The final battle between good and evil draws near! A Witch’s Quest is the sixth installment in Leigh Ann Edwards’ addictive Irish Witch series, a magical fantasy saga set in sixteenth century Ireland featuring witches, a swoony hero, an evil curse, Celtic gods, spirits, demons and fairies. This book picks up exactly where the previous book, A Witch’s Life, left off with Alainn injured and in a coma and Killian imprisoned in the King’s tower. This is a series that should be read in order. Each installment has incrementally built towards the coming final battle between good and evil. The author does fill in the basics of what has transpired previously, but I cannot imagine not reading the series sequentially. In A Witch’s Quest, the battle between good and evil is becoming increasingly more desperate. Discerning who is good and who is evil is impossible. In this installment, Alainn wakes from her coma, but remains a prisoner of King Henry, whose court is pervaded by evil. In desperation, she takes extreme measures to obtain the release of Killian and other Irish being held in the King’s tower. Regardless, their safe passage to Ireland is not assured. The dark are becoming more powerful while the Celtic gods who champion Alainn’s cause, seem to be focused on testing Alainn for the impending trial. The couple’s love, passion and trust in each other continue to grow. Unfortunately, this book seems to bog down in England. It’s the first book in this series that I struggled with. While I still enjoyed it overall, this was my least favorite installment of the series. The series will conclude with the next book, A Witch’s Destiny. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this series now that the couple is back in Ireland. Alainn’s magical abilities will need to be strong and focused for the light to prevail. A Witch’s Destiny released last month and it’s already queued on my reader! My full review is published at Reading Between the Wines Book Club. Please check it out there!

A Witch's Quest by Leigh Ann Edwards starts exactly where the last book in the series concluded. Alainn has been injured and there are dangers galore in King Henry VIII’s England. While the author does an excellent job of giving background on the cause of the injury and what is happening in England to this Irish couple, it still is a series best read in order. In earlier books, events happen that seemed to be isolated, but here the past comes into play with many of those creatures having a part in this story. Seeing how one former action of Alainn’s is tied together with another is amazing. The battle between good and evil continues to grow more desperate, with the outcome unclear at times, building the suspenseful tension in the saga of Alainn and Killian. Just when it looks that they have found safe passage back to Ireland, more disturbing events and dangers follow them. Religion, country, politics or customs give no solid indication for who is on the side of light. The theme of light verses darkness is major in this addition to the series, along with that is the uncertainty of what exactly Alainn is facing. The demon is growing in strength and influence but the ancient Celtic gods seem intent on testing the young woman. Sacrifices are made, losses are adding up and the darkness is only held at bay. Their story is not finished yet. 4.5 Stars An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the sixth book in the Irish Witch Series. It tells of when Killian was imprisoned in the tower of London and his wife was held by King Henry. This is the sixth book in Leigh Ann Edwards Irish Witch series. The story continues for our young couple, delving deeper into the story of their love and what they endure. This book is a bit darker in nature with the horrible things they each must struggle through to find each other again. Poor Alainn and what she had to suffer ! Can't put it down I thought the first 5 books had me, but this is intense. The relationships with all the different characters really make you feel your there in the book with them. Alainn had planned to return to Ireland, but sees a child in danger and pushes her out of the way, at the expense of her own child growing in her womb. She wakes to find out she has saved the king's daughter. However, there is much evil in the court and a tug of war between good and evil takes place. Alainn will do whatever is necessary to free Killian from prison, for she loves him so much. When they return to Ireland, there are still many battles they need to face otherwise the darkness will win over the light. Alainn needs her magical abilities more than ever to save the world from impending darkness.

Slower and disturbing This book seemed to get bogged down in England with king Henry. He was clearly evil and merited some book time but it seemed like most of the book was dedicated to their captivity and mistreatment by this bully. It slowed every thing down to a crawl. There were also many typos that slowed it down even further. On a whole tho, I still like this story and will continue to read it until it ends or I get so frustrated with the characters that I don't care about them anymore. There was a lot of forcing myself into this book. the whole first part just.......I neither liked it nor loved it. One minute it was trying to copy Phillipa Gregory with historical drama, the next it was 0.99c pararomance tripe. Too disjointed. It never grabbed my attention and I never felt compelled to read on. I prefer a book that I regret having to put down while this one was a "take it or leave it" in many ways and this wasn't it. I'm not sure why Nook had the sixth instalment in a series as a Free Friday Read - there were simply too many books before this one if one wanted to make sure they were up to speed with the adventure. Despite that, the story was fairly easy to follow through and there were enough new adventures that reading it as is wasn't the worst experience. The story, even for someone who hadn't read the previous instalments, was so predictable that I struggled to get through it. I found this book deeply disturbing because certain scenes were triggers for me. It should come with a warning. I must say that I also found those scenes gratuitous. So for those who may be triggered by sexual violence, I suggest you tread carefully with this book. Also, this doesn't truly end the story, despite the blurbs about it. If you've enjoyed the series thus far, then you will likely enjoy what's to come. I found this book deeply disturbing because certain scenes were triggers for me. It should come with a warning. I didn't like the last book very much and didn't like this one at all. I have read 2 books in a new series, and feel this book was worse now than when I initially read it and rated it. I felt the author had to use sex to fill the pages because they couldn't come up with any magic worth doing. The whole series tanked after the first 4 books. I do wish they were better written and with less sex involved as it could have been a great series but just doesn't make my cut. I didn't like the last book very much and didn't like this one at all. This feels like a transition novella. Just moving the story forward, with minimal plot, and minimal character development. Both were present, but on minimally. I am beginning to tire of Alainne, of course she's just 18, and her maturation is a major character arc, but it is slow. Perhaps this is a U.S. Novel, and not meant for my generation.
