Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has done little to draw attention to herself, but has nevertheless managed to become the most reviled member of Donald Trump’s cabinet. "Ending up as a creature in Donald Trump's swamp may have been the best possible outcome for her." ... "But the Trump's administration's ability to draw the media's attention to whatever daily dysfunction is happening close to the Oval Office has largely helped keep the heat off Devos. ... And so, in an administration that can boast an untold level of staff turnover, she remains, quietly ensconced at the Department of Education, largely out of sight and out of mind, working her way deftly - as she always has - toward limiting protections for the most vulnerable students in America, while allowing the privateers growing fat off the land of income inequality to haul in a greater and greater share of profits." Calling all educators! This is a must read!

I was still amazed at Betsy and her story! Being from Detroit I knew about some of the things that were described but seeing them in chronological order and in context was like connecting the dots. Betsy is a frightening person. Her vision of the school and education was alarming. One of the main points is that Betsy is not incompetent. She is strategic in trying to achieve conservative evangelical goals.

Very quick read providing Betsy's background information and general overview of her life and views. I now have an understanding of how she arrived in her cabinet position.
