It wasn’t until that very moment that I realized what a complete idiot I’d been. She loves me. TRIP was everything and more than I hoped it would be! The ”Remember When” series is one that I have held so very close to my heart for several years now because of the nostalgia I felt while reading it but mostly because of the Hero…Trip Wilmington. This character makes the story so darn fabulous. Trip has this special charisma that only a select few book Heroes I have come across possess. I fell hard for him from the moment he walked onto the pages of this story. I swooned over and at times I was gutted and crying ugly tears for this beautiful character. So to say that it was important to me that Tina had to get this story right, was an understatement. I appreciate that she took longer than initially expected to complete this book. Her determination to make this story in Trip’s voice PERFECT, is why T. Torrest is one of my all-time favorite authors. You know there have been countless of our favorite stories retold in the Hero’s POV and they have been huge disappointments, but I can honestly tell you that this is the FIRST time that I got a chance to be inside the Hero’s head during his retelling of the story and I actually loved it more than the original!! I don’t want to rehash the plot in my review. What I want to express is how it felt like I was going home to be with family and close friends after not having seen them for many years. I loved reliving the teenage angst and heartbreak through Trip’s POV this time. Being in his head that very first moment he and Layla locked eyes on each other in their High School English class!! Oh, be still my beating heart when he writes her that secret love letter during that class at the very beginning of their friendship!! And did these two ever drive me nuts with their constant mixed signals, but I can remember not being confident in my own skin at that age and I get how they weren’t wise enough to see the signs that were right there in front of their faces. Those months when they lost the friendship were no less painful when told from Trip’s perspective. I had always known he was suffering just as badly as Layla was and while I didn’t enjoy that his heart was just as torn up as hers, it did actually make me love him even more. Who knew that it was even possible?!! Having read the original books, I knew how the story was going to end but it didn’t stop me from hoping for a different outcome and knowing that Trip truly agonized over the whole ordeal was even more heartbreaking. Here are my overall ratings: Hero: 5 Heroine: 4 Plot: 5 Angst: 4.5 Steam: 5 Chemistry Between Heros & Heroine: 5 TRIP released on March 15th! I hope that you all will give this book a chance. It’s only 99 cents on Amazon and worth so much more in my opinion!! Believe me, if you haven’t met Trip, you’ll want to make some time in the near future to meet this truly phenomenal book boyfriend!! I absolutely loved the Remember When trilogy and I highly recommend you read the series, the first book is currently free so a good time to get started on a trip down memory lane. The 80’s were fun! This book is Trip’s POV on how he met and fell in love with Layla. There isn’t as much 80’s nostalgia in this story it is more focused on their relationship. I loved how slowly and organically Trip & Layla fell into what would eventually the be the big love of their lives. There is way more to Trip than I had led myself to believe and I enjoyed being inside his head as he patiently waited to be with Layla. The slow build of their love meant they had a solid a foundation for a future together and now it is up to them to find their way back to each other. If you love someone set them free… Loved this! ‘Come live with me and be my love.’

Absolutely fantastic! 4.5 stars This is such a fun read! A-retelling of the fabulous Remember When, but this time from the POV of teen hero Trip Wilmington (soon to be mega movie-star). This is a sweet, heartfelt, teen-angsty, romantic and sexy story of a high school love story between two souls who were definitely meant to be. A-retelling of the fabulous Remember When, but this time from the POV of teen hero Trip Wilmington (soon to be mega movie-star). This is a sweet, heartfelt, teen-angsty, romantic and sexy story of a high school love story between two souls who were definitely meant to be. Trip has just moved to new Jersey with his parents for his father’s work. No stranger to moving and starting over, his home life may be difficult but he is easygoing, smart and mature for his years, and he throws himself into his senior year of high school, easily becoming one of the popular crew. And then he meets Layla Warren. Beautifully and witty, Layla knocks him on his ass in every way possible, his attraction to her immediate and all-consuming, and I loved being in his head as we get to experience his crush in all of its teenaged-boy glory. We actually made pretty great friends. It was kind of weird to think we’d only known each other for two weeks. It felt like I’d known her a lot longer. And I know she felt the same. What can I say? Sometimes, when it comes to certain people, you just click. I still wanted to suck her face, however. The tricky thing is though, that Layla has an on-off boyfriend and Trip isn’t really sure where he stands with her, so he’s content to be her friend and get to know her, all the while hoping for something more. As bad as my lips wanted to kiss her, my brain wouldn’t allow me to go through with it. Maybe it was the way her eyes were staring right through me. The way my heart was hammering out of my chest. I never thought twice about it with other girls, but the thing was, Layla wasn’t just another girl. Something was different with her. Something that told me everything would change the first second our lips met. Not just everything between us, but everything in my life. I love a good YA love story, and this one is gorgeous! Trip and Layla become the best of friends, and watching that develop was sweet and so much fun. The banter, teasing and joking is great, I love their sweet and deep moments, and you can feel the emotional connection between them as we follow them through ups and downs, and the confusing angst of hormonally-charged emotions. And then we get this beautifully developing romance, and when they finally reached the point where they made it happen I was in a world of swoony, teenage-loved-up bliss. As I bounded out the kitchen door, I saw everyone milling about in the driveway, attempting to cram all our worldly goods into their respective vehicles. Layla was leaning against her car, the sunlight bouncing off her dark brown hair, and I swear to God, the world around her disappeared. I had tunnel vision as I walked straight toward her, dropped my bag on the ground, and pulled her to me for a kiss. I was pretty sure all our friends were watching and I didn’t care. I always knew this girl was created to be in my arms. It was about time everyone else realized it, too. “You’re all I want, Lay. Just you.” So swooooooony!!!! But there’s so much more to this story than just a romance. It’s a coming-of-age story as Trip deals with the difficulties of his home life, and the direction of his future. His confusion is completely relatable as he tries to figure it all out, and I loved that we got to experience that with him. And set against the background of the late 80s, the sense of nostalgia just adds to the fun as Trip, Lalya and their friends tease, share and goof around, and get ready to head out into the big, wide world. Tonight was marking the first of many goodbyes yet to come as we all took off in different directions across the map to live out the next chapters of our lives. Would we ever be in the same place like this ever again? Would we remember who we were to each other? Would we grow up and forget to be idiots? Maturity blows. I loved this book! When I started reading, I thought this was going to be the retelling of the entire trilogy in one book, and was honestly a bit disappointed when I started it and realised that it was only the first book and not the entire story. But the more I read, the happier I was because I freaking loved it! It’s been a while since I read Remember When and I had forgotten a lot of the details, so I love that we got so much of it here and I cannot WAIT to see the next two instalments brought to life by Trip because he is a master narrator for his story, and after that ending (which brought me to tears even though I knew it was coming), and knowing where things go from here, I need more! “Don’t ever ask me to stop loving you, because I can’t. don’t ever think I’ll be able to forget you, because I won’t. Such a great read, I loved it! 4.5 stars. An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Aww I'm disappointed. I loved the Trip we met in Remember When, and his POV here is pretty consistent I guess with how I remember him being from that book, but it's also a lot . . . less somehow. I didn't care for this. The writing seemed really unpolished. Tons of telling instead of showing. Was the first book like this? I don't remember it being so, but. . . shit. I dunno. I'm scared to ever re-read it again now cuz I'm afraid that it's not as awesome as my memory is insisting it was. Aww I'm disappointed. “And that’s what I got for taking a shot at the most beautiful girl I’d ever met in my life. Fucking maneater. I thought she was different.” Obviously I loved and adored TRIP to pieces. When I first read the Remember When Trilogy, Trip took the number one spot for my book boyfriend. For so long it was Kellan Kyle, then bam! Trip came in and stole my heart away. The love story between Trip and Layla is one that won’t ever get old for me. Do I think that you need to read Layla’s story first before “And that’s what I got for taking a shot at the most beautiful girl I’d ever met in my life. Do I think that you need to read Layla’s story first before you even read Trip’s side of things? Yes! Absolutely. I know the author says that it isn’t mandatory to do that but I think it should be. “A possessiveness overtook me as I wrapped my arms around her, trying to brand myself onto her skin. I’d wanted her so bad for so long, and finally, she was here. She was mine.” I’m on cloud nine and my heart is about to burst from its chest. Trip is the new boy in town—and it’s all mundane until he sees the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen in his life. His words. Layla is funny, beautiful, smart, and she just gets Trip. There’s only one problem, she’s kind of taken. Kind of. But not really. Eh, but I guess she kinda is in a way. Am I confusing you? You’ll get it if you’ve already read Layla’s story. The whole time Trip is just hiding his time until the moment he can make Layla his. I know romance stories wouldn’t be romance stories without it but... A lot of stuff that happened in the book could have absolutely been avoided if they just conversed. Miscommunications are a bitch—for real. The first book to me is bittersweet. I love Trip and Layla’s teenage years and watching them fall into deep soul crushing love—yet not knowing a damn thing they can do about it. While this may be Trip’s POV, Torrest has made the story into its own, and still having all the yummy and sexy scenes that made us fall in love in the first place. The magic is still here with Layla and Trip; I still felt those butterflies anytime the two were together. Overall, I think fans and new readers alike will devour the beautiful thing that is Trip Wilmington. “But don’t ever ask me to stop loving you, because I can’t. Don’t ever think I’ll be able to forget you, because I won’t.” *Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy an honest and unbiased review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

So sweet!! I am a huge fan of the Remember When series and if you haven't read it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. Second-chance romance doesn't get any better than Trip and Layla's story. I was so excited to read Trip's version of when he first met Layla. This is a fun, sexy and nostalgic story and adds so much to the whole series! TRIP gave me that opportunity, but I was nervous going in. Would my feelings towards him change? What if he didn't live up to my expectations? I was nervous for nothing. He exceeded my expectations and, if my feelings changed at all, it was that they got stronger. It was absolutely perfect.  I'm not going to waste my time (or yours!) talking about the plot. If you're a fan of the Remember When series, you know how special it is. If you've not yet read it, you need to stop reading my review immediately and go buy and start the first book. Like, now. Shoo. ;) TRIP was as sweet and funny as the original, but in it I also found some vulnerability to Trip that I didn't see in the original. I don't think I realized just how much I needed his POV to make the story feel complete.  I loved everything about TRIP. It felt a little like visiting with old friends and now I want to reread the entire Remember When series while Tina is writing the next book. I'm so happy I dropped everything to read TRIP when I got my hands on it. It gave me sooooo many feels... and a wicked book hangover. I just love Trip and Layla so much and I'm a greedy reader, so I need the second book in his POV stat. Even if I'm pretty sure it will utterly destroy me since it's about their time apart and all the things that go on then.  I suspect fans of the Remember When series will feel the same way I do about TRIP, both the book and the character. I could go on and on and on about how much I love this book and this series, but I'll spare you. I'll be over here trying to keep myself from shouting my love for it from the rooftop. #TripandLayla4EVA FAVORITE QUOTES I'd met lots of pretty girls in my life, but she... I don't know, man. She did something to me. I stood there paralyzed, conscious of nothing but the sensation of my heart actually lurching in my chest.  The only thing rambling through my mind is how much I want to grab you out of that chair and kiss you right now. Kiss you the way you need to be kissed—and kiss you often. "I'm not going to be that guy, that guy who hangs on too tight because he's afraid of what will happen when he lets go."

I’m going to preface this review by saying that I don’t typically like the male POV/retelling books. Sure, sometimes they’re a little interesting, not going to knock some of my favorite characters, but mostly I find them boring. There are very few that I feel live up to the original. I fell in love with Trip and Layla years ago, so this book felt like coming home. It had the same easy going tone as Remember When, as well as the same writing style. It’s so “readable”. The dialogue, the flow. It’s the type of book that you get caught up in because of the ease of it. It’s addictive, just like the rest of the series. I loved how authentic it felt. I loved the pop culture references. It definitely brought me back (I may have been tempted to look for a pack of juicy fruit at the store yesterday). But more so, I felt like it was so true to how a high school aged boy would think. How an 18 year old would act. It made me want to swoon and punch him at the same time lol! This is definitely no cut and paste job. I loved seeing Layla through Trip’s eyes. Seeing Trip fall in love with acting. I also missed these characters!!! Freaking Rymer!!! And Pick and Lisa. All of them. I think this could read well as a standalone, but why not read Layla’s story first? Either way, 5 stars!

Not always a fan of books that tell the same story from a different POV. This one was ok, but I found myself skimming quite a bit- and I’m not a skimmer. It was good, just liked the first one better.

I’m kind of disappointed because, as I feared, it turned out that this book was a copy/paste of book one in the series. Didn’t learn anything new. I wish book one in the story would have been told in dual POV at least we would have had the same story with a few extra details. There was definitely no need to publish a fourth book for that. Also I wish the author would have given Trip’s POV of the time he and Kay were apart, when he went through such a difficult turn. GOLD LIPSTICK - BEST OF 2018 Dear God I don't think I'll ever get enough of Chester and Lay Lay... wait...you thought this book was about Trip and Layla...ahhhh but it is, but they will forever be known as Chester and Lay Lay to me. Okay so before I confuse more then I need to, lets take a step back to the early 90s. Okay so before I confuse more then I need to, lets take a step back to the early 90s. Trip Wilmington is no stranger to being uprooted and moving from town to town, when he lands in New Jersey there's not much for him to do but to move with the punches and settle into his new life, and prepare for his Senior year. Now I don't know about you but boy am I invested in high school crushes, I mean there's that sense of vulnerability and naivety that I love, everything feels so dramatic and huge without the responsibility of actual adultdom. So here is Trip ready to take on a new school when *kapow* he meets Layla Warren...and boy is he hit for a six (don't mind my Aussie cricket reference there). Their chemistry is undeniable, they sink into easy friendship, but he's never quite sure where he stands or how she feels about him. Queue the angsty boy teen feels here....like seriously ahhhh Torrest paints such a vivid picture it's easy to experience every emotion with Trip and Layla without having to revisit our own adolescence (which I'm so grateful for). "We actually made pretty great friends. It was kind of weird to think we’d only known each other for two weeks. It felt like I’d known her a lot longer. And I know she felt the same. What can I say? Sometimes, when it comes to certain people, you just click. I still wanted to suck her face, however." I'll be honest here, as much as I love love love the Remember When Trilogy, and as much as I've been begging Ms Torrest for more of my beloved Chester and Lay Lay, the idea of a companion novel doesn't always grab me, I mean I've already devoured the series (more times then I can count) so I don't just want a rehashing of the same old story. Plus for devoted fans, it's kind of like Romeo & Juliet or the Titanic... we already know how it ends right.... how much new content can the author really deliver?? GUYS!! Seriously though... this story felt fresh and new....and OMGGGG.... I can 100% confirm that it is possible to love Trip Wilmington even more then I did prior to this novels release. I mean I SWOONED like I've never swooned before, Trip is every book boyfriend rolled into one delightful package with his easy grace, self deprecating humour and maturity beyond his years. I mean I could wax lyrical all afternoon about our hero and it still wouldn't be enough. Just you.” There's few authors that I willingly and knowingly harass for more of a much loved series, I mean the mark of a great storyteller is when you turn the last page and still crave more and yet still got the story you needed, I can usually finish a book knowing that justice was given to these characters that became real for me and know that whatever my imagination conjures up for them and their future is exactly how it should be... and yet when it comes to this pair I think I'll always be hopeful for more of them. For lovers of great storytelling, of swoon worthy heroes and smart, sassy and real heroines, who yearn for a simpler time and all that angsty goodness that only YA/NA can deliver TRIP is a tale you won't want to put down. “Don’t ever ask me to stop loving you, because I can’t. don’t ever think I’ll be able to forget you, because I won’t.

Trip is technically the 4th book in this author’s Remember When series. It can be read as a standalone book, but it’s absolutely worth reading the first 3 books from Layla’s point of view first. You just get a richer experience with this story. Trip and Layla meet as seniors in high school and quickly become friends…but are REALLY attracted to each other. This book is their senior year and their friendship (the good, the bad, and the ugly) through Trip’s eyes. Trip and Layla meet as seniors in high school and quickly become friends…but are REALLY attracted to each other. This book is their senior year and their friendship (the good, the bad, and the ugly) through Trip’s eyes. I first read Remember When back in the summer of 2013. Back then I wasn’t a reviewer or a blogger, but the story touched me in a way that I actually looked up Ms. Torrest on Facebook and sent her a message. See…I’m a child of the ‘80’s and those books took me back to my high school years and were so close to my own love story that they are STILL with me. So fast forward to a few months ago and I see she’s coming out with Trip’s side of the story. I was pretty excited…and even more excited to know I could help promote it now that I’m a book blogger. I purposely did NOT do a re-read of Remember When because I wanted to see how this side of the story affected how I felt about the series as a whole. What it did was remind me how much I loved the series and loved Trip and Layla’s story. It’s not an easy story to read. There are a lot of missed opportunities with these two. And a lot of stubbornness that truly made me wish I could smack them both. But it was pretty spot on when it comes to high school and new/young adult relationships. Think back for a few moments to your own high school relationship(s). While we’d like to look back and believe we were grown up and mature…we really weren’t. So if you expect these 2 to be grown up and mature, you’ll be frustrated with their story. NICUnurse’s Rating: I’m absolutely giving this book 5 stars! There are several reasons why. First, it’s a really well-written story. While it might seem easy for an author to write a book like this because most of the plot is already written, it’s not. There’s a LOT of work that goes into books like this. Second, the characters stay true to the original series. (Again…sounds like it would make writing this book easier, but in reality, it doesn’t.) Third, even though I knew the ending, it was a page-turner. I devoured it in about 4 hours and am not so patiently looking forward to the next 2 (I HOPE!!) books. Fourth, there’s the whole backstory regarding Trip’s parents and his rocky relationship with his dad that you don’t get in the first book. Kind of gave me a better insight as to why Trip acts, and reacts, the way he does at times. And lastly…this couple’s story so closely mimics mine and my husband’s story (except hubby didn’t become a big Hollywood star…just a cool AF fighter guy) that if I ever wanted to write our story, Ms. Torrest would most likely sue me for plagiarism or copyright infringement or something. So there’s a little, itty bit of bias there! If you like new/young adult stories with a lot of angst and rollercoaster emotions, you’ll love this book. Take a chance on it…and then go get the first 3 Remember When books while you’re at it!

Sigh… young love.  This is what I think of after reading Trip!  I first fell in Love with Layla and Trip many years ago while reading the Remember When series.  I just fell in love with their story and when T. Torrest announce she was writing Trip’s book I was so excited!!  This is not your normal alternate point of view book!!  It’s like reading a whole other book!!  Bravo to T. After moving from state to state, Trip and his family land in Norman New Jersey where he will finish his senior year of high school. Being in the hotel industry, Trip’s family has moved to constantly and no place every felt like home.  Everything changed in New Jersey.  Trip was able to make friends quickly and it was like he finally found a place he could call home.  There is even a girl that will change everything. His relationship with Layla was never an easy one.  Bad timing always seemed to be their theme.   Because I know the full story I loved seeing the other side of the coin.  From reading Remember When I knew Layla’s story and reading Trip just gave a whole new dimension to the story.   I loved getting to know Trip better and see the struggles he went through. It looked like he had a perfect life going up but looks can be deceiving and when you get past the top layer, there is so much more to Trip than his good looks and charm. I loved reading this story and just fell in love with Trip and Layla all over again! This series will take you back in time and growing up in the 80s myself it transported back to when life was less complicated. When Duran Duran ruled the airwaves and big hair was in!  This was another huge 5 star read for me and one I would highly recommend!! You cannot go wrong with any book from T. Torrest! She just has a gift and if you’ve not discovered it, you need to!!

Summary The year is 1990. Big hair and Bon Jovi, muscle cars and rock n roll set the stage for this novel. Trip Wilmington is the new kid in town, again. He is used to moving from city to city, and making new friends as he goes. It's his normal. He's fits in quickly with the popular crowd at Saint Nicetuis, just like his last school. There is one thing he isn't counting on at his new school, Layla Warren. Layla is different than any girl he's ever met. But of course, she has baggage and his name Summary The year is 1990. Coop is her on-again/off-again boyfriend. He's not interested in making room for a newby in town. As Trip finds his way in his new school for his final year of high school, he will learn a lot about friendship, life and most importantly, love. This is the story of Trip Wiley, famous actor, before he was Trip Wiley, from HIS point of view. My Thoughts I have waited SO long for this book! I have obsessed over the Remember When series for over a year! This book was amazing! It lived up to all of my expectations, for real! I loved hearing the Trip/Layla story from his point of view. This novel fills in the gaps from the first series. This novel is filled with the same awesome writing style and passion. I just can't get enough! If you haven't read the Remember When series, please do! It is every teenage girl's fantasy written down in a book! Seriously! There are a lot of 80's/90's references making it just that much more fun to read. I mean, I hadn't thought about strolling the aisles of a movie rental store in ages! Which one makes me sound older? The fact that I know what a movie rental store is? Or the fact that I said "ages"? Either way, amazing book to follow an already amazing series. 500 star rating from me. Trip and Layla are my couple. I love them. They are relate-able and deep. They are a hot, passionate mess. They are beautiful, unpredictable and so much more. I do recommend this book for 18 and older. www.readmorelivehappy.com

I don't know where to begin but to say OMG you have got to read this book. If you have read Remember When then you have already met Trip and Layla and you are as excited about this book as I am. If you haven't read it yet you need to go and check it out NOW. I highly recommend reading Book 1 before reading Trip. Trip is Remember When from Trip's point of view instead of Layla's. One of my favorite things about Trip and the Remember When trilogy is that it always brings me back to my high school years. Picking up these books is like going home and hanging out with old friends. Now I'm a huge fan of the Remember When trilogy. I have read it over and over many times and consider it to be one of my favorite sets to read. With that being said even though I love Remember When I found myself loving Trip even more. I know it's to early to ask since she just released Trip but I got to know and I truly hope that she will continue to give us more of the inner thinking and mind rambles of one Trip Wilmington. I would love to read the rest of the trilogy through his point of view. You did like a totally awesome job with this book T. Torrest. I cried at the end. I will definitely be recommending and rereading this book. Please can we get more.

I'm like every other reviewer here in loving the Remember When series. It is a teleportation right back to my high school days and first loves and important lifelong friendships. I've been anxiously awaiting Trip since his book was announced. I don't normally enjoy an alternate pov book, they tend to be a retelling without much new content. However, Trip is anything but, his pov on the first year of his and Layla's love story is different from Lay's version of events stands solidly on its own. Guys just think differently and I loved being in his head. I loved Trip through Layla's eyes flaws and all, I loved him even more through his own thoughts. He plays it cool but he's just as insecure and prone to choke as the rest of us were at that age. His relationships with the guys in the group and getting to see his family from the inside and how it impacted him on a daily basis was a testament to his character at that age. I knew most of what was coming but that ending. Geez, I just love T Torrest's gift of the slow burn, I felt this couple falling in love and every messy thing that goes along with their story. I'm a huge fan! I suggest you one click right is minute and meet Trip and Lay!

4.5 stars. I was elated when this book was announced. The return of Trip Wilmington and the 80s, need I say more? Trip was already a well developed character, but getting insight into his head really refined his voice further and I was completely engrossed because it was like going back to my own high school and my own friends with how familiar this felt while still being all new in a different perspective and learning why he said what he said or did what he did. I wouldn't be opposed to more of Trip's POV in the other books, particularly specific scenes, but I'm already thrilled to have this bonus book. Definitely a must read for all the Remember When fans.
