It’s the 70's, a time of free love and self-expression, and surprisingly, people are able to communicate without electronic devices. The rodeo circuit didn’t look much different back then as it does now, as we follow Josephine, a barrel racer, and Silas, a bull rider, to the championship in Cheyenne. They’re both focused on winning, but one too many accidents indicates there may be something more nefarious at work than the “bad juju" Josephine claims the season is cursed with. They’re both focused on winning, but one too many accidents indicates there may be something more nefarious at work than the “bad juju" Josephine claims the season is cursed with. Between that, her issues at home, and bull rider friends being injured, Josephine doesn’t have time for a relationship, but that doesn’t stop Silas from trying to change her mind. This author is one of my favorites, so I was eager to read the advance copy of this book. No matter the romance genre, I can always count on her for an exciting, engaging story with the right amount of mystery, suspense and romance. As usual, these characters are complex, larger than life and endearing, easily drawing the reader into their story and making a place for themselves in her heart. I read this book in one setting and I was a bit melancholy that it ended before I was ready to say goodbye to Josephine and Silas. If I have any criticism, it would be with Josephine. She knew she was falling in love with Silas, but she lied to herself about it and readily admitted she was lying to herself, yet she still did the wishy-washy hot/cold thing with him. So yes, I wanted to shake her. But Silas, the wonderful hero he was, had already told her he would be there for her and would wait for her. By not being honest about her feelings, Josephine missed out on some important things with Silas that was time that she could never get back. A hard lesson for Josephine, but maybe there’s something we can learn from her and not make the same mistake in our own lives. Don’t get me wrong. In spite of my frustration with what I think is an important lesson from Josephine, this was a terrific read and I definitely recommend a tap of the 1-Click button. *I reviewed this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.

I have had a revelation. I have never read cowboy love stories before, didn’t think I could connect with the characters or the setting. But I read this story, and I have had a change of heart. This is a realistic love story that will draw you into the minds of the main characters, Josephine and Silas, as they try to figure out how their story plays out. The plot is dense, and it is set in the 70’s, so modern stalking methods, I mean communication is not a thing, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m nostal I have had a revelation. The story is set on the rodeo circuit, and the conflicts run from personal to sabotage and it was fun for me to discover this whole other world. I did wonder when the people on the circuit were able to shower though, I might have missed that detail in the book, but that was just one of those things that I will never figure out I guess. Vicki Tharpe is a new author for me, but I enjoy her storytelling style and her character development, so I will definitely look for more books written by her in the future.I got to read a copy of this book in advance of its release date, but I'm buying a copy when it releases anyway!

Injuries, aches, and pains take their toll. Ironically a placid bull does not give the rider good ratings. Barrel racing can be dangerous as well. Navigating the circuit is quite another matter. Traveling between Rodeo meets can be tiring, taking care of your horse a constant effort, and sleeping in a trailer or motel room.... Eating out in a different city on an almost daily basis. For the guys the temptations of so-called buckle bunnies and for the gals often unwanted attention from fans and fellow rodeo participants. And then there are interfering parents. But in true romance fashion love conquers all.

Through disappointing rides in the rodeos, injuries and sabotage they grow closer together. While he declares his love, she denies hers. Read this book to discover how these two finally commit to love. Enjoy! I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Good read I love rodeo, cowboys (I have my own) and barrel racing. He's a bull rider and she chases cans. He's loved her from afar, but did nothing about it......until now. There's humor, not sex, romance, and some mystery. Is this rodeo circuit cursed? Or is someone messing with things? Highly recommend if you like rodeo. Strong characters that won my heart over right away. This book is entertaining while staying real to the culture surrounding the 1970s rodeo. The romance and suspenseful twists kept me interested and reading. I did have some confusion over some of the rodeo references, but I’m not as knowledgeable as some when it comes to barrel racing. I would highly recommend this book.

First book I read by this author and I was impressed. It might be because I have a thing for cowboys but that is beside the point. I love that there was romance but also a little mystery as we were trying to figure out what exactly was going on.
