AND A STORY YOU WILL NEVER FORGET. Book One - BREAKTHROUGH Deep in the Caribbean Sea, a nuclear submarine is forced to suddenly abort its mission under mysterious circumstances. Strange facts begin to emerge that lead naval investigator, John Clay, to a small group of marine biologists who are quietly on the verge of making history. With the help of a powerful computer system, Alison Shaw and her team are preparing to translate the first two-way conversation with the planet's second smartest species. But the team discovers much more from their dolphins than they ever expected when a secret object is revealed on the ocean floor. One that was never supposed to be found. Alison was sure she would never trust the military again. However, when an unknown group immediately becomes interested in her work, Alison realizes John Clay may be the only person she can trust. Together they must piece together a dangerous puzzle, and the most frightening piece, is the trembling in Antarctica. To make matters worse, someone from the inside is trying to stop them. Now time is running out...and our understanding of the world is about to change forever. Book Two - LEAP Facing the cold, clear glass, Alison Shaw stared nervously into the giant seawater tank. It was just one year ago that she and her team of marine biologists had stunned the world with their incredible breakthrough. And now, they were about to do it again. But an ocean away, something strange was unfolding. Along a lonely coast in South America, an experimental Russian submarine, long thought to have been dismantled, has suddenly resurfaced. And the U.S. Navy has taken notice, sending officers John Clay and Steve Caesare to investigate. The sub has been studying a group of unmarked soldiers. Disappearing into the jungle each night beneath the cover of darkness. Something has been discovered...something big. And it's about to fall into the wrong hands. Unless Alison Shaw and her team can find something that no one else can. Book Three - CATALYST In 1984 a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean. Its purpose was to preserve Earth's genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe. Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered. This one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is...it's not ours. Yet even more curious than the vault itself, is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting. No one knows who built it. Or when. What we have managed to figure out is that whoever it was traveled an immense distance. For the sole purpose of hiding their genetic blueprints on Earth. But why? Now a small group of marine biologists and navy investigators have been assigned to find out. Before anyone else does. But Alison Shaw and John Clay are not prepared for what they are about to uncover. Beginning with the truth behind our own evolution.

Fantastic bargain for this 5+ star series! There is a good reason that the Breakthrough Series has been a continuous best seller since the first book appeared in 2013. I have read every superbly written story and the journey keeps getting better. If you're not already hooked, this box set makes for the perfect opportunity. Fantastic bargain for this 5+ star series! Wow! I'm an avid sci-fi fan, have been a very long time. Over 55 years as a matter of fact. I've read Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein, Bradbury and many others. Seldom does a series like this one happen. The characters and premise are fresh and new, the writing is clear and concise, but most importantly, the author allows you to fully engage in the story. I'm impressed. Great sci-fi! Well done Michael! Looking forward to the rest of the series. Wow! I'm an avid sci-fi fan, have been a very long time. Over 55 years as a matter of fact. Great Series I love this series and can't wait to read the next book. The balance of adventure, espionage and technology is well done. Definitely not your normal "Male Fantasy Novel". Utterly filled to the brim with heart, suspense, mystery, and a few paranormalesque twists. The paranormal itself isn't center to this story. It revolves around a program that enables humans and dolphins to communicate. Been done, right? NOPE... By speak I don't mean the typical hand signals from the human and twirls as a reply. I mean a computer that literally deciphers words into dolphin clicks and vice versa. Where humans and dolphins literally have actual conversations!!! Thus opening up the world to even more than they ever imagined! As the series goes on we also see this technology used to converse with gorillas and primates. There's a HUGE amount of military intrigue, spies, hackers and lots of suspense. If you adore James Rollins, Steve Berry or Dan Brown then this is right up your alley. I thankfully discovered BREAKTHROUGH and was honestly hooked one paragraph in. I stopped reading and went right back to Amazon to order the others available at the time in said series. I did NOT regret that choice at all. Even with a limited book budget I knew this was a smart choice! This book is filled to the brim with characters with wit, heart, HONOR and yes as in any good story we also see characters devoid of any soul or heart out only for number one. You will fall in love with these characters and what they're end goal is. I'm also including my review for book 1 BREAKTHROUGH so you have a basic idea of how said series starts... I cannot wait for the next book in this genius series!!! BREAKTHROUGH REVIEW: I will be honest... I didn't truly know quite what to expect with this book as I'd not read anything by this author before. Wow! I'm now THRILLED I got this amazing book. I was completely and utterly hooked within the first chapter. Imagine if you will, a dolphin aquarium... Same old same old right? WRONG!! Allison and her team of misfit scientists and a wonderful computer "white hat" hacker have done the impossible. Using a computer and a program specially designed, they used it to video and track their two in house dolphins extraordinaire... DIRK and SALLY 🐬🐬. Slowly this system has been tracking their clicks (sounds they make) in response to questions asked. The teams hope is this computer will help translate the dolohin language and make communication possible. With tons of data, Ali and her team know its possible...its just a matter of when. They're all workaholics, but after a very long day they force themselves to leave. Alison goes in early the next day to retrieve her notebook...about to leave, something catches her eye. EUREKA!! Three words are translated already! Calling the team in they are all very excited! Everything goes quickly from there. Fairly soon there are far more than three words! Considered a joke in her scientific community thanks to a past resesrch trial thst the Navy stole and delayed her getting back data for so long that nobody in her circles believed her...she has every right NOT to trust the Navy again. So imagine her shock and disdain when two Navy men come calling. John Clay and his friend Steve immediately know she seems to have an aversion to either the government, Navy, or both...they just dont know why. Yet they have a job to do. Their bosses want to borrow her beloved dolphins to retrieve a lost rover on the ocean floor. There is something down there, and they need to get it. Suffice to say that from here on out there is oodles of action, dolphin talking to humans, shocking discoveries, immense politics, political backstabbing, and immense worry for the safety of the planet. Who would think two dolphins could be the ones to possibly save the day? So take the ride...meet Dirk, Sally and an amazing cast of characters. I for one got to the last page and just knew i had to read more. Luckily there are a few more books in this series to get to read! If you're a fan of James Rollins or Steve Berry I think you'll fall in love with this series...ENJOY!!! 🐬💜🐬💜🐬

Bland, silly and mediocre The first part is the novel Breakthrough. The novel has no memorable characters, except the dolphins. The dialogue fits the characters but the plot was a bit twisty. This allows the action segments to drive the story without much interference. There is one comment, early on which makes no sense. A character blames the democrats for funding cutbacks to the military. It was totally unrelated to the rest of the conversation. Remember the big budget agreement between Obama and the republicans in the first term. All agencies had their budgets reduced by 10%, I think. The Democratic House and Senate in four almost secret votes put all the military cuts back in and added even more to the military budget, all with approval of the Democratic president. The military budget has increased with every administration, regardless of party for about fifty years now. Bland and the undercover jockeying was not exciting for me. The second and third books were a little worse than the first. The two great dolphins are joined by a sweet gorilla who is also learning to speak to humans. A smart monkey who wasn't brought back to the U.S. in second book must now be captured again. There is much more skulking, running and shooting. The little girl silliness has become love, based on one conversation because the ex-seal is quite the catch. The writer lays it on pretty heavily and it really is jarring. The China insertion is silly. It starts with the one ethnic Chinese CIA agent driving one of the seals two thousand miles by cab. It goes downhill from there. A Russian submarine is captured by the Brazilian navy early in one book and by the end of the book it manages to meet up with a Chinese warship. No explanations for who built the sub, how it escaped the Brazilians or why it shared the Chinese cargo when everyone else involved was killed by the Chinese as a loose end. Each book is written as a disaster story/spy novel. With the main character role spread across a half dozen blurry faces, there' was no emotional link to the story, for me. Bland writing, bland characters, bland action and a nonsensical plot made this mediocre set of three books a chore. I doubt that I'll read any more by this writer.

The first book was aptly titled Breakthrough, and I enjoyed it. It reminded me of my childhood, reading the likes of Michael Crichton or Robin Cook. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 as a standalone. In the second book, Leap, two new characters were introduced, to which major portions of the book were dedicated. Unfortunately, I never connected with them. Which meant I didn’t care about an entire section spread throughout the book. Which meant I didn’t care about an entire section spread throughout the book. It turns out one of those characters (the other is a gorilla) is based on a real person. A person with, I’d imagine, a history and personality all her own. Those connection points just weren’t in the book, which resulted in a character who, to me, felt flat and lifeless. The third book, Catalyst, took effort to get through. Chapters consistently ended in the manner of But little did he know, nothing would ever be the same.* Perspective would change such that we’d encounter the same event from multiple sides:     • X did this, but what Y didn’t know was he was planning that.     • Y saw X do this, but what he didn’t realize was X was planning to do that.     • X did that and Y was taken by complete surprise. Now imagine that, but expand it beyond the three sentences I condensed it to. Another thing that bothered me happened throughout the books, but by the third one I was less willing to brush it aside. Something would be discovered and a character would say “I think we’d better get X on the phone.” Cool, call him - except it’s 4am, let that guy sleep! Because invariably, it was never that important. Now imagine this same situation, but the two people are in the same room. “You’d better sit down for this”, one would say. And then he’d state something that, yeah, maybe the other character wouldn’t have thought of - if say, he was distracted or having a really bad day. But that character would reply with the likes of “Wow”, X was staggered. The implications were just inconceivable. Again, the revelations in these situations were rarely that surprising, or important. Overall, I give the three book series a solid 2 out of 5. It was okay. I won’t be reading the fourth. * Not a direct quote

Two forces at odds and agendas different from each other. The military (and not just ours) is looking for the ultimate secret weapon. The other, scientific, looking for breakthroughs that will change the world. All under the ocean filled with wondrous new things never before found, let alone imagined. If you haven't read this series by Michael C. Grumely, now is the time. A satisfying 3 book set that will open your eyes to possibilities that could benefit, or destroy, mankind. Great INITIAL Story This series of books was immediately VERY GOOD with its initial story line — inter species communications! It’s not even that far-fetched, whether “you believe” or simply enjoy SciFi. I, for one, would have been happier with the storyline if it just stuck to its initial train of thought. Consequently — I only give the three-book series I’ve read 4-Stars, rather than 5; I think the divergence from the initial approach was a hindrance, not a plus.

What a unique concept Michael Grumley has created a exciting and interesting saga of astonishing proportions. Your mix of fact and fiction kept me entailed and up many a night wondering how and where the adventure would turn. I'm always disappointed when good book ends. Knowing there is more to come is reassuring that I will continue to enjoy many more fascinating moments of Mr. Grumley's imagination in the future. Please keep writing, you have me as a fan. Great series I enjoyed this three book set very much. The story line was very upbeat and is a different style than I usually like to read, (I'm not into fantasy at all), but I thought enjoyed the action\adventure side of the story. I also enjoyed the fact that Mr. Brimley wrote the entire series without having his characters rely on using foul language or sex to keep the story moving. Wonderous A wonderful book, well-written. Full of, if you care to stop and think, insights and lessons for humanity's role on this planet. If indeed we currently live alongside other sentient species on this planet, look around at what we've become and done. How exactly do you explain the 'human conditions' - - much less our history -- to them? Don't worry, however, potential readers. That's just me being preachy. The author doesn't. If you like suspense, action, and dolphins, yes, DOLPHINS, You will love these books. Not only are they a great ride but they are clean. Only a slight sprinkling of profanity and not immoral . Could be a movie or series... I thought this was a very unique and exceptional series filled with everything from action, drama, comedy, aliens and love. Once I got started I couldn’t put it down. I’m very partial to mysteries and sci-fi and it had that as well. Very fun read. I advise anyone to take a look.

This three-piece set is really a continuation series, making one long and imaginative read. The author takes a couple of really original ideas, and weaves them into an action story that doesn't disappoint. As a self-published novel, even more impressive to me is the high level of copy editing; none of the typos and punctuation errors so often seen. Give us more!
