I received this book for free from Netgalley and Publisher in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. I found the author did a good job in writing the world building. We meet Kat, she is in a marriage that is unappreciative and while away on a trip, Kat thought she finally met someone that she could trust. but not everything is as it seems. She meets Maus while on her trip but little did she know, Maus already know about her. He has been hired by Kat's husband to spy on her. I felt like I was looking through their eyes in this story. The plot was set up nicely. I look forward to reading more from this author.

🌟🌟 I honestly can't believe I finished this story. It wasn't written very well. I had trouble following the thought processes of the characters and some of the things they said didn't make sense. I felt zero connection to the characters. Lots of tell, hardly any show. 🌟🌟 I honestly can't believe I finished this story. It wasn't written very well. Oh Kat! How did you get trapped in a marriage with this unappreciative man? Maybe it was necessary to get you away from your previous life but it was obvious that he placed little value in your being other than to serve him. You were his trophy. You were his valet. Did he love you more than himself? Wake up girl!

Kat is on a skiing holiday in Canada when she meets Maus, a German who lives in the USA like her and who is also on holiday. He is younger than she is but that doesn’t seem to matter to him at all. She is honest and admits to being married with a small son, but that doesn’t faze him either. They’d live for the now, not for what is in the past he told her. He is perfect for her in every way and seems to intuitively know what she likes. He is gentlemanly and patient and the attraction is immediate and reciprocal and so begins their tender, gentle romance. Kat’s marriage is stale and she is fed up with keeping up appearances and going through the motions. This feels good, natural and she feels loved, respected and more of an equal partner. But all is not as it seems to be. Maus only knows all about her and what she likes because he has been hired and coached by her suspicious and controlling husband Mark Bell, a very rich and successful defence lawyer. The agreement is that Maus must test Kat’s loyalty and fidelity to Mark and in return everything concerning the holiday will be paid for by Mark and also he will work free of charge to free Maus’ best friend who in languishing in gaol unjustly accused of rape by an ‘It Girl’. Kat would be devastated if she found out the truth – mad as mad could be with both men. The trouble is Maus has fallen hard for Kat. The trade off has turned sour. Whatever Maus says or doesn’t say he stands to lose Kat, the trophy wife and he still wants justice for his mate. Disaster is just about inevitable. If only they hadn’t fallen in love it could have all worked out. I liked the idea for this novel a lot and thought the story was well told with interesting characters. I particularly liked the parallel story about Kat’s sister’s romance. They complemented each other perfectly. I loved the romance between Kat and Maus, gradually building up to a sizzling and sensual love story. But what I didn’t like was the ‘after story’ of when Kat was reunited with Mark and they both returned home. I was frustrated by the stall in Kat and Maus’ love story and thought that this fractured and slowed down the pace and tone of the novel altogether, because it changed it so drastically. I also thought the ending was very rushed and could easily have been expanded as this was a relatively short novel. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from publisher Black Rose Writing through my membership of NetGalley. These are my own honest opinions without any outside influences given or taken. I found the novel a mixture of very enjoyable and the feeling of being hijacked, especially as the ending was so poorly executed. So it was with very mixed feeling that I wrote this review.

Once Finn is hired he gets many shocks that end up turning into some life and death situations. He didn't plan on anyone getting hurt when he took an easy job that becomes complicated fast. What is at risk can tear multiple families apart and make everyone involved question what they are willing to risk to get what they want. This book gets 5 stars as it deals with some obstacles that could make a person lose their mind a few times. And the characters have a plot that makes the setting and storyline so believable and full of suspense. This book is really a must have!

I was instantly dawn to the title of this book, how cute and clever! Who would Kat and Maus be and what was their game? I could not put this book down, before I knew it, it was over. When it first started, I had this really bad impression of Kat and believed she was in the wrong, I kept waiting for it, the more things unraveled, the more I realized she was not, in my opinion. Others may see it differently.

I had a hard time getting into this book. For the most part, the MCs were unlikeable. I started out liking Kat, but she became increasingly vapid and pitiful to me as the story went on. Mark was obsessive, and the premise for him hiring Finn was flimsy at best. Some scenes with side characters seemed to have no purpose. I received a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Unique story I normally don’t read this kind of story. When I read the excerpt and saw a man wrote it, I was intrigued. No offense guys, but it’s hard to find books about love written by men. I almost always love them. It’s nice to hear their take on a story. This was amazing. I know some readers will be reluctant since it involves cheating, but don’t worry, the husband brought it on himself. He set the whole thing up. Kat was so beautiful and sweet and a very devoted wife and mother. Her husband , Mark, was a big criminal defense attorney and had no time for her. She was like a trophy wife. He was never interested in anything she liked and wouldn’t talk about his day because he felt she couldn’t understand legal stuff. He asked her one day about the mileage on the car and she never answered. So he gets suspicious. Now comes the good part. A guy approaches him to act as an attorney for his friend. But they have no money. So he takes the case if the guy, Maus, will go on a skiing trip and try and seduce his wife. But he must get pictures. This is the best adventure. I don’t want to tell you how it ends. Mark is real shallow and thinks money can buy anything. In the end, what truly makes one happy? Kat finds material things aren’t what make or break you. She would rather have quality time spent with a loved one than a lot of time with all kinds of fine things and money. Maus is a simple guy who has been in the war. He is so hot. And very likable. I felt so bad when they returned home and Mark had hidden all the messages from him and emails. Read this guys. You will like it.

This is a weird book. At first, I thought the weird was intentional, so I liked it---no doubt Mark is a strange dude. But when we moved onto other characters' POVs and the weirdness continued, I realized it was unintentionally weird. I think we're supposed to root for Kat?? But as another reviewer put it, she is straight up vapid, and I'll add hella annoying. The plot was potentially interesting but poorly executed. I never bought anyone's motivations. It was like they were all really bad actors reading from an even worse soap opera-esque script. The dialogue was stiff and unrealistic. Several situations were also unrealistic. Like a kid sitting in the backseat of a snowbound car only noticing after an HOUR of being stuck and his parent freaking out that something might be wrong. Or like when a couple heads to the top of a ski hill in a gondola, and the guy cuts the crotch of her ski pants open with a knife so they can get it on. All I could think about was her having to ski down the hill with a giant HOLE IN HER PANTS AND UNDIES, but this is never brought up as an issue. He simply says the pants can be mended when they get back to the hotel. What? The book contains several more examples of the like, but I'll leave it at that. Giving the extra star because it at least made me curious enough to finish.

Good love story Kat Connor is married to Mark who is a wealthy prominent lawyer. She has a son named Quinn which is the only happiness she has. Finn comes to Mark looking for legal help to get his buddy out of jail but can't afford to pay him. Mark has recently been asking his wife how she puts so many miles on the car but doesn't get a satisfactory answer. Mark is thinking that Kat is having an affair. So Mark sends Finn to his tailor to get lots of rich clothing and teaches him what Kat likes. Good love story Kat Connor is married to Mark who is a wealthy prominent lawyer. They do end up in love but when they leave the resort Mark blocks all Finm's calls, texts, emails, and letters to Kat. Will love prevail? I love how strong and resourceful Kat becomes. A little too sexless a story for my tastes.

A Satisfying Read I'm not sure why I like this book. I think it's the ending that hooked me, the possibility of forever love. We all expect forever love to last. But this love story has cracks and fractures, just like the ice underneath all the pretty snow where Kat and Finn find their lives in peril. We survive love, the heartache hidden from view until a fissure which has been slowly eroding, breaks from the constant pressure built up behind the facade. Kat and Finn survive too. A quick good read! I won this book on goodreads. This is a quick love/hate/falling in love story that anyone can relate to if you where married to a controlling partner. Kat finds herself in what she thought was love, but instead a controlled marriage to a lawyer. Mark, her husband, goes as far as ordering her meal when they go out to eat without asking what she would like. What she wants is not what he ordered. But she doesn’t complain. If you like romance novels, you will love this. Easy to relate to Kat and Mark Bell’s situation. It is the type of relationship us women have been in or currently in now. I won’t spoil any details but it’s always empowering to see a woman who set aside and sacrificed their happiness to pursue their goals or passions to be the perfect wife and mother to finally living out their dreams. Way to go Kat!

Loved the LA and Canadian West connection this book delivered. The authors obviously did their research respecting the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. As a former employee of this hotel chain, I enjoyed reading the chapters involving the hotel, and I must say they got it right - with some creative license, but I really loved the story development. A very cool interesting story, almost with a mystery twist approach. You'll enjoy the book. Loved the LA and Canadian West connection this book delivered. This is an interesting read - just because it has an unusual plot line. The writing style is a little rough in places, and it is under-edited for grammar and sentence structure. There were also plot moves that seemed inconsistent with the characters or disconnected from the other action. Overall, it was a worthwhile read. I assume it was free or almost so since I rarely download a book by an author I don't know unless it's a giveaway. This is an interesting read - just because it has an unusual plot line. Sweet love... Pleasant escapism, while interesting, there are few surprises. Authors are good at creating sympathetic characters as well as a villainous character. Respites of humour helped move the story along.

An interesting read. I like books that take me along for a ride and I don't really know exactly where they'll end up--Kat, Maus, and Mark's story was certainly a ride. I enjoyed the subtle romance and the larger story of Kat finding what it is which makes her happy and fulfilled. An interesting read.
