This was one of the best "Christian" books I've read in quite sometime. It was funny, thought provoking, entertaining, you could feel the text jump out and grab you, hold you captive. God's will for our life should not, could never be reduced to a formula. The Authors goal was to make us look at the Will of God more broadly, he did that with examples and metaphors. The Author died in church during service in front of 800 people. His death raises the question; was it God's will? The writing is creative and laid-back, a refreshing style. He raises good questions and points, but honestly, the theology is weak. The issue of God's sovereignty (how much does He know or plan about our lives?) isn't addressed, which is crucial in how we approach God's will. Much of his reasoning is based on experience and "logic" instead of on Scripture. It was disappointing enough I didn't read the last couple of chapters. Interesting book - very easy read. Most of the book is "fluff" and personal stories from the author, but it really helps you look at doing "God's Will" in a new light. If you look at God's Will as you would a parent looking at a child, you realize it's much more about God walking along side us helping us learn how to make good choices, rather than a puppetmaster pulling everyone's strings. I also read this book while I was in Uganda and to be honest it made me a little sad. I thought that Kyle Lake made some really great points about what God's will is for our lives but it was sad because Kyle was electrocuted while doing a baptism at his church almost two years ago and he talks a lot about watching his three children grow up in this book and now he never will. I loved how Kyle Lake talked to you - he did not assume a role of preacher but of friend when writing this book. Making the opinions expressed all the more poignant, Kyle's death remained in my mind while reading. Some may find the style a bit odd, but definitely worth a read. It's quick, funny and thought provoking Some may find the style a bit odd, but definitely worth a read. It's quick, funny and thought provoking

A book that actually changed the way I think about things on a day to day basis. I haven't read it in 8 years, but back then - what a breath of fresh air. Will awaken your thoughts on God's will for your life. After reading you will forever think twice before throwing around the term "God's will". Will awaken your thoughts on God's will for your life. After reading you will forever think twice before throwing around the term "God's will".
