Laura, oh Laura the trouble you have caused for the Motherlands and the Nmen. Thank you. It's because of you that we owe this journey too. Back in book one The Protector, Laura decided she wanted to stand on her own feet and crossed the border setting Magni into a rage so deep that he then crossed the border but, being unable to retrieve Laura he does the unthinkable and breaks a treaty that has been set in place for I believe 300 years and kidnaps a  female Motlander (Name for people of the Motherland). Way to go Magni. So that should catch you for the most part. To really get caught up read the series because it is AMAZING. The Warrior picks up rather quickly with Elin wasting no time for the duo to reconnect. Which I was pleased to see, I don't know how much longer I could have waited for the two to essentially battle it out.  This book however I felt leaned more towards the sexual components. Not a bad thing. The scenes were well written, there was just so much more than the previous books. Which makes sense considering the couples time apart from each other. The storyline developed nicely, with Laura still trying to prove that she is as strong as any man even though she is woman. And Magni still being the brute of man he is stuck in gender specific roles. The big difference I notice in Book 5 vs. the other four books is that the past characters while they remain a part of the plot we don't get to revisit them as much as the other books allowed. But even for the times they did come into play Elin was sure to give us an update as too where the characters stood and how they progress of the integration school was forming. Being able to not only following the growth of our adult member but our students and teachers aid added the perfect touch allowing Magni to grow and showing Laura that Magni is the softest teddy bear of them all when it comes to the students in particular, the young Mila. There were many times when I wanted to scream at the both of them, when they were together and when they were separated. Both had a way of pushing you to the edge of dislike only to win you over again with the reasoning behind their action. I had a long battle myself with these two extremely stubborn and hard-headed characters. But in the end, you can't deny the chemistry that these two have. This book shows that even though you and your spouse may not share the same opinion doesn't mean that a relationship can't withstand. To read more reviews by me check out https://shealwaysreads.com/

DNF @30% Sooooooo disappointed. There was so much buildup to their reunion and it completely fell flat on its face. Laura turns into a rag doll immediately seeing Magni again, like, IMMEDIATLY. I thought I was going to get this awesome heroine with a backbone of steal and instead I get a jelly-legs heroine. BOOOOOOO

❤️❤️❤️½ In book 1, Laura left her husband Magni after two years of marraige because she wanted a partnership and equality. She felt suffocated, dominated and dependent. It is book five and Laura has finally returned from the Motherlands to an angry Magni. I was disappointed with the relationship evolution. It was a surface treatment and I didn't really feel Magni's pain like I did Finn's background. This book became more of Magni does this and that because that's how he shows you love. He uses actions, not words. Magni is a protector, blah blah blah. The author didn't really deal with this relationship to my satisfaction but I dislike Magni just a tad bit less than when I started this book. I respect what he does for the Northlands and his brother Khan, but he is still a jerk.

It was a nice read but I didn't love it as much as the other books in this series. I was originally going to give this 2 stars but the main reason I went with 3 instead is Magni! I had such high hopes for this one and If it wasn't his book, I probably would have stopped reading mid-way. He was the saving grace for me. I loved the parts of his pov but the rest annoyed me! especially, Laura, She didn't know what she wanted and she just dragged Magni in to mess after mess because of it. It was too much back and forth between him and Laura. The arguments felt pointless and It felt a little repetitive. It was the same pattern over and over. They would disagree, have an argument where neither said what they wanted, Laura would become stubborn, run away, Magni would become heartbroken, order her to come back, she would refuse, and then return eventually, they would have sex and go back to the arguing. Their problems could've been resolved so much quicker. I wanted their story to be different than this. It was non-stop arguments, until the last 20% of the book where everything resolved itself. I just didn't like it. I did love the Epilogue though. It was nice to see the glimpse into the future a little. Now to see what the next one brings! I am really looking forward to the next book! Happy reading

Magni's story was one that had been anticipated for quite a while, ever since the beginning of the series, but I was not one of the people that were anticipating this story. I didn't have much interest in Magni, always content to think of him as an entitled jerk. This book revealed a good bit of his softer side, which improved my opinion of him a good deal. I thought that Laura was rather hard on Magni, often castigating him for things she herself could not do, especially in the communication department. I also hated her manipulation of Magni with her comments about decisions she was making. She knew the impact she would have on him, but did it anyway. It came across as cruel, and I hated her for it, even though I could see myself within her actions. Laura and Magni were separated for much of the book, and while it was great for introspection and growth, after the long separation of the previous books, it came across as more of the same and rather detracted from the story in my eyes. I loved the epilogue of the story, and am excited to see where the saga goes from here!

Elin Peer has this incredible gift of creating characters, situations even whole worlds that allow you to totally escape your own world for a time. I haven't found many authors who have been able to accomplish that and consider myself lucky to have stumbled across her and her books. This story is no different. I awaited anxiously for this book - book 5 in the series. Magni, the hero of this story, always fascinated me with the glimpses we saw of him in previous books. So now I wait patiently (or maybe not to patiently) for the next book in the series to arrive.

FANTASTIC - I really loved the Seducer but this one, oh Elin Peer stole my heart. This was an almost modern day story of respect, love and equality with the one you love. Im going to have to decide if I want to continue with book 6 the next few days (I've been listening to the audiobooks). Its just that the overall storyline seems to be moving at a slow pace. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to rate this book, but I went with a 5, because I love the series, and because there were so many things that I really loved about Magni and Laura’s story. Honestly, I loved being in Magni’s point of view, and I loved him way more than I expected. Unfortunately, being in Laura’s viewpoint made me like her less. She was childish and so determined to bring Magni to his knees, to force him to see her way of things but offering to return little in the form of compromise. Magni learning to understand and accept his emotions was a fantastic journey to read. I could understand his pain, his feelings of betrayal, and nobody was trying to really get down deep with him. Khan and Laura didn’t have the tools for it, but it left Magni’s betrayed feelings raw and painful with no way to soothe himself. Magni is an excellently-written character of transformation. Surrounded by his perceived betrayals, misunderstood, and unsupported, he went inside and found his own answers. It takes a strong man to do that. Laura’s change came only when she finally drove him away seemingly for good—and even then, when he returned, he had to make the first move. Yay for the fiercest of the Nmen. I look forward to the next book, set a few years in the future. The work started in these first five books should have begun to manifest in the Nmen and Momsie societies. I can’t wait to see what trouble they can get into next.

I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. Ahhhhhh......the long awaited story of Magni and Laura! I was so worried how this one would turn out since it's been building since the first Men of the North book and was the catalyst for what happens in the four books before this one. I should of known that Peer would deliver. Did she ever deliver! I laughed, cried, got pissed, and said a few "wtf's" (sorry Motherlanders!). Poor Magni was under appreciated from all sides. How he held it together for so long I habe no clue. He also threw the worst tantrums and was completely resistant to change. Laura was entitled but wanted to be shown just even the tiniest bit of respect from Magni. Neither would communicate their desires properly so nothing ever changed. Peer scared the crap outta me in a few parts of this book. I won't spoil it, but I will say the death I thought there was going to be had me tearing up in anticipation while reading! I love the conflicts in these books, culturally, morally, men vs women, all of it. I love seeing how they each deal with situations and hurdles along the way to change. Wonderful wonderful addition to the Men of the North and I'm so happy Magni and Laura finally got their HEA!

I think this is the book that we’ve been waiting for since the first book, Magni and Laura. At first I felt for Laura and didn’t want her to go back to the Northlands. But as the series has gone one Magni has gotten better for me. I liked that with this book he was forced to think about what he wanted in his life and realized that compromise was the key, also he needed to learn to express himself. You would think that Laura would be better at expressing herself, but she had issues too. The talk I think this is the book that we’ve been waiting for since the first book, Magni and Laura. Magni doesn’t get the news very well and he enters a downward spiral of depression and alcohol. He is constantly angry and looking for fights. In his eyes love equals loyalty and Laura just betrayed him in the most brutal way. Let alone thateverybody is laughing at him because he couldn’t keep his woman. He is the second in command, brother of the Ruler, the captain of the army and his wife managed to ridicule him. His pride took a massive blow that it will be hard to rebuild without him going the extra mile of being cruel and cold hearted. Little bit about the book: Laura comes back from Motherland with a plan in mind. She will talk with Magni to end their differences and make him admit his feelings for her (if he has any). She will get his respect and make him realize that they are equal. She will stop bowing to him and go against him if she has to so he can see reason. Laura is back but nothing is changed in Magni’s book. She is still his wife. She still belongs in his house and in his bed. He just have to be more protective of her so she won’t leave again and make her stop wanting to discuss about their feelings. True men don’t talk about emotions and don’t show any weaknesses by admitting love and care. Plus, he can’t go soft like the rest of his friends that started giving their wives power by listening to their ideas and taking their suggestions and advice into consideration. Someting like this will never happen. This marriage is destined to fail if nothing changes. So what’s gonna happen? Who’s gonna give in? On one hand, you have Laura. She used to be innocent and sweet Laura but now she is changed. She knows who she is and what she wants, and this is Magni’s respect and love. She won’t back down and let Magni walk all over her. Although she never told him, she loves him, but if push comes to shove she’s determined to leave him again. On the other hand, you have Magni. Broody and ready-to-snap Magni. He feels lonely and abandoned by everyone. He hates change and doens't give in. The only thing he can rely on is his pride and the loyalty of his people, and that’s where Laura failed him. She hit him in the 2 most precious things to him and he is lost now. She betrayed him so many times that made him wonder if she ever had feelings for him or if it's better to just let go. Both are stubborn and think they are right. Both won’t back down and compromise. Is there a middle ground they can both stand on and find happiness? Read it to find out My thoughts about the book: This book is different than the other ones. Both of the characters are from Northland so their differences are more personal than political. I didn’t know how Elin Peer will handle Magni and I have to admit I was a bit scared to open the book. He was my favourite character out of everyone and I have a crush on him so I built him so high in my mind, I thought my expectations were a bit too much. But then..... Elin Peers delivers. This guy is everything I hoped for. This mountain of a man falls but falls with grace. Laura is everything he needs and deserves. She is strong and self confident. She stands by him and she’s been in love with him since forever. She knows she made mistakes and she is not afraid to point them out and apologize for them. These two are a match made in heaven. Note 1: Love the cover. I love the fact that both of them are on it. The amount of times I zoomed in to check Magni out is embarrassing but what can I say? I’m in love Note2: Love the title. The more I read the more I was wondering whom it was referring to. I think both Magni and Laura deserve it. Note 3: Love the epilogue. We had a HFN endings in the previous books because of the background stories that continue to play along each book. Since The Warrior is the last one from the first company of men (the main characters of the rest of the books of the series are teenagers in these ones) there is an amazing epilogue. A fantastic one. A brilliant one. I got my ending people and it’s all I dreamed of. Can't wait for the Genious. Shelly is very intriguing and it will be real fun to see Marco fall after the way he was treating her. I literally giggle right now just by thinking these two.

This was the one book I couldn’t wait for and it surely didn’t disappoint. Mango what can I say. He was so full of his own importance and truly didn’t have much time for the Motlanders. It was beautifully written but in such a way that the reader had a very graphic visual of what Magni was really like as a person. Laura was amazing. She blossomed into a strong woman and I was so impressed that she finally stood up for herself against Magni. It proves that just because a man is big and powerful there is nothing more powerful than a strong woman who will stand her ground when she knows she is right. I also loved the way that Magni was with Mila. She is a beautiful little girl both inside and out and it wasn’t hard to see why he was so endeared to her. The final epilogue of the book had me in tears. It was just amazing Elin Peer. You are a genius of a writer and I am so looking forward to the next instalment.

Fantastic, wonderful! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I have been waiting for Magni’s story since I first read the first Men of the North book. A lot of their problems were completely communication based, it was wonderful to watch them work through it. I loved that it was a struggle and didn’t happen in a matter of days. It was a process, they both had to work on themselves. Laura was naive and I had to keep reminding myself she was only 20. But nevertheless she was still strong, brave, and strong willed. She was the force that Magni needed. She drove me completely crazy at times, but I liked that she went after what she wanted. I am dying for Shelly and Marcos story!!!

This book is absolutely amazing, and so is the author! Every man of Men Of The North has grown so much since the very first book heck I couldn’t stand any of them in the beginning all I wanted to do was knock their teeth out and bang their heads up against a brick wall when it came to their views of women and where a women’s place was. But they’ve all changed so much since that first book. Magni and Laura’s story was definitely a emotional roller coaster ride. But they’ve all changed so much since that first book. Magni and Laura’s story was definitely a emotional roller coaster ride. They both had a power struggle going on and it took awhile before they found a common ground on which they both could stand on. Magni finally showed a more vulnerable side and Laura finally showed more of a steel backbone. At the end of that power struggle they both finally figured out what they wanted and needed, because by then they both finally figured out what was really more important to them and that was each other. And that’s all I’m going to say about this book. This story will give you so many emotions and a rush of adrenaline that you’ll be wanting more by the time you get to the end. So yes I most certainly am recommending this book to anyone who’s interested in taking a walk on a tightrope without a harness or a safety net below to catch them if they fall. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest opinion.

The Warrior: Men of the North V, by Elin Peer. The Warrior, apart from being a racketing good adventure romance, is an exploration of communication, or rather miscommunication, between two admirable people--Magni and Laura. Magni is second-in-command of the Northlanders and Laura is his wife. Both love each other deeply, but are struggling to allow their true personalities to emerge from a sea of repressed emotion. Laura is tired of being the passive, submissive wife Northland culture demands. Ma The Warrior: Men of the North V, by Elin Peer. Magni is second-in-command of the Northlanders and Laura is his wife. Both love each other deeply, but are struggling to allow their true personalities to emerge from a sea of repressed emotion. Laura is tired of being the passive, submissive wife Northland culture demands. Magni is struggling to allow his softer, saner self to emerge from his stern dominant strong-man persona. Both persist in suppressing their deep emotional feelings for each other. The conflicts and misunderstandings as a result crackle and blaze from the pages throughout the book, almost to the very last page. At heart their conflicts reflect the struggle between male and female for equality and respect. They also reflect the struggle between two conflicting cultures, that of the Motherlanders and the Northlanders. The former now rule the world after a disastrous nuclear holocaust that nearly obliterated society. It is a culture based on peace, meditation, and cooperation. The latter, in contrast, is male-dominated, often brutal, and with a rigid set of rules regarding male-female relationships. Both, in a sense, are exaggerations, a result of the near destruction of the world they both inhabit. But the male/female conflict between Laura and Magni is compared and contrasted with the relationships between other couples in this wonderful romantic adventure. There is the growing understanding between the ruler Khan and his Councilwoman wife Pearl, which began in the book The Ruler. Then there is the developing loving relationship between the doctor Finn and priestess Athena, which began in the book The Seducer. But even more significant is the relationship between Alexander Boulder and his archaeologist wife Christina as they strive to overcome the handicaps of both cultures by schooling Motherlander and Northlander children together to create understanding and compassion between north and south. Their saga began in The Protector and continued in The Mentor. In the end, it is the children of these relationships that come to matter. Education is seen as the solution to these difficult cultural problems, and as children are born from the dueling couples, co-ed education becomes the key to merging cultures peacefully. There is a very moving epilogue when the couples get together and begin to count the children that are being born as a result of their matings. In all, they count thirteen births--enough to fill a school--not counting other children who are adopted along the way. Elin Peer has truly created a brave new world which is at once adventure, romance, and mentor for future generations. The Warrior is not the culmination of the story, but the beginning of the new order under which the children begin to take over from their parents. Truly a remarkable series which combines science fiction, romance, and prophesy. Not least remarkable is the fact that Peer's own daughter, Pearl, at thirteen, played a significant part in the writing of this novel. Surely an indicator of things to come in this remarkable series.

In every book series there is a character who's story you are desperate for. Since first meeting Magni in The Protector, I have been eager for his book but also worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Pah - how foolish of me to have worried so needlessly. If I hadn't literally fallen asleep whilst reading this, I would have read it in one sitting. I laughed, I cried and I fell totally and utterly in love, again, with the complex and wonderful man that is Magni Aurelius. If I hadn't literally fallen asleep whilst reading this, I would have read it in one sitting. I laughed, I cried and I fell totally and utterly in love, again, with the complex and wonderful man that is Magni Aurelius. Small wonder Laura found him so hard to resist, even when he was being a pig-headed fool there is still something special about him. We find some amazing things out about Magni in this book, some of them will break your heart. They all work to build a picture of the amazing man underneath the hard, gruff and controlling shell. Laura is simply amazing, and in many ways she is the character most similar to a woman of our time. I loved that she realised she had made mistakes too and that changes were needed from both her and Magni if they were ever to find the HEA. As with all the books in this series, there are two stories running at the same time. Along side Laura and Magni's story of discovering their love is the ongoing story of integration between the Northlands and Motherlands. Although you could read this as a stand alone, it would work so much better if you have read at least The Protector and better still all four previous books. Every single book is extremely well written, thought provoking and has made me both laugh and cry. The stories within them are powerful, captivating and lasting. I can't wait to read the next book, The Genius, to see both what the future holds for Shelley and for the Nmen and Motlanders too. PS - almost forgot to mention that writing talent obviously runs in this family. There are two amazing poems quoted in the book, that were written by the author's daughter. Well done, you make an awesome writing pair!

This is absolutely one of the best stories of the series, they just seem to keep getting better. Finn promised that he would try to find Laura and try to convince her to come home. Finn fell in love with Athena while he was visiting and brought her back with him because she got hurt during the earthquake .Magni was happy to see Laura but didn't know how to express himself except by demanding that she listen to him. Laura talked with Athena and realized a lot about herself as well as her husband growing up in the Northland she saw how different her life was to the way she had been living in the Motherland and she liked the freedom she had but she loved her husband but he always wanted her to do as he told her without question and she was determine to prove herself to him but she didn't realize that she didn't know how her husband thought because they didn't talk and realizing that she made even more mistakes that caused them both distress. Now it seems like they may never get back to gather because Magni finds out she is not one of them anymore in his mind she has betrayed him so he leaves for Alaska and all hell seems to break loose. I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author. I am providing an honest review without obligation
