I have read all the books in this series, mainly because they are set in Edinburgh. The carry on plot was a bit tiresome and the ending just downright annoying. These are quite interesting books and the plots are certainly complicated. In fact a little too complicated with a few too many characters. These books are certainly fast paced and quite thrilling at times. There is a soap opera feel to some of the story and the writing lacks the crispness of say, Ian Rankin. Certainly up there with Stuar I have read all the books in this series, mainly because they are set in Edinburgh. The carry on plot was a bit tiresome and the ending just downright annoying. Certainly up there with Stuart Macleod in that the language and conversation is crude and revolting at times. References to underwear and sex abound. Not sure if I will keep reading this series.

Reverting read. If you enjoy a crime novel that grips your attention from page one and takes you on a roller coaster journey throughout this is the book (series ) for you. Just as I thought I had got things sussed, I was proven wrong and had to read on and revaluate. If like me you enjoy trying to work out the outcome as you read this book will keep you on your toes. Best read as a series as the core characters and relationships are developed in each novel and in a way that made me really care abo Reverting read. Quite the thriller A few glaring errors or would be 5 stars . Was Tamara a doctor or a nurse ? Anyway , 2 previous characters were smuggled out of a secure psychiatric prison hospital. Frank was being implicated . Behind the scenes we have Mr Black and Mr Blue running around setting him up. Children and adults were abducted . And Frank thinks he's seeing his deceased wife running around town . Complicated and scary . I finished the book not sure why Frank was being tormented though . I might hav Quite the thriller A few glaring errors or would be 5 stars . Was Tamara a doctor or a nurse ? Anyway , 2 previous characters were smuggled out of a secure psychiatric prison hospital. Excellent! This is an exciting, confusing, heart pounding adventure from start to finish! Lots of different story lines, that may or may not intersect. I do not like Bruce Hagan, however, and hope we have seen the last of him. Terrific series!

An engrossing story. Frank Miller's life is never dull. I almost read the whole story in one sitting, but alas couldn't stay awake. Now I can get the washing done. Hurry with the next installment. Ann An engrossing story. Frank Miller's life is never dull. I almost read the whole story in one sitting, but alas couldn't stay awake.
