A bit of a step down from the first book. The interesting world building and characters are still there but the book is endlessly repetative - the same thoughts and phrases are used constantly to the point that i was grinding my teeth thinking "Okay, i get it". I also felt that the plot was a bit lacklustre and didnt really lead anywhere. A bit of a step down from the first book. This is a wonderful series! I am very impressed with this author and his ability at world building and character development. He also knows how to put feeling into his character’s relationships. I am curious to know how he will further develop Sam and Alec’s relationship. They seem to be getting closer. I’m looking forward to a little bit more romance between them. Sam is beginning to learn more about her background and where she came from which has been one of her greatest motivations. This is a This is a wonderful series! Alec and Sam This series is taking its time to get the history regarding the Book of Maladies, the Thelns, and the Kavers and Scribes. I think it is a good series but for someone like me who is impatient i struggled to go read through not skim through to find how the pieces to the puzzle fit.

Compelling story to read, a dept of intel into all characters daily lives makes this a captivating read. Can't wait to start next book in the series once I have finished one. I would recomend the saga to anyone that like a great story and wiil do so to my daughters as they like the same type of books that I do Compelling story to read, a dept of intel into all characters daily lives makes this a captivating read. This series is good, it does keep me reading but I find there are several slow and boring spots through out the books. At least the first 2. But a good read just the same.

Probably a bit more interesting in some ways and less in others when compare to the first book. Loved the ending.

This book was fine - I'm struggling to care about the story and characters, but lets see where things go. This book was fine - I'm struggling to care about the story and characters, but lets see where things go.

Great storyline and well told. I gave it four stars because there were a lot of grammatical errors. I'm enjoying the story though. The author is skilled in his art. Great storyline and well told. A good tale Second in the developing series, this shows continued promise. A bit like JK Rowling, but with more smoke and mirrors. Looking forward to this next one.
