I just finished a spirit-filled thriller romance from Rosalind Morris called The Wages or The Gift and really enjoyed it. The thriller part is well done, exciting, and tense. The romances [and there are several] are a bit predictable but realistic. Where the book shines, though, comes through the daily walk of the spirit-filled characters within the story. Most Christians do not get to see and experience a powerful walk with the Lord. This book shares that type of life with us quite well. The story contains a palpable sense of the presence of the Lord. It’s quite possible the slight predictability will not even be noticed by non-believers or nominal believers. The real joy of the story shows clearly here. The trials push hard against everyone, including the reader. The darkness sucks life out of the room. But the light glows with joy. The scarcity of spirit-filled thriller romance stories I’ve talked about this issue repeatedly, in fantasy, action/adventure, and scifi also. Rosalind has given us a gift. For that, she has earned the REality Calling award for spirit-filled fiction. This story truly blesses the reader, as well as entertaining the same. For a first book, this is very good. There were a few formatting problems for me, but that is not unusual with the iPad version of the Kindle app. Rosalind reassured me and is checking out a couple of issues I found. But, spread the news far and wide. Here’s a thriller which contains Truth and shares reality within an exciting and realistic world. We need to celebrate that. For it to be effective, it needs to be in the hands of non-believers and nominal believers—though it was certainly a blessing to me also. Ms. Morris gave me a review copy with no strings, and I’m happy to report, “It’s a good book.”

After reading The Wages or the Gift by Rosalind Morris, I am reminded of a saying by T.D. Jakes “Destiny is not for comfort seekers. Destiny is for the daring and the determined who are willing to endure some discomfort, delay, and gratification and go where destiny leads.” The characters in this book must delay their own gratification of the flesh in order to abide by the presence of God in their lives. This book pulls no punches about what it takes to walk out of the secular world and into the warm light of Christ. The author ‘s voice conveys a specific message that confirms “Destiny is not for comfort seekers.” Full of mystery, romance, and divine favor, readers should not be discouraged by the 400 plus pages because the plot inspires you to keep reading as you witness each character unfold into the arms of Jesus. The manner in which this author approaches character transformation shows the dilemma many modern Christians face before becoming a true believer. The prayers written in the book, coupled with the songs, solidifies the author ’s knowledge of religious scripture. But this book is not all about a divine destiny as the pages are intertwined with forces of good and evil, leaving you anxious to find out more about the high society organization that challenges everyone involved. This novel is a true testament that we were meant for more.

The Wages or the Gift is full of suspense, poignant moments, and uplifting subplots. The narrative is particularly powerful because it shows flawed characters touched by grace and empowered to do incredible things. I recommend this book for any readers looking for an enriching faith-based read.

This is a new author for me and I hope to read more of her books in the future. I love how she portrays her messages through her characters. I'm loving how her writing style brings the story to life. She also writes from her heart. BOOK REVIEW I dare say that this is one of the best Christian fiction books I’ve read this year, I believe. This book grabbed me from the moment I read it to the end. If you are a Christian this book is a must. I believe it accurately takes you on a journey you face or have faced in the real world. Myself, not at all a Christian enjoyed the book. It is well crafted and the research that had to go into this novel is excellent. So for Christians and those of us who love a well-crafted novel, its a must read. Kudos to the author; its an excellent entry to the literary world.

This is Rosalind’s first Christian Suspense novel and I thought it was very good. It had an excellent plot and if you like a novel about spiritual warfare then this one is for you. It is strongly Pentecostal, or Charismatic in it’s spiritual flavor, but since I am Pentecostal myself I understand this and it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. This book is about how evil invades a well known modeling agency and the life threatening dangers that the characters incur as they search for information about what is happening. You will love Stephen (or Steph) and Ebony as they work out their romance and their lives through temptation and their desire to follow God’s plans. I also like that there were lots of dialogue between the characters and you were not inundated with a lot of inner contemplation. Now I feel that I need to point out a couple of things that I didn’t particularly care for. #1 I felt the book was too lengthy . It would have been better had it at been at least 75 pages shorter. #2 I know a lot of Authors do not use contractions in their writing which this author didn’t do as well. But I thought it made the dialogue seem stilted and not flow like a normal conversation would. But all in all a good Suspense that will keep you guessing throughout. This book was given to me by the Author with no requirement for a review. These are my own honest views that are stated.

The Wages Or The Gift by Rosalind Morris is a contemporary Christian thriller that will have the reader glued and guessing. The novel is very much grounded in God with large chunks of scripture to back up what is said. We all have a choice to choose God or not. "People are... one choice away" from good or bad choices. The novel explores the result of both. Believing in God is not about religion. "Religion has not changed my life... Jesus has." The novel is very much grounded in God with large chunks of scripture to back up what is said. We all have a choice to choose God or not. "People are... one choice away" from good or bad choices. The novel explores the result of both. Believing in God is not about religion. "Religion has not changed my life... Jesus has." Believing in God is based on relationship - with Him and with each other. We need to be aware that "God speaks to people's hearts all the time but... we miss it." We need to tune our ears to listen to God and to be obedient. He always has our best interests at heart. His plans are the best plans. Pray without ceasing. Thank God for the good times. Seek His help in times of need. Cover others with prayer always. Within the novel there is corruption and crime at a high level. Organised crime ruins lives whilst filling the pockets of those at the top. There are themes of forgiveness and grace. "The resentment... is eating you away." We forgive because we are commanded to and because it is beneficial for us. God's grace covers all sins. There are no gradients of sin. Sin is sin. At times we find this hard to take in as we compartmentalise sin into 'big' sin and 'little' sin but in God's eyes, it is all sin and all covered by grace. A great read about redemption, choices and the love of God that is freely available for all. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. This story is a beautiful portrayal of the spiritual battle that goes on unseen as we go about our lives. In this story, we follow a group of friends who are a combination of believers and non believers. In this story, we follow a group of friends who are a combination of believers and non believers. And during the story, there are quite a few clear presentations of the gospel message and the author realistically presents the variety of responses we may get when we seek to share the gospel with others. So not only is this book an intriguing story of a modeling agency that has evil in its midst that impact the lives of those involved but it is also a practical example of ways of battling in the spiritual warfare as well as examples of natural ways to present the gospel. But most of all, I like how prayer is such an incremental part of the narrative in this story. Again this goes to the fact, that prayer is our greatest weapon in this world where we are involved in unseen spiritual warfare. My favorite quote in the book was just before they entered in the toughest part of the battle and a pastor spoke over them, sharing a message from God saying "I am sending you into the enemy's camp as light amidst the darkness...Trust in me always" I will make one other comment, the story had a strong Pentecostal focus which is not my background, but that did not deter from overall narrative. I just kept an open mind that we all live out our faith walk in different ways.
