He quotes John Wesley's famous saying, "Earn all you can, give all you can, save all you can." He recommends reading The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason. He admits that most of what he has shared in this book has come from his dedication to becoming financially literate and studying financial books. He gives tips for getting out of debt, saving for retirement, getting an education without going deep into debt, and generousity. I think my favourite chapter is in which he gets you to define your fears. He says, "Often our fears are not based on reality, but on our gross exaggeration of our reality." So he gets you to create a Fear Exercise Chart. I had done something like this previously and I know this techique works for overcoming fear. However, it was more basic of only having 3 columns and the headings of these columns: Best Case, Likely Case, Worst Case. You take your fear and define these scenarios. You will be amazed at how fear loses its power in your life when you do this. His fear chart was more complex, in that you are also listing Creative Alternatives for the Possible Obstacles and Roadblocks. I found Steven K. Scott's book Mentored by a Millionaire: Master Strategies of Super Achievers had an easier way of explaining how fear blocks our potential and how to develop creative persistence. The author's fear chart was too complex in my opinion. Excellent book nonetheless and loaded with wisdom.

"The wise person invests in things that have lasting value and focuses on more than just a temporal want. But a foolish man spends what he has, and then wonders where it went." [Jonathan Geraci] ... ... Full disclosure --- I spend too much money on travel, dessert, tea & books. While these things bring temporary joy, they aren't going to help me retire comfortably or save for my daughter's college education. I constantly need reminders that spending money now does nothing for my long term goals. If "The wise person invests in things that have lasting value and focuses on more than just a temporal want. If you're a Christian & worried about money being the root of all evil, be prepared to flip that misconception upside down. Pastor Geraci gives Bible-based advice on how to avoid debilitating debt, becoming debt-free, investing one's assets, & sharing accumulated wealth with God's blessing. It has been a blessing to me. I hope it is a blessing to you. It's a brand new day, a brand new year. I hope & pray that your new year is one filled with joy, love, success, & more blessings than your heart can handle!

Bible based principled approach to stewardship This Book spoke to persons living in all financial situations, either those out of debt, those living paycheck to paycheck, and those drowning in debt. I loved the principles he takes from the Bible to apply to your management and attitude towrds money and how it should be reflected in your life and the choices you make when you earn, spend and save. Great book!! If you're looking for get-rich-quick, this is NOT the read for you. Another great challenge: "What about you? Are you ready to get serious about your financial life? Are you ready to apply the fruits of the Spirit, not only in your spiritual life but in your relationships, your health, and your finances? It won't happen by accident. It's not easy, but with determination and the blessing of God, it will happen. The fruit of the Spirit should affect every area of your life. Now get after it."

Great Godly advice! My wife of 38 years and I have seen almost miraculous changes in our lives especially in the last year or two. We have gotten out of debt completely. I was extremely ill last year & even had to stop working for a time. We had managed to pay the mortgage off but still we had a bothersome line of credit to tackle and pay off. I prayed as I suffered physically but never lost my faith that God would heal me (I felt likeJonas-in the whales belly)...and God healed me! We then were b Great Godly advice! The book is so simple to read and digest, it is straight to it's purpose. I personally recommend it to research students doing theology and religion. Well done pastor Geraci. It has been a so important tool to me as a Religion student-M.A.R at this time as I am doing my research on money and wealth at Africa Nazarene University, Kenya. I was hoping this book would help disprove the idea that money is bad and God wants his people to be poor. It was a little helpful with that, but it was mostly about working hard and scrimping. All debt is bad, and you have to feel like a slave and less-than if you have it, etc. Overall, a mixed bag.
