From the author of award-winning “Think and Grow Young” comes this engrossing, true story of transformation to inspire you to live a radically different way. Imagine how it would feel to let go of chronic high stress and the worn out feeling of mild depression. Imagine using simple, proven Mind Body Spirit practices to remain calm and be productive and joyful while the whole world is going crazy. How would it feel to soar fearlessly through life, unruffled by the winds of change? And to have peace of mind and happiness! HOW “JOY! JOY! JOY!” CAN HELP This book is the first detailed self-help guide for you to live happy, seasoned with fascinating stories of how 7 easy Mind Body Spirit habits dramatically and permanently transformed the author’s life, including reversing memory loss, conquering breast cancer and busting the blues. “Joy! Joy! Joy!” is not about stopping anti-depressants. It’s about • ending habitual emotional patterns that abuse your body and scar your soul. • creating new life-affirming habits, like EFT tapping, Power Poses, dry brushing your skin, meditation and affirmations. • providing quick, easy steps on how to relieve stress and have peace of mind. • dissolving that lingering depression malaise: the blahs, the blues. And being filled with quiet joy for no reason. HOW ELLEN WOOD MIRACULOUSLY CHANGED HER LIFE Five years after watching her mother succumb to Alzheimer’s Disease, Ellen’s own cognition and memory began a downward spiral (she has the Alzheimer’s gene, APO-e4). Then at age 67, Ellen’s distress became the wake-up call of a lifetime. Determined to do everything in her power to reverse aging, Ellen developed a program of Mind Body Spirit practices that succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. It not only reversed memory loss, it also brought spiritual transformation, relieved stress, and conquered breast cancer. These practices, which Ellen continues to this day, also give her: • vast amounts of energy • fingers that no longer hurt • a stronger, more flexible body and a clearer, sharper mind than before she began her program. Plus joy for no reason. (That’s a biggie.) Ellen knew she had to share this miraculous program so she wrote and published “Think and Grow Young," the prizewinning book which lays the foundation for rejuvenation and provides vital first steps. She also began her career as a speaker and columnist. THE GENESIS OF “JOY! JOY! JOY!” When she was invited to help address the depression epidemic of a northern New Mexico town, Ellen knew that detailed instructions for all 7 habits were needed and “Joy! Joy! Joy!” was born. Not only do these practices rejuvenate body and soul, they also relieve stress and help people live happy. In these pages you’ll find a step-by- step action plan for the 7 daily Mind Body Spirit self-help practices for growing younger and living happy, most of which take only 2 quick minutes. “Joy! Joy! Joy!” is endorsed by four globally-renowned medical doctors. A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR Curled up in my bed, emotional pain gnawing at my belly, feeling spiritually adrift, I couldn’t remember what it felt like to be happy. Or even neutral. If this seems familiar to you, I understand and I want to help.

Joy! Joy! says it all. Read this book and you’ll discover 7 Mind Body Spirit Self-Help Practices to Relieve Stress, Reverse Memory Loss and Live Happy – I Did It! You Too Can Bust the Blues. Ellen Wood, author of the award-winning Think and Grow Young, now shares how she transformed her many physical and emotional problems to remain peaceful and joyous by making these practices into daily habits: observing your thoughts, releasing toxic emotions, using affirmations, power posing, dry brushing your skin, meditating and doing something good for someone. Her gripping memoir of depression, Alzheimer symptoms, cancer and other distressing situations are interwoven with how she coped, and then miraculously freed herself of chronic stress and the blues. Ellen cites many experts and clinical studies that show how these quick and simple Mind-Body-Spirit practices help people remain calm, productive and joyful no matter what is happening in the world around them. She also sprinkles words of wisdom throughout her story: “When something bad happens, say ‘Something good will come of this,’ then expect something good and watch for it.” You can take charge of your thoughts and emotions, says the author, for example… “Stress doesn’t come from what’s happening to us, but from our response to what’s happening.” The book is entitled Joy! Joy! Joy! because if you put these techniques into practice, you’ll find yourself, like Ellen Wood, filled with joy for no reason, with a closer connection to your inner knowing and to spirit. “Love is often an action first, then a feeling. You love yourself by taking actions in the direction of your wellbeing.” Ellen Wood, at 80, is an inspirational speaker and writer, and I encourage readers of Joy! Joy! Joy! to follow her blueprint, using the bonus Daily Practice Checklists in the back of the book to help you anchor new habits that will transform your life too.

I typically find self-help books, or any type of book that claims they can help someone improve their life, mostly dull. I also find the tips and tricks in most of them to be silly and not truly helpful. That is not how I felt while reading Ellen Wood’s book. I appreciate how there are very specific instructions on how to perform each of these different practices. I like the idea of paying close attention to what your thoughts are at assorted times throughout the day. Releasing toxic emotions is another thing that I found rather intriguing. I even told a close friend of mind about one of the techniques used in this book to help with that issue. My absolute favorite idea suggested in the book is the writing down of positive affirmations. I have been trying to do that recently, but I do like ideas she offered. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to get rid of negative thoughts and energies in their lives pick this book up.

Overall, I think this was an enjoyable self help guide for those seeking to make life changes. I liked the use of personal experiences through out. The writing is simple and accessible. The author's kindness and personality shines through in many ways; it's like having a conversation with a good friend. I liked the included references and summary of actions in each chapter. I can see myself implementing many of these ideas/tasks into my own life. I also see benefit in sharing with my clients. As a mental health clinician, I did have some concerns about some shared ideas and techniques that may not be appropriate for certain high risk individuals. This book is written by a self trained individual rather than a licensed professional. I appreciate her strong recommendation for and support of mental health treatment. I also strongly urge those with more severe mental health symptoms to seek treatment in addition to utilizing these skills. Some of the techniques have potential to do harm or reinforce counterproductive behaviors, which isn't addressed by the author.

I am enjoying the book, and the daily practices really encourage me to work on disciplining myself to really take the time for self -care. It's a challenge to look out for yourself in the midst of caring for family members but I remind myself that if I don't care of me there won't be anyone to take care of my family members. The meditation and affirmations daily, along with prayer, can help keep self in focus in the midst of life's busyness. I think this book has something for everybody in it. While I didn't agree with some items in the book, I did with others that did relate to the Law of Attraction and just being positive in life. I think if you overall want to be a happier person, this is a good book for you because there are several different ways in going about it and you can choose the right way for you.
