This is truly a fantastic book. If you like medieval romance don't miss this!! The story gets you from the first few pages and then you just have to keep going until the end. Truly Kathryn Le Veque is one of the most gifted authors going. Andrew D'Vant has all the qualities of a wonderful Hero and Juliette a wonderful heroine. I also loved the other characters in this book. I will be reading this one again at some point. Really recommended. This is truly a fantastic book. If you like medieval romance don't miss this!! This deserves 10 Stars! This was an epic story that piqued my interest from the very beginning. Andrew d'Vant, the man they call The Red Fury is the best mercenary in all of England and Scotland. When a woman seeks his help he is initially intrigued, but also reminded of his past and he wishes to assist her. He feels this might help him atone for his past. He lives with this hurt in his heart everyday. When the Red Fury meets Josephine de Carron, the Countess of Ayr and Chief of Torridon Castle, he is amazed by the beautiful warrior woman. He really has no room for a woman in his life. He only has vengence and fury in his heart, which he is bound and determined to obtain. Helping this beauty will change his life and he is sure of this, the more he comes to know her. Josephine, has realized she needs help keeping at bay her enemy clan neighbor. He has tried to breach and obtain Torridon castle since her father and brother's death. For the past 2 years, she and her 14 Knights and clan members have had to fight too frequently to keep them from taking over what belongs to her. When one of her Knights, the commander of her Army, suggests and recommends contacting the Red Fury to assist them she reluctantly agrees. She feels it is much better than the alternative. She knows it will be expensive, but if it can result in ending their current situation for good, then she knows she must do it. What she was not prepared for was to have her heart captured by The Red Fury. This story entices you with the hero and heroine's pasts and present situations. All of the secondary characters will leave an imprint in your mind and possibly your heart. Here we have a story of Vengeance that needs to play out, a romance that gets stronger and stronger, strong fealty and loyalty, sacrifices, laugh out loud moments throughout, moments that will grasp your heart and also in epic battle that will make your knuckles go white. This is an epic story in length and context. It is a keeper for me, one that will remain in my home library forever. This author did a fantastic job with this entire story. I highly recommend it!

Oh WOW! Andrew d'Vant is the most powerful mercenary for hire that Scotland or England has ever seen. He is the second son of the Earl of Annan and Blackbank. Upon his father's death, his ruthless older brother takes control of his noble house, threatens the very young Andrew with his life and imprisons his mother. Fleeing, Andrew is ravaged by guilt for being unable to save his mother's life. Fortunately, he is taken under the wing of a mercenary who teaches Andrew his "trade." As a result of his past, as he grows into manhood, a fire of vengeance against his brother fuels him and makes him into a vicious fighter as if every man he fights is his brother. He has a devilish sense of humor, is a cunning negotiator and is excellent at recruiting others to their army. Andrew is also fair, sensible, uncannily intelligent and drop dead gorgeous. The Red Fury is born. Josephine de Carron has a tragic past. Her mother died in childbirth with her sister, Justine. Her brother, the heir, drowned trying to save a peasant's life. Her beloved father was murdered by common bandits. When the betrothed of her brother learns of her love's death, she commits suicide. Now, the family of her brother's intended blames Josephine's family for her suicide and has been attacking the family castle intent on destroying them all. Josephine is strong willed, intelligent and determined to carry on in her father's place. She trains to fight to defend her home and her legacy. However, the attacks are relentless and after two years she is forced to take extreme steps. Hence, she decides to hire the one mercenary she knows is feared the most by all. The Red Fury. This is another amazing epic Kathryn Le Veque. It is 562 pages which is jammed packed with adventure, intrigue, non-stop action and wonderful romance. There is never a dull moment or a lag in the story line. The characters are well developed, fascinating and complex. I LOVED Andrew d'Vant! Josephine had a strength and determination that I totally admired. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and watching the secondary characters and their relationships grow as well. The nail biting sword fight at the end had me on the edge of my seat. It is a FABULOUS story that I will be re-reading many times in the years to come. Classic Kathryn Le Veque! Andrew's story needed to be told and it is an AWESOME one!

Great book This book is long, but held my attention. As with most of Kathryn's books, she has me biting my nails, wanting to cry, scream, and laugh out loud. Absolutely loved the characters. Josephine and Andrew were wonderful and had great adventures, heartaches, and love in this book. I know Sully's story. Now I would like to read Ridge and Donald's stories. ******Spoiler****** I really like Nicolas and would have enjoyed reading his story as well. I hate that he had to be sacrificed. INDULGE YOUR EVERY SENSE! When wanting to delve into a meaty Medieval tale seeped in heart-pulling emotion, Le Veque does a bang-up job providing one! We indulge with our every sense in a realistic setting of medieval life, where women, as much as men, fight for their lives, their honor, and what is theirs—women, men, children and property. It is a time where women have little to say about their lives. It’s a time of kill or be killed, where friends are needed in one hand and a sword fills the other. Andrew d’Vant, a man of determination, embodying hope and courage, seeks to destroy his brother, Alphonese d’Vant, Earl of Annan and Blackbank. For 19 years, his hate for his brother has simmered. He’s a man known as The Red Fury, one who, when battles is upon him, he is beyond fast and ruthless. As a lad, Andrew’s brother banishes him from the manor after putting his own mother in the dungeon. Alphonse is not only hated by Andrew. Most others fear him because he is massive in build with a mean and vicious personality, his cruelty knows no bounds. Alphonse, in his own words, says women are like chickens; a penny for a dozen, so I shall never go hungry. He’s so massive and brutal, women often die under his hand. “…Alphonse lacked everything Andrew possessed—fairness, sensibility, uncanny intelligence, and compassion.” The de Carrons and the Dalmellingtons had been feuding for years. Josephine, eldest daughter of her father is in charge of her keep, now for some three years. The Dalmellingtons keep hammering at them, every two weeks attacking their keep, and with each battle Josephine loses more men, a disheartening endeavor. The idea of hiring mercenaries to help shore up their numbers gets introduced. The best mercenary is hired, Andrew d’Vant, better known as The Red Fury. Sweet Josephine de Carron, a woman as strong as sweet, falls in love with Andrew and he with her. This budding relationship is unbeknownst to the king who wishes to use Josephine de Carron to build a better alliance between the English and Scots, by betrothing her to Andrew’s brother. The day comes where Andrew must face his dragon. He must avenge his mother and protect Josephine from his beat of a brother. I enjoyed hating Alphonse. So much is at stake for both Josephine and Andrew. A sword fight between Andrew and Alphonse could not be more frightening leaving me pitifully hanging on every sentence, and ultimately holding my heart in my hands! The supporting friends of Josephine and Andrew are well developed, entirely appealing, which have me eager to see them appear in any following stories for the d’Vant’s. I am particularly drawn to Justine, Josephine’s sister, who fancies herself a physic and mystic, Nicholas de Londres, nephew to King Alexander, a talented and compassionate man, and friend to Josephine; Ridge, bodyguard to the king who has more honor in his little finger than what King Alexander possesses! We learn little about Ridge, other than owing a debt to Josephine, but I’d love to see Le Veque write his story. If you are a Medieval genre fan, do yourself a favor reading what Le Veque has to offer. I recommend her many novels both in writing style and plot.

When Andrew who is known as the Red Fury has come to help Josephine the feelings of animosity run strong but there is also a strange attraction too. When Josephine receives a letter from King Alexander Josephine dreads the worst until Andrew suggests something that can save her home and her family but King Alexander also has ideas of his own, can Andrew who is racing against time itself save Josephine from the King’s machinations? Ms. Le Veque has definitely done it again with this latest story. This is classic Le Veque having the flavor of her previous books and definitely keeps me on the edge of my seat in dread and anticipation. Ms. Le Veque just knows how to write a compelling fascinating story with equally wonderful characters that you instantly get pulled in from the very beginning of the story. Ms. Le Veque holds me spellbound in her world not letting up until the very end and wishing that the story would never end. Even the cover of the book captured exactly how I pictured the main male protagonist. Of course that is why I haven’t left her world and have continued to reread this story even as I write this review. What can I say about Andrew d’Vant except what an amazing honor hero swoon-worthy guy? For me I just couldn’t help but fall for him from the get-go he had the angsty troublesome sensitive sarcastic thing going for him really what’s not to like? In fact I thing he even comes close to one other of Ms. Le Veque’s other heroes that is my favorite that I even classify him as a book boyfriend. Josephine is no slouch either. A heroine that is not only a fighter because she can kick Andrew’s butt if needed but is witty, intelligent of course beautiful but humorous. Her passionate nature and sympathetic nature makes her beloved even by a King is not only astounding but inspiring. In fact all of Ms. Le Veque’s characters whether they be major or minor are so engaging that you want all of their stories. Thank you Ms. Le Veque for this magnificent story I will eagerly be awaiting your next one!

In a last ditch effort, an act of near desperation, Lady Josephine writes the Red Fury and offers to pay him to protect her lands. Andrew de Vant, aka the Red Fury, decides to come to Josephine’s aid-for a price, but it’s not just for coin. He has his own reasons, that come from his painful past. But when he arrives he and Josephine have an attraction that neither expected or can ignore. This story is filled with action and intrigue, danger and desire. There are twists and turns in the plot that keep the reader on the edge throughout the tale. This is a page turner from start to finish and it is gripping and descriptive in its narrative while filled with emotion between the two main characters. It also has a number of interesting and sometimes humorous additional characters who add a great deal to the story. This is really an epic saga and I highly recommend it to fans of historical romance, romance, action and adventure- just anyone who wants to read a wonderful adventure. LOVED it!

Josephine de Carron is a young woman with far too much responsibility on her shoulders. Since the death of her brother, the neighbouring clan have tried repeatedly to take control of her fortress. She needs a bigger armed force to help. A mercenary army seems the best option. Andrew d'Vant is the Red Fury. Possibly the most feared mercenary solider around. He travels with a huge army. He has worked hard to be the best, because he has a personal battle he must , one day be strong enough to fight. That worries our heroine, as she believes she knows who will be the sacrificial lamb. An epic medieval, romantic adventure. The characters will draw you into their lives, and the era they live in. This author gives us a really big book that has so much happening all the time. It needs all those pages to cover the things that our characters must face. We meet several secondary characters that I hope we will see again in future books. This author never disappoints me . I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one of hers that I have read. Ps. I have a sneaking suspicion that she has an issue with people in authority. Most of her heroes have to face down the most powerful in the land.

Usually I am not attracted to medieval period books because I prefer books that give the illusion that we are not the prey of unscrupulous business, leaders or military and that we have some protections as individuals and women because of our laws. I have enjoyed all of her books except “The Dark Lord”and “Devils Dominion” which were a little “too dark” for me, although I realize acts of atrocity were more prevalent in that time period. This book and the others are enjoyable for the growth or change in the characters, development of relationships, and the plots. I find myself trying to figure out how she is going to work out the problems for a satisfactory ending. She keeps the stories fresh and interesting, with twists I don’t anticipate. I enjoyed and recommend this book and her other books.

Or, as she puts it, the first in long hand and she went back to several years later and then finished. A 500+ page book is not a daunting thing to me, I welcome them. Wish there were more. I felt as though I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book. As always there are characters that disappoint, humor, amaze, make you want to swoon. I love that characters cross over from story to story. That you can follow their families through their generations. One of the most noteworthy aspects of this book was just how evil Kathryn made Alphonse out to be. He had to be the darkest character I've come across quite possibly ever! Larger than life.

I was addicted to this book!!! Kathryn Le Veque has the uncanny ability to draw you into her books to the point that you can feel the emotions of the characters, you can smell the towns, the castles, you can feel the fabric of the dresses as well as the chain mail worn by the Knights. You are immersed into another time! The characters in this book come alive in your mind as you read, as if they are your dearest friend. Andrew and Josephine were destined to be together. A love so great no one can keep them apart. Not his evil from Hell brother, not the King, no one. Even the secondary characters in this book made you fall in love with them! I loved everything about this book. I just want to slap a hundred little gold stars all over it! Kathryn Le Veque is a best-selling author for a reason. This book is another reason!!!

I absolutely loved this book! The dialogue between Andrew and Josephine is classic le Veque. I laughed, cried and became angry with them. Josephine is such a very strong female character-which the author writes so very well-and the hero meets his match. The struggle is a difficult one for Castle Torridon. His attitude and hers make for some really great and funny moments. The road to their happy ever after is complex, but well worth the journey with them. (I stayed up all night reading this one-didn't want to put it down once I began.)

Love Kathryn LeVeque books "A tale of good over evil, of wrongs that were righted, and of love everlasting." This quote from the book basically sums it all. Josephine and Justine, sisters, so very different but much alike, try to keep their fortress from crumbling after so many battles from the Dalmellington clan. Josephine hires The Red Fury (Andrew d'Vant) to help her knights to protect them. Along with Sully, her father's right hand man, they work to protect and restore their castle. Love everlasting. A must read.

Wow I loved this book! I have to say I loved the story from start to finish. I fell in love with the Andrew and Josephine’s characters from the beginning and I was hooked. This book made me laugh and then I would be in the edge and couldn’t put it down at the same time. I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. Wonderful story! Another great story from a great author. This was such a good addition to the story of the d'Vants. The Red Fury could have been a story in itself, even without throwing in the lovely Lady Josephine de Carron. I loved this book and am constantly amazed at how prolific this author is in her works. It is astounding to think none person could come up with so many different story plots! Wonderful story! Another great story from a great author. Oh my gosh!! Can it of gotten any better! Kathryn, it boggles my. Mind how you can create such beautifully written stories. Your characters become so real and it's like I'm right there in the story. I. Felt so anxious during the confrontation in the church and I cried hard when mother and son were reunited. I became very intrigued by Andrew's character while reading the Wolfe and I was not disappointed in The Red Fury. It had all the romance it promised and Andrew's character lived up to his legend. The supporting characters are interesting and intriguing in their own rights - one Ridge de Reyne in particular! This will be marked as a favorite for me! Passion and blood Revenge has been The Red Fury's motivation for nineteen years. The leader of a mercenary army, he travels to help a woman and her castle against her persistent enemy, little realizing that a woman will change his life and bring it's biggest challenge. An enthralling love story that kept me glued to the pages. Passion and blood Revenge has been The Red Fury's motivation for nineteen years. I loved the story, however when the summary mentioned others coming to D'Vant's aid, I have to admit that I was hoping that the aid would come from the Wolfe Pack. I always love when they are inserted into a story. This was a very entertaining story and as always. I want more from the family, maybe in the future there will be more from the d'Vant's. Another perfect book! I love Kathryn Le Veque, she is the best author you'll ever read and her earlier saga's are my fav. After reading The Wolfe I had hoped The Red Fury would get his own book and it was worth the wait. All her books are must reads! Another perfect book!
