HEROIC JUSTICE combines two unforgettable characters from previous books. First there is DI Lorne Warner from the Justice Series and DI Hero Nelson from the Hero Series. A man is slicing throats of people sitting in a theater watching horror movies. The voices are telling him to do this. Upon investigating they find that a third victim has been located in DI Nelson's patch. Throwing all their information together, they hope to stop him before anyone else is killed. Although you know early on the who .. but not the name ... you do hear from him.. and his voices. His motivation is quite clear and in order to silence what he hears in his head, he must kill. This is a very good police procedural with stand-out characters. Anyone who has read this author's previous books are quite familiar with these detectives. Lorne's husband, now a private investigator, plays a big part in hunting this killer. We also get a closer look at Hero's wife and children. I really enjoyed how they all interacted with each other. I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book by the author so I could give an honest review. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Even though this is the fifteenth book in the Justice series it works really well as a stand alone as the author gives enough background for readers that may not have read any of the others. I love how the author has brought together another great detective from her Hero series and teamed him up with the formidable Lorne. It was like getting a double helping of dessert having two much loved main characters in the same book. The story has a brilliant prologue that grabbed me straight away and had me hooked just as I have always come to expect from this author. She never lets me down. The killer in this is a particularly nasty one and needed taking off the streets as soon as possible. I had no doubt that with Hero and Lorne on the case that it wouldn’t be long before they find them. I have to say though that they really have their work cut out and have to go above and beyond in trying to work out just exactly the killer was. It certainly wasn’t a disappointment when all is revealed either. Heroic Justice is yet another thrilling addition to the already brilliant Justice series. Dark, chilling and hooked from start to finish, it is exactly how I like my crime reads served. Bravo! My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

This is - gulp - book 15 in the Justice series and, whilst I would heartily recommend starting from book one and reading in order, I recognise that, for some, that would be impractical. The main story within this book is self-contained but it does include quite a few spoilers from previous books - more so than in some of the rest of the series, so if you are thinking of reading the series, I would definitely recommend playing catch-up before reading this one. The main story within this book is self-contained but it does include quite a few spoilers from previous books - more so than in some of the rest of the series, so if you are thinking of reading the series, I would definitely recommend playing catch-up before reading this one. Believe me it will be worth the wait. This book also stars a Detective from one of this author's other series and I feel it's important to also note here that it mentions events that have occurred previously in that series too, most notably those from book 3 so, again, if you really want to read this in the right time/place, you need to read them too! Ok, boring bit over. This book combines two of my favourite Detectives from this author. DI Lorne Warner and DI Hero Nelson. Both are excellent characters in their own rights but when put together, boy do they combine well to kick the proverbial, and then some. And I'm not limiting that comment to just getting the baddies here, their individual wraths are rained down on colleagues and a whole host of others too as they endeavour to cut through the noise and red-tape to get to what they need to get the job done. And the job that needs doing in this book is the apprehension of a rather nasty individual. Someone is slitting throats in cinemas. But who and why? Initially targeting Lorne's patch, she and her team are floundering a bit to get any evidence worth anything and are still very much in the dark. That is however until they hear of a similar murder up in Manchester. Lorne, accompanied by husband Tony travel up-north to join forces with Nelson. It's up to them to pool their instinct, skill, experience and gut instincts to catch the killer before the body count rises further. Once again, this author has exceeded all my expectations. Just when I think she can't do any better than her last, amazing read, she ups the ante a notch and delivers something special once again. This time giving me double trouble in the form of two most excellent detectives along with their own teams. Two sidekicks, two pathologists, you get the gist. And it's a combination that works really well. We also have the usual supporting cast assisting too, most notably Charlie and Carol; Charlie delivering some exciting news of her own at the start of the book. Also mentioned is a long gone but still very dear friend, I love that the author keeps his memory alive. It goes without saying that the banter is also front and centre in this book and of the usual high quality. I just love the way that Lorne and Tony bicker and wind each other up. The inclusion of all this stuff really does help me as a reader with books that contain quite heavy crimes, such as those that this author is famous for, as it gives me a little light relief from all the evil flying around, making for a well balanced book overall. Honestly, I could go on for ages about what is good in this book, as I know I have done with others by this author but, you know what? Stop reading this review and download the book already! Or start playing catch-up with either series. Honestly, you won't regret it.

DI Lorne Warner and DI Hero Nelson join forces when a serial killer moves from Lorne’s London patch to Hero’s Manchester area meaning that these two police departments have to work together to catch their suspect. It was incredibly scary watching this vile killer at work as there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to how he chose his victims, it seemed totally random which terrified me! And as we hear for ourselves the thoughts running through his head before, during and after his vicious attacks, I found it even more distressing! This was a case where Lorne needed a true hero to help her solve it and her Manchester equivalent certainly pulled out all the stops to make Lorne feel welcome as the pair of them teamed up together to pool their resources. You really can’t go wrong with this series. And if you haven’t read the previous 14 then don’t worry as there are snippets of those last cases in Heroic Justice which means that this can be read perfectly well as a standalone, even though your interest will definitely be piqued by those hints to past cases. I loved those little recaps as it made me think about books gone by and how much Lorne has had to cope with over these last few years! Another great storyline from M.A Comley which I raced through in record time as always, desperate for my next Justice fix. Loved it!

Mel Comley's latest addition to her fantastic Justice series, Heroic Justice, is without a doubt one of her best to date. In Heroic Justice, Lorne finds herself up against a demented killer who chooses local cinemas as their hunting ground, each time, leaving behind chaos and a bloodied corpse but not one shred of evidence. With nothing linking the murder victims, Lorne and her team are left baffled, without a clue and wondering where to start their investigation. When similar crimes are reported up in Manchester, Lorne is sure the killer has changed cities and she decides to go to Manchester in their pursuit. There she meets DI Hero Nelson of the local police and together they plan out a strategy to put a stop to this killer's bloody trail before more murders are committed. But this will prove easier said than done. The killer is shrewd and able to change tactics in the blink of an eye. WOW! Another fast-paced action thriller that had me hooked from the terrifying prologue and kept me glued to my kindle till the end. I found myself biting my knuckles every time the killer advanced on yet another unsuspecting victim. I ended up devouring the whole book in a few hours. It was so exciting to have both these fabulous characters together on one mission. Lorne and Hero worked very well as a team, and if this was some kind of experiment, I'd like to tell the author that it was a success. I surely won't complain if the author ever decides to keep them together in a new series. This book can be read as a standalone and includes all ingredients to keep the reader entertained from start to finish... a fast-paced, brilliant plot, nail-biting suspense, engaging characters, realistic dialogue and twists and turns, together with a light sprinkle of romance and humour thrown in the mix from time to time for good measure. It is a fantastic, thrilling read and I highly recommend it.

Yet another fabulous installment in what is one of my favourite crime series of all times. Despite getting insights into the serial killer's mind, I had no idea how on earth Lorne was going to catch this one, or even work out who it was. Our two favourite investigators Lorne and Hero join forces for a joint investigation into a serial killer striking in both London and Manchester. A gruesome case but yet again, humour and real life is woven into the story when we get into the lives of the characters we’ve grown to love. Great read as always

I don’t usually like to compare books from a series but I do think that Heroic Justice is so far my favourite in the Justice series. In this book we see DI Lorne Warner team up with DI Hero Nelson from the Hero Series, and what a great team they made. This is a fast paced and action packed police procedural (my favourite kind of book) with fantastic characters. Heroic Justice is a must read and I would love to see this dynamic team work together again in future books.

In this book the crime crosses borders where both Lorne and Hero have to contend with the same criminal. This book gives you chance to see how different constabularies work together.  I loved the character interaction and I thought that the characters meshed well together. One thing this book brought out is about the mental struggles that people go through and that it was handled in a tactful manner.  It is great to see somone able to tastefully handle trauma from many different angles. This has made me even more of a fan of Hero Nelson as I really loved how he dealt with Lorne as well as his family life.  Things aren't easy for Hero but he always pulls through much the same as Lorne.

Heroic Justice features two of my favourite no nonsense detectives, Lorne whom is the detective inspector from in the justice series and DI Hero Nelson from the Hero series (another series which isn’t to be missed). Within the two separate series’s these two great detectives are known for being determined, outspoken and are both particular principles/ standards. Will the two strong minded detectives from different forces be able to work together and combine their skills in an attempt to track down a dangerous and brazen killer. It’s a race against time to stop the body count rising in both Manchester and London but with virtually no one evidence, where are they supposed to start and how can they prevent more brutal deaths? It’s a great on the edge of the seat read and a real page turner which I couldn’t put down. Although I was glad to finally learn the outcome I was gutted when I had finished it as I enjoyed reading it so much. I think the book contains just enough background information for the characters to be read on it’s own, saying that I think It will definitely be more enjoyable to readers whom have are at least up to date with the justice series if not the hero series too. The series is definitely worth a read and it’s a great journey to be a part of with the characters. I was hooked on ‘The Justice Series’ after reading the first book, now we are on book 15 and one thing I have to say is they are not samey or predictable in any way at all. The justice series is probably my favourite series, although it’s extremely difficult to decide out of them all because this author has a few series’s packed with suspense. However, i do have a lot of love for this series, as it is actually the justice series that introduced me to all of the other great books by M. A Comley/ Mel Comley and i’ve just been a huge fan ever since. Although each book is amazing in it’s own right, I must say this has to be one of my favourites for sure. I know I do tend to think that after reading the latest book but without me giving anything away this story means a lot to me as it is a subject that I feel needs to be out there.

Another Warner fan, whose family instantly hit it off with the Warners, of course. Would be nice to see DI Warner land on her backside once in a while, the character is beginning to annoy me, it seems that if you are a friend, relative or colleague of Lorne Warner you will be raped, kidnapped or badly injured with the occasional murder thrown in.Whilst I appreciate this is a work of fiction, it would be more realistic if she ended up in ICU on a case or two. Perhaps Tony should throw his prosthetic leg at her, after yet another crack about his culinary attempts. Or some of the rescues could have guarding issues or fear aggressive behaviour, in reality not all rescues are going to come rushing to he front of their cages, some will cower or growl - they are rescues, not super little doggies raised to the correct time for weaning and treated with total unconditional love and kindness by their human companions. A touch of reality, with a sprinkling of modesty would be welcome.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone; it can be read as a standalone but reading the series would give you all the background information, as well as totally entertaining you for a while! Five stars from purplebookstand!

This is the latest in the Justice series and, even though I haven't had chance to read all of the books in the series yet, in my opinion it's the best one so far. Bringing Hero & Lorne together to work as a team was a brilliant idea. This one sees Lorne faced with a serial killer who visits cinemas in London in the middle of the day and kills random people. Lorne is facing a brick wall with no leads to go on, so when the killer decides to leave town and continue his killing spree in Manchester, This is the latest in the Justice series and, even though I haven't had chance to read all of the books in the series yet, in my opinion it's the best one so far. Mel Comley's books are always an easy read and this one was no exception. I'd love to see more of the partnership between Lorne & Hero in the future.

M A Comley Heroic Justice This is book 15 in this series. The opening to the book is a reason I never go to the cinema. In true MelComley style this book has plenty twists and turns to keep you guessing. Lorne works as hard as ever between her police work and the kennels that her daughter and husband run. Her and husband travel to meet with Hero Nelson as this case is going to take all their gyle and experience to solve. 5*+ 12 November 2017.

What a fantastic book! To have Lorne and Hero working together on a case is brilliant but add to that a great story with such great character detail, it couldn't fail to be a stunning book. Never known an author able to scare you to death with such a vile villain but then be able to turn your thoughts around until you feel almost sorry for them. A truly great read.
