Gruesome! The plot of this story wasn't what I expected, but it was still a good story. I didn't think it was as good as some of his other stories though. Gruesome! What could have been an interesting book turned into a crappy SyFy channel B movie, complete with bad acting and a worse story. First off, the author needs to fire his editor. Even characters who are related. No normal person talks like that. A lot of the dialogue seems like a bad movie script. One character keeps using the word mothafucker. Either shorten both parts of the word or don't. It just doesn't sound natural. The author also spent wayyyyyy too much time filling in the backstories of secondary characters. I don't need multiple pages describing the life of Farmer Brown who is about the get eaten. Maybe a paragraph or two. The first book in the series introduced all the main characters. However the first book never even hinted that one character was the head of a secret organization. Bick shows up in Corstine's office and then BAM there's a secret group that his own father was a part of and Corstine has known about him for years. Even though they had plenty of time to discuss this in the first book, it was never covered. It just seems super forced and sudden, almost like the first book was supposed to be a stand alone, and then the author decided to make a series out of it later. The team that Corstine outs together to track down the mini saber tooth tiger (let's face it, that's exactly what it is), is one of the least efficient and trained team in the history of team ups. Each character has an encyclopedic memory of random information that pops up at the most convenient time. There are multiple times where a team member freezes. Stop it. That's how people die in the real world. They constantly trip over each other. And they are the world's worst shot. It seems like ever single shot they take with a dart gun misses, except when the author needed the scene to be over. I really tried to enjoy this book. The first in the series had it's fair share of problems, but I was hoping this book would be better. It wasn't. I struggled to get past the errors and clumsy dialogue. I almost stopped reading it several times, but powered through. However, after finally finishing it, I'm done with the series. I can't give the 3rd book a chance. I'm sure the author did his best with this book, but unfortunately I just didn't like it.

The idea is great This is not my first time reading a book by Michael Esola so I speak from past experience with the author. This time the book was disjointed to me. There seemed to be to many little side events going on not that is a bad thing, but when a character in one chapter gets an injury and a couple of chapters later their injury has miraculous been cured then you start to lose me, because sprained or twisted ankles don't just heal in a few minutes. Also these people seem to fall down a lot and don't get me started on going unconscious and then ta-da they regain consciousness in seconds. At time I felt that Mr. Wells was getting paid by the word like the writers of pulp fiction were paid. Now that I have that off my chest what did I like about the book. Well first of all I liked the plot of someone screwing with mother nature and creating a hybrid animal that gets out of control. You know what they say it isn't nice to mess with mother nature. Then there is the team out to catch this hybrid and keep it out of sight from humans. They are a good team of hunters, but they need to be fleshed out a bit more. Although I had some problems with the book, I still enjoyed reading it.

Great read Now let’s have a story about humanoids similar to the wood apes interbreeding with humans. Would the interbred be smarter more cunning than a human and have a taste for blood?

Interesting and intriguing. The book was fun and enjoyable. It brings to the fore the idea of the many species that are still undiscovered. It also kept my attention. The only thing I think could have been better thought out was how to keep the evidence of the hiding of these creatures secret, to meld more with reality. Now a days it is very easy to discover such things as the world we live in gets smaller and smaller.

A well balanced thriller Book 2 is a giant step forward for this author. The plot is tighter, the action more sequential, and the characters more fully developed. Now, let's reduce the number of characters in future book's and emphasize the plot more. A well balanced thriller Book 2 is a giant step forward for this author. Cool cats It took me longer than usual to finish this book.. i was really upset about the rancher. I don't want to spoil. I kept rooting for Lon to get his butt kicked. Anyway there was lots of action and a surprise in the middle. Cool cats It took me longer than usual to finish this book.. i was really upset about the rancher. I don't want to spoil. Action packed Bick is back! The survivors from Indonesia are back in this action packed book. They are now the hunters and what they are hunting is just as dangerous as what the escaped. Great characters and a compelling story.

Lots of action & Suspense. I like the characters. The story is interesting. Was pleased with the way one of the guys died..Served him right. I wanted to do him in. Most of the bad guys got what they deserved. I'd hate to run into this strange-looking creature. Was hard to picture. Lots of action & Suspense. I like the characters. The story is interesting.
