I read this book in 2 days. And, whew, chile, a lot of this was talking directly to me. My soror did a wonderful job with this book. She endured a journey of a "not so perfect childhood", losing her closest friend unexpectedly, a breakup, and suicidal thoughts. I must say that Ms. Carter is a soldier. When she could've given up and threw in the towel, instead, God throw the towel back and said, "this battle is your and you will win". Ms. Carter could've had the mentality, "why me?, instead, God I read this book in 2 days. And, whew, chile, a lot of this was talking directly to me. My soror did a wonderful job with this book. Ms. Carter could've had the mentality, "why me?, instead, God asked, 'why not you?"She encourages her readers to endure the pain, however, to not sulk in it. Instead PUSH (pray until something happens). The pain and challenges are necessary for our growth. The darkness is the prerequisite to the light. I encourage anyone who has gone through any kind of loss or other struggle to read this book. The pain is necessary for our growth. Once we achieve our success, and are glowing in our peace and happiness, will we finally realize that the breakups, loss of friendships, rejections, "we've selected another candidate" is worth it. Great job, Ms. Carter!
