My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I didn’t not think the next book in this series would be the Master Shark’s story, but it was awesome. This book crosses over into Shifting Sands too!! Magnolia, Breck, and Tex are all part of this book too! It was an unexpected and very welcome surprise since I love both series! Finn and Martha are just awesome together! I love Martha’s devotion to her family and that she speaks her mind, and she defends others even if she isn’t sure what to make of them. Finn has always served others, and he has always hidden part of himself away because it would scare others. He has never had anyone put his needs first or been shown what true happiness is. He is awkward and sexy all at the same time. I loved their story, and how two series are now tied together! Zoe always manages to surprise me! Her stories are always awesome! I haven’t read a story yet that I didn’t truly enjoy! I can’t wait to see what she cooks up next! I highly recommend to shifter fans everywhere who love HEA endings especially if you already love this series, Shifting Sands, and Zoe Chant!

Fantastic! I love this series and I am so glad Chant found a character worthy of a book in this series, so we could stretch it out for one more. I will be so sad when there is no more to come. Master Shark, or Finn as we find out is his name, is forced to go on a vacation. While there, he discovers his mate. First up, I loved both of these characters. Finn was sweet, heroic and devoted. While he seemed perfect, he didn't seem out-of-touch or unrealistic (as much as a person turning into a huge shark can feel realistic, that is). But Martha might have stolen the show for me. She was a grandmother who was devoted to her family, funny as hell, sweet, smart, kind and loyal. She was resistant to being with Finn at first, because she thought she has already lived that part of her life and was too old, but Finn was persistent and soon she couldn't resist the giant man. This is a must read for fans of this series and another excellent addition. I will definitely be rereading every book in this series, and absolutely recommend to fans of shifter romance. It can standalone, although every book has been a five star read for me, so I think you should start from the beginning.

Totally not what I expected! What a great book. I love shifter stories but I've pretty much only read about wolves, dragons, and bears. I need to broaden my reading material. An impulse buy. The blurb sounded hilarious and the book had me snort-laughing. It's hard to imagine two creatures more different than a shark and a coyote, but the author makes it work. Crossover!! I loved going back to Shifting Sands for this one; the setting was perfect, and really the only possible option for these two shifters to meet. Zoe can do no wrong.

(Imagine the fantastic deep underwater setting in the 2018 movie The Meg - ❤️ as Atlantis and Finn’s home). I began reading the Fire and Rescue series because I was drawn to the idea of uniquely different mythical Shifters (Griffins, Unicorn, Shark, Phoenix, Sea Dragon, Pegasus). The descriptions of the settings and the characters in each book have been creative and imaginative. I like that these characters are more than basic dragons or bears, although I have favorites in such series, as well. Readers who prefer light rather than dark paranormal novels, quick reading angst-free stories, a touch of humor & fantasy in their books, Seasoned Romances (mature characters), the Opposites Attract trope and HEAs may wish to check-out The Shark’s Mate and this entire series. I again loved the references and mention of the underwater world, Atlantis, in The Master Shark’s Mate - such fun! The Master Shark’s Mate, #5 can be read as a standalone title but the characters from the earlier books do make crossover appearances. For the most enjoyment I recommend reading the previous books in the Fire and Rescue Shifter series (particularly the previous story, Sea Dragon/#5) which are similar in fun and mythical creativity - Dragon/#1, Pegasus/#2, Griffin/#3, Sea Dragon/#4, Master Shark/#5, next in the series Unicorn/#6, and Phoenix/#7. Be careful not to confuse this series/Firefighter Fire & Rescue with another Zoe Chant series - the Wildfire: Fire & Rescue series. Should you decide, shop carefully it can be confusing (my only complaint). ;) There is on-scene sexual intimacy between the 2 main characters that falls somewhere between sweet and steamy (2 of 5, on 0-5 Very Clean - Very Steamy scale, IMO). The intimacy is just one aspect of their growing committed relationship. It’s not casual sex and not the main emphasis of the story. Strong profanity is used rarely, I believe less than 5 times. There is no violence. Due to the aforementioned, this series is not suitable for young readers IMO and readers who prefer entirely Clean material may chose to look elsewhere.

The Master Shark’s Mate gave me all of that and so much more. I cannot remember the last time I chuckled out loud, laughed until tears rolled down my face. It’s a priceless story told with just the right amount of humor, sensuality and emotions. Martha is such an alpha, she’s kick butt take names and a meddling mother, grandmother as well. She’s on a forced vacation and has no time nor inclination for romance… she’s too busy calling the kids back home and micromanaging her pack from the beach. The Master Shark would do anything for his Empress, anything. But this is just too much for any self-respecting shark shifter to bear. Relaxing. Why would someone want to relax when there was so much to do in a day. Yet he’s been sent to this beach resort to “relax” and enjoy himself. Well, he won’t defy his Empress, but he’s not about to relax on land that’s for sure. Then the unthinkable happened. Martha and the Master Shark meet… and discover they are true mates. What the heck?! Now they’re too busy denying facts to worry about relaxing. And maybe, just maybe they’ll find that a land shifter and an ocean shifter can find common ground together. I absolutely loved Martha and the Master Shark’s story. And yes, he does have a given name after all, but I’m not going to give that gem away. I’ve run into unlikely, almost impossible shifter pairings before… but this one is so priceless. With this story Zoe Chant has crossed two of her series, Fire & Rescue Shifters and Shifting Sands Resort. Both are fun, sexy, dangerous and addicting… put them together and you have precious gold. I loved running into characters I know outside of their usual story lines. I will caution though that although the Master Shark is not a member of the firefighters team he did play a huge part in the previous story Firefighter Sea Dragon, so if you haven’t read the entire series yet, I”d strongly suggest at least reading that one story first for there is definitely a back story involved in The Master Shark’s Mate. I think by now that you get the idea that I strongly recommend this story and the entire series (both of them) for any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

An ancient prehistoric shark form, 80ft long, the Master Shark, is sent on vacation by his Empress & her Consort to Shifting Sands, a shifter only resort. An Alpha Coyote grandma is sent on vacation by her pack, and can't refuse her present, cause even the kids chipped in their pocket money. It was a lovely romance with older shifters which made a nice change. 4.5 stars. I am really enjoying this series but I am getting impatient to read Commander Ash’s story and we still have Hugh to go. Although this story doesn’t have the shifters from Fire & Rescue, it does have John and the Empress Neridia. We met the Master Shark in the previous Fire and Rescue book 4 but he isn't part of that crew. We have Martha who is a coyote alpha, a lovely more mature heroine which I loved. The fact Martha is a coyote that loves the desert and fate has paired her with the Master Shark, Finn, I found cute. I was interested to see how the author would sort this problem out but Ms Chant has done so in a believable and interesting way. Martha's pack have saved to send her on vacation to the Shifting sands resort as a special treat. Having been happily married to a human for 30 years and widowed for ten, finding her mate comes as a hell of a shock. Believing it is wrong to be happy again, Martha tries to keep away from Finn. Finn’s character is aloof, broody and all alpha but it hides who he really is and I loved that Martha bought that softer side out in him. The Master Shark has been sent by the Empress, against his wishes, on vacation to the Shifting Sands resort. Seeing Martha and realising she is his mate is also a shock but one he is happy to explore. Except he thinks Martha is running from him because of who he is. Martha has no idea who he is which I thought was great. Martha was going to give up her mate and living in Atlantis as the pack needed her. After getting smacked around by John for sulking instead of going after his mate, Finn arrives in Arizona to help fix the problem that had Martha running home. I found this to be a truly heart-warming read as these two different souls find happiness and a good compromise for being together, with a little help from the Empress. Loved the teaser for book 6.

Beautiful Hunt!!! Finn, The Master Shark, Second-in-command, Voice of the Empress had been protecting the underwater city of Atlantis for decades. He was feared and misunderstood. Martha Hernandez, a coyote shifter didn't want to take a vacation. What if her children and grandchildren needed her help staying out of whatever mischiefs they would cause. Well her daughter made sure she understood never to call home again until her vacation was over. Finn found more than a relaxing spot at the resort, he found his one true mate even though she kept running away from him. What she didn't know was that he loved the thrill of the hunt. Martha couldn't deny what she felt for Finn any longer. They both gave into their feelings. But when it came to their living situation they found themselves in a dilemma, one that nearly ripped them up in pieces. In the end all worked out and their lived happily ever after. With some wonderful surprises from their loved ones, Finn and Martha got a lot to look forward to. THE MASTER SHARK'S MATE is the fifth book in Zoe Chant's FIRE & RESCUE SHIFTERS series. It was humorous, engrossing and fascinating. ****I received a free copy from the author, without any obligation to review.****

I feel she captured the shark's characteristics in his human form perfectly. I loved him and thought he was totally swoon worthy, such a perfect mixture of alpha male that you would expect from a fierce shark but with a shyness and fear of rejections just like everyone else. He really was great and I could gush all day about him. Martha was fabulous, and is the alpha of the Ochre Pack of coyotes. I loved that she honestly tried to sacrifice her family and being on land for her mate. I was concerned that it would all just be one way but this author handled the living arrangements perfectly. I was so so happy with how it worked out in the end so that they could enjoy their HEA. This one was written so beautifully and was so heart-warming that I think is one will remain a favourite for sure. Overall one I couldn't put down and enjoyed very much. I feel you could read this one without having read the others in the series BUT I think for maximum enjoyment definitely pick up the other books first!

As for the Fire & Rescue Shifters, while the books in the series can all be read as standalones, there is background laid in previous stories, in this case, particularly in Firefighter Sea Dragon, so in order to get the richest experience, consider reading that before diving in here. These books just keep getting better and better! I admit I was surprised when I saw the next book in the Firefighter series was going to feature the Master Shark, but intrigued as well. And talk about an opposites attract story! You don’t get much more opposite than the former King of sharks finding his true mate in a coyote shifter, matriarch and alpha of a desert based pack. I loved that these were more mature characters, and it’s also a second chances story of a sort, as the two have a chance at starting a new life with each other—if they can manage to find a way to make their conflicting responsibilities work. Sweet and touching, there may be a little less action to this story, but still great characters with plenty of humor and heat. One of my favorites of the series. 5+ stars

I think this book is my favorite of the series, so far. (view spoiler)[The Shark Master has been doing a good job as Neridia's second in command, but she thinks he needs a vacation, and he is forced to go. Once he arrives at the resort, he finds Martha and realizes she is his mate, and starts trying to win her, only as a shark, that includes a lot of stalking. Martha knows he is her mate, but since she already had one mate, she feels she is betraying him, even if he is dead, if she considers being with Finn. They spend the first half of the book going around each other, and once Martha realize that there is nothing wrong about thinking about herself, they spend another part trying to see who is going to sacrifice his/her life for the other. Martha feels like Finn has more responsibilities than her and that she should leave her family for him, but then one of her sons disappears and she is forced to go back, and leave Finn. Neridia sends Finn away, and frees him to follow his heart, and he arrives to help Martha find her son, stop the war with the other shifter group, and claim her. They finally get together, and show that even if they come from different worlds, they can be happy together. (hide spoiler)]

This was different. Just all around different. The Master Shark isn't actually part of the firefighter crew, but is linked to John, so there's less of any of them. The setting is neat and we meet a couple background characters that were fun. Martha is a take no bull older woman with so much vitality. The Master Shark is a man so used to solitude he feels he has nothing to offer, but strives to win her heart anyway. They are surprisingly sweet together and while yes the love scenes are steamy, the dancing scenes are almost steamier. Their ending is a tad bittersweet, but mostly just happy and fun. The Master Shark's Mate is a story about love and family. It's sweet and saucy and all around a great read.

The Master Shark has been sent to an all shifter beach resort by his Empress for a week-long vacation. Imagine his surprise when he meets his one true mate his first day there. Coyote shifter and widow, Martha Hernandez, is also on a "forced" vacation. When she sees the large, quiet man she realizes he's her mate and runs off. She was married 30 years and is the alpha of her family so she has no time for romance. However, the Master Shark is on the hunt and the draw between them is strong. When the resort employees get involved all seems to be going well. Now the only thing to decide is where they're going to live ~ Atlantis or Arizona. This was a great story with great interaction between the characters. I highly recommend it but do suggest you read the series in order even though this was written as a stand-alone.

This is the fifth book in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series. The story ties in both the Fire and Rescue series and the Shifting Sands series. It is one very different story and I love it. It made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes. It is a wonderful read. This is Finn ( Master Shark) and Martha Hernandez's story. It is a story of challenge, faith, love and a willingness to change. How can this possibly work when one is attached to the dessert and the other the Ocean? This is definitely a 5 star story. Martha’s family has sent her on a long needed vacation and she is having a hard time enjoying it, especially when her “true-mate” shows up. His Empress sent Master Shark on a vacation. He does not want a vacation but it is ordered. He didn’t expect to find his “true-mate” and she keeps running from him. When he finds out that, she is a matriarch of a vast and powerful clan he doesn’t know if he deserves her. Ok I am glad we finally find out what his name is. I mean we can’t keep calling him Mast Martha’s family has sent her on a long needed vacation and she is having a hard time enjoying it, especially when her “true-mate” shows up. It is heart breaking. They do finally come together but then they are ripped apart. Responsibility for both groups are hard to choose.

Awesome! Never to late, or to Old.💕 "The Master Shark's Mate" was awesome mainly for no other reason than the fact that the main characters were so much more mature age wise, I mean, really! how many book's out there, that have a main character that's a widowed grandmother? and finding their one true mate after 30 year's of marriage. No, I'm not a grandma, but my grandpa had a love, that transcended time and showed me that your never to old to get your groove on. Well done Zoe Chant, loved this story. Highly recommended.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Master Shark was assigned a very difficult mission: 1 week vacation on a beach He did not understand why he was being punished. Martha was giving a vacation by her kids. But being in family business is a habit hard to change. When they see each other, they knew they were mates. Their reaction to each other was hilarious. I was so glad that Master Shark, Hugh, found his HEA. Loved the storytelling!

I honestly never thought I would have warm and cuddly feelings for a shark, but man does this story pull it out of you. I love Finn, I absolutely want to cuddle the heck out of him, my heart broke in places in this story but not once did I blame either of the characters for it, the situation was completely to blame which is a breath of fresh air, it meant that I could be angry at the situation and anxious to find out what the solution would be, without loosing my liking for both Finn and Martha. Ok I must admit that I was a little disappointed about this book until I got to the end and realized that this is a cross over book. All the other books in this series had a damsel in distress but this one did not. However it was still a great book overall and did introduce us to people from a different series. I will add this to my read again list and continue to get the rest of the series.

Shifter combinations that match real life decisions. Fantastic reading. The author tells you about other book characters in a series so you can read them in order if you don't want spoilers. The story is a HEA standalone. The desert predator meets the deep sea predator. Family and living situation are just a few challenges. Love is not just for the young. Life still goes on after the kids are grown. Enjoyed the book enormously. Can't wait to read the other stories. Shifter combinations that match real life decisions. Fantastic reading. Surprises Never Cease I was not convinced this book would match the quality of the other books in this series. A love story of a great, taciturn, stoic shark shifter? But it's beautiful, bittersweet and unexpected, It brings together two kindred souls who seem, and are, worlds apart and yet perfect together. Master Shark shifter and an alpha coyote grandma shifter are funny, touching and terrific together. Delightful story and book.
