Ok I’ll translate that from Aussie into American. Ute = Truck Pub = Pub.. I’m pretty sure you have them, but always seem to order something in a glass. (Unless it’s a posh pub we just drink out of a glass! lol ) Supermarket = Grocery store. Chemist = Drugstore. Nothing shits me more than when I’m reading a book set in Australia and they get in their "trucks" and drive to the "drug store". Because to me I imagine this. + I have no problem with it, if I'm reading an American book. But yes we do seem to have our own language down here and it's nice to see people use it! So for that alone Aleya, I love you! Ok as per the book. I liked it, I really did. Did I love it though? No. I will explain why. Roxy is a bit umm. Promiscuous. *cough* slutty *cough* Yeah we’ll go with that. So one night while out in Sydney she meets Kade and asks him back to her place, he does the one thing she wasn’t expecting. He turns her down and asks her for a date instead. What follows in a beautifully written romance. Kade is a white knight, gentlemen, old school, younger and a sexy shy surfer/tradie. He’s on the inexperienced side of life but he knows he wants Roxy, and his Surfing. He’s in training to become a pro surfer. Roxy, is a wildcat, loves sex, partying, her BFF and loves her job, she just doesn’t trust guys. However she slowly lets her walls down around Kade. And when she does it’s the beginning of a beautiful relationship. You can feel the chemistry between these two. Even Kade’s awkwardness/shyness comes out and you can’t help awwwwwing at him sometimes, while smiling so big cos you’re happy for him However Kade’s rising fame in the surfing world and Roxy’s past come back and bite them in the ass. Then something else happens and it changes EVERYTHING I will say right now that it is NOT cheating, I know how some people are about that. So in keeping with the theme these days, yes sadly this book does have a cliff hanger. My kindle decided it wasn’t going to tell me the percentage that I was up too so it snuck up on me too! Grr. So yes I will def be reading the next as I need to know more about these two crazy in love kids. It’s written in Roxy’s POV majority of the time, Kade does have a few chapters here and there and I felt it really added to the story to know what he was thinking. So what was the part I didn’t like? Sometimes it was so goddamn cutesy, and sickly sweet… You know how usually you get to a part of the book and it’s time for the epic confession of love that will leave you swooning? Well we get those… we get those a lot… And then there is not a lot that happens for a little while. Then another Epic love confession. Then not a lot. Then some sex. Then more confession then we are back in the story. I completely understand that stories need fillers to get from those parts from a-b. In my opinion there was just a bit of “dead air” hanging out, in the middle of the book, on the way to point B. But as I said other than that can’t really fault it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and want the next one now please.

Come on...sexy surfer meets emotionally shut down, outgoing, sexuallly promiscuous girl with walls up the size of the Grand Canyon that he has to pull down in order to win her heart. And this book is set in Australia, yes please!!! I was so excited to start reading this book and discover the story of Roxy and Kade. We first meet Roxy, a 24 year old graphic designer who lives to spend her life partying, usually under the influence of alcohol and drugs, with her best friend and roommate Gemma. Roxy has been hurt in the past and has come to the conclusion that men only seem to like her when she puts out, so her life becomes one big party, followed by random meaningless one night stands with many different men. Roxy uses these encounters to make herself feel less alone in the world but these feelings of belonging never last long and onto the next encounter she goes. One night while out on one of her many drug and alcohol fueled nights, Roxy meets Kade. He is the shy, blushing boy at the end of the bar who has caught her eye for something new to try, the quiet one. Roxy makes her way over to Kade and instantly starts flirting and letting him know what she wants, and is dumbfounded when he offers to buy her a drink and just talk. The conversation is short but Roxy is again surprised when Kade again turns down the offer to go home with her, and instead asks if he can get her number and take her out sometime. Information is exchanged and both leave the bar alone, Roxy all the while thinking she is not going to hear from him again. Of course Kade does call and so begins the romance of Roxy and Kade. Now after reading the description for this book I had very high hopes and expectations. I don’t want to say that I was disappointed with what I read, but I was expecting so much more. I often thought as I was reading how much potential these chapters and this story had as a whole. There seemed to be a lot of repetition in the earlier chapters, with conversations and situations being narrated through Roxy's eyes then immediately after through Kades. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good alternate character POV as it usually helps to enhance the story, but I just found that it happened so often in this book that it lost its appeal to me. I felt that I was reading the same thing over and over. The conversations were incredibly detailed so I found myself at times tuning out or skimming through them just to try to see what the point was going to be, and this made if very hard at times to stay connected to the story. If you are a fan of mushy, constant “ I love you”, “you mean the world to me” conversations then this book is for you. The first half of this book was very lovey dovey and mushy with the characters telling each other every other sentence how much they meant to the other person. It felt a little over the top to me and I found myself getting very annoyed with the constant use of “baby” at the end of every sentence and thought. I am all for a book that has characters showing their emotions but after awhile I found myself actually wanting to see a fight or some sort of argument to make these characters seem like they were in a real relationship. The first few fights in the book I found myself thinking YES, finally a conversation that does not involve sunshine and rainbows. The fight lasted 2 sentences and was ended abruptly with….. sunshine and rainbows. There are plenty of steamy scenes in this story for those of us that like that sort of thing, who am I kidding, who doesn’t love that sort of thing. These were incredibly well written and damn were they HOT!! I love a good hot and steamy scene ;) The second half of this book is totally different from the beginning. What started as all mushy and loving, became angry and hostile. I felt at times that I was reading two different stories with different characters. In the beginning, I wanted more drama but in the end I wanted the sunshine back, just a little bit at least. The characters were very well written and I can tell that Aleya has definitely done her research. Her descriptions of Kade’s surfing as well as Roxy’s graphic design plus many other facets of this story are so detailed and intricate you can picture it in your head. This wasn’t my favorite book but definitely a good starting point for this series. Yes this book does leave you with the anger inducing cliffhanger that we have all come to loathe, but lately expect as every book seems to have one. This story is no different and you will have to come back to see how the story of Roxy and Kade plays out. XOXO Charlee deliciouslywickedbooks.com

Enter Kade, young, innocent, a construction sites manager, and aspiring pro surfer, meeting him in a club, she notices his interest and invites him home, when he does the unthinkable, says no and instead asks her out on a date. It suddenly occurs to Roxy maybe not every guy is after a quick lay, maybe she can attract a good guy, maybe Kade can finally be the one not to break her heart. What I loved about Aleya Michelle's debut was it's realism, the characters believable, the situations they find themselves in realistic, their friends & family honest and true. I'm invested in their stories, in their lives, and I need to know what happens next. Thank you Aleya for taking me into Roxy & Kade's world.

When I was given the opportunity to review this book, I thought that it was a standalone. I had no idea that this was actually book #1, and I was not expecting the book to have a huge cliffhanger. I can honestly tell you though that by the time that I had reached the end I was more than ready for this one to be done. I can honestly say that if I had known that we wouldn't be given an ending in this book, I would have DNF'd with this one. Unfortunately this wasn't at all what I had been expecting, and I was disappointed with this story. Roxy is a 24 year old graphic designer. She is used to partying with her best friend Jemma and uses drugs to help escape her past. She has been hurt and betrayed before, and always expects the worst when it comes to men. When she first meets Kade she thinks that he is just like all the others, but decides to give him a shot. After making a few mistakes though, Roxy begins to realize that Kade is different from other guys out there. He is 23, he treats her well, and he is determined to be successful. Not only does he have a regular job, but he is also working on becoming a pro-surfer and spends a lot of his time training. But with so much demand on his time and with differences of opinion, Kade and Roxy's new relationship begins to hit some rough patches. Can they figure out a way to make a relationship work, and can Roxy get over her past and truly let Kade in? I really liked Kade at the beginning of this story, and I honestly couldn't figure out what he saw in Roxy. The way that she treated him at the beginning was horrible, and frankly she acted like a total psycho. I didn't understand why he kept giving her chance after chance when he didn't even know her. But as the story progressed, I started to really dislike Kade. He had a total personality shift and I have no idea what happened to him. He started acting completely different and turned into a real jerk. He wasn't honest with Roxy and he started lashing out at her, and it just didn't make sense. Roxy was hard to like at first. She was used to sleeping around and not letting anyone close, and she used her past as an excuse to lose herself in drugs. She also treated Kade horribly at first and judged him pretty harshly without even really knowing him. She made a lot of assumptions and should have just talked to him before jumping to conclusions. But once she opened up to Kade and really gave him a chance, she started to really grow and change for the better. She realized that drugs were not good for her and that she needed to make a change. She cleaned up her life and started to see what a future could be like with a man that she loved. I will admit that Kade and Roxy did have chemistry, and at times they really did seem to work well as a couple together. But I also thought that a good portion of the time, they were both on completely different pages and seemed to not really take the other into consideration. Besides the fact that the characters drove me nuts at times and the fact that they were extremely inconsistent, I also was really upset that it wasn't made known that this book was part of a series. I didn't have a clue until after I had already started reading this one and looked closely at the cover to see that it said book one. I also felt like this story had times that it was really confusing and would seem to jump around a bit, and I would be scrambling trying to figure out where we were and how we got there. The dialogue had a tendency to be repetitive, and frankly it was pretty ridiculous at times. I felt like this one was just really cheesy and there were so many times that I rolled my eyes over something that Kade or Roxy said. Especially some of the things that Kade said, because honestly I have never met a guy who would say some of the things he said. It just didn't ring true to his character, and was just too unrealistic. I also found it confusing that for the most part this was told from Roxy's POV, but that it would randomly switch over to Kade's POV for a chapter here and there. It was just really disorienting the way that it was done, and honestly when we got Kade's POV it usually just irritated me and made me dislike his character more. He seemed to turn into this complete douche when we got a look inside his thoughts. Overall, this book just wasn't for me. It wasn't what I was expecting, and honestly the only reason I finished was to see what happened. If I had known that it didn't end at the ending, I would have put this one down and quit. I think that this story could potentially be a good one, but I think that it needs quite a bit of work first. This one is written by an Australian author, and the terms of this book are definitely true to what they would say. It wasn't hard to figure out what the author was talking about, but I think that for the most part there are several words in this story that most people will not be familiar with. If you are looking for a trilogy that is about young and immature characters fumbling their way through first love while growing up and developing a relationship for the first time, you might give this one a shot. **Review Copy Provided by Between the Sheets Promotions**

Roxy enjoys sex and is rather promiscuous. She's been hurt in the past and therefore doesn't allow herself to become emotionally involved. Whilst out with Jemma, Roxy spots a good looking make sat by himself and she decides that he will be her bit of 'fun' for the evening, cue Kade! She heads over and invites him back to her place but he refuses. He does however say that he wants to see her again. Phone numbers are given out and Roxy heads back to fond Jemma. Kade is a construction site manager. He loves surfing and hopes that one day he can go pro. Between work and surfing Kade hasn't had many females in his life. But there's something about Roxy he likes. Will they get a chance together? Will the past cause too many problems? Can Roxy finally get over her hurt? Will she be brave enough to risk being hurt again? I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Roxy and Kade, I'm looking forward to book #2 in this series. Roxy has emotionally locked down, she's built walls around her heart in order to protect it. She has a hard time trusting men and she thinks that they are only after one thing; sex. She enjoys sex and when she sees a man she wants she isn't afraid to go after him. Usually this pays off, until the night Roxy meets Kade. When Kade turns her down, Roxy is shocked both by the fact that he says no and then that he wants to see her again. Kade; could he be Roxy's knight in shining armour? Kade seems to spend a lot of time forgiving Roxy at the start, especially as she is hell bent on trying to push him away. Kade shows that he has a jealous angry streak in him too, which causes more problems for the couple. But a relationship is new territory for both of them and there's bound to be teething problems, right? Kade's anger spills out when his mother leaves his father, this devastates Kade and his family. Which in turn makes him question of he can be what Roxy truly deserves. Can he? Hmm... You better get reading! The characters are great, very realistic and easy to relate to. They both have their own issues and have always had their own way of dealing with the things life has thrown at them. Kade and Roxy both grow into stronger characters. They appear to learn from their experiences and they change and adapt to each situation . The conversations and situations are realistic and believable too. I did find that on occasion the swapping from one POV to the other could be a little repetitive, I know it may have been to give both characters thought and feelings, but I still felt as though it could be have been done slightly differently. My only other minor bug bear is that some parts were a little too sickly sweet for my liking; but I know that some people are like that in real life too. I've seen them! Other than those two small points, I really have enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read book #2. I think this is a book about trying to overcome fears and personal demons, but also learning to trust and believing that some risks are worth taking. Breaking My Heart made me laugh, cringe, giggle and cry. It's a great debut novel by Aleya. The cliffhanger ending definitely has me hanging and NEEDING book #2. I'm itching to get my hands on it, because I have been pulled into Roxy and Kade's lives. I NEED to know what will happen next. A great first novel with humour, romance and some seriously up close and personal steaminess! A page turner that has left me wanting, no Needing more!!! Great work Aleya! I can't wait to read book #2!!

Watching her mother be treated badly by all the men that came after, she’s convinced all men are awful, especially when she looks for love in all the wrong places only to get used and thrown away. Until Kade. She spots Kade across a crowded club. By his entranced stare, shy looks and blushing cheeks, she knows Kade is unlike any other man she has ever met. Her past experiences with men have taught her to build her walls up high, and initially she treats him like crap. Quickly coming to her senses, she manages to convince him to give her a final chance and she uses it wisely. The pair end up in a year-long relationship, before troubles in Kade’s personal life affect their relationship for the worst. Going by the title, I think it’s safe to say you can predict how book 1 is going to end. And given that this is a trilogy, I’m sure there will be plenty of both love and drama until we get to what I hope will be the HEA by the end of book 3. I’m already 50% through book 2 and I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those books I won’t like too much, but I have to endure in order to get to the wonderful finale that will be book 3. At times I found Kade and Roxy’s relationship a little childish even though I get that they’re both sorta young. They would get really angry over something (be it for a valid reason or a petty one), have a fight and suddenly they would just make up, forget about it and have some hot make-up sex. And while they are both so in love, their insecurities are a constant problem: Kade has issues with all the men Roxy has slept with in the past; and Roxy is constantly worried that Kade will leave her. They constantly call each other ‘baby’. And finally, Kade makes it quite clear to Roxy that he doesn’t want kids for a long time and is very cruel to her about it when they’re discussing it. Yet he has no problem never wearing a condom with her, as long as she does her duty and remember to take her pill. Responsibility is a two way street pal. This is a debut novel for Aleya Michelle and for a debut novel, I thought it was very well written. But I did have a few issues with the writing style. 1 – There’s a bit of repetition when she switches POVs between Roxy and Kade. This seemed to happen quite a bit at the beginning but did get toned down towards the end. 2 – There is a bit of skipping happening in some scenes that had me feeling like I blinked and missed something. For example, they’re at the movies and suddenly they’re walking back to his truck, no mention of the end of the movie. Or when Roxy is at her pole dancing class and they’re about to do introductions before warming up and suddenly they’re ready to start class. This probably isn’t a really big deal, but every time it happened I kept feeling like I had missed something and would re-read it just to be sure. For me, these scenes seemed to lack good flow. 3 – There’s a scene where a character called Ebony was accidentally called Emma. This is just a simple mistake but one that should have been picked up on by the beta readers. Now for the good stuff. The sex is hot and very frequent. And I do mean very frequent. I don’t think I’d be lying if I said there’s a sex scene in almost every chapter after they do it for the first time. And Kade is very well endowed. And despite my issues above, the book kept me engaged, which lately has been a little hard to do. I read this book fairly quickly and didn’t want to put it down. A word of warning, keep a box of tissues handy, you'll certainly need them at some stage!! The book revolves around Roxy, a strong and independent young woman who isnt afraid to go after what she wants. She hasnt exactly had it easy when it comes to the opposite sex. To be honest she's has the worst luck in the world when it comes to men. They've left her emotionally fragile and lacking confidence at times.Just when she thought she had them worked out she meets Kade. Kade is a construction worker by day and a surfer every other minute. He's kind, considerate, sexy as hell and one of those guys that every girl dreams of having in her life. He's almost the perfect guy. Note I said almost - he has his moments when he's a pompous ass and all you want to do is knock some sense into him!! But overall he does love Roxy, she's his everything from the beginning, even after a short time. The fact that she's his first lover just makes their connection even more unbreakable. He makes her question everything she's known about life and men. With high protective walls surrounding her heart, will Kade be the one to tear them down? Will he prove her wrong about men or right?? There is something special about Roxy and Kade's relationship, I can compare it to a closed rose bud, slowly opening with the sunshine's warmth, till its in full bloom, its beauty shinning. It makes you believe in happily ever afters and knights in shinning Armour sent to rescue the fair maiden, in this case emotional rescuing. Yes they have their ups and downs in their blooming relationship, but they take each step together, working through each obstacle together, whether its big or small, but will they be able to overcome the biggest obstacle or stumble and fall?? Will Kade and Roxy go the distance??? Will their love for one another survive? Breaking my Heart is one of those books that will make you feel. It will make you laugh, cry, cringe, angry, want to give a certain someone a piece of their mind, want to kick a few butts and some more crying. Its a good old fashion love story, with heaps of steamy scenes that will leave you fanning yourself, that makes you believe that anything is possible with the right person beside you. I cant wait for book two, to see what life has in store for Kade and Roxy!! ***** out of 5 stars For amazing characters and making me fall in love with them

A girl with a hurtful past and a near destructive present meets an attractive guy in a club and he wasn’t like the guys Roxy has been with in the past and that’s what pulled her to him even more and put her guard up at the same time. But surprise, surprise, Kade wasn’t all sweet and he’s not without personal issues as well. I love the plot of the Breaking My Heart. The pain and the emotions that both characters were heartfelt and I found myself being in there with both of them -- feeling anger, hurt, and happy whenever something happens to them. The last parts of the book were probably one of the most heartbreaking scenes I’ve read and I loved how Aleya Michelle pulled that emotion out of me. I was beside Roxy hugging her through my Kindle when Kade said those things to her and although Kade has a point, I agree with Roxy that it hurts and some things, especially words, cannot be taken back once said. And that ending, OUCH. I want to know what happens next! But why only 3 stars and not 4 or 5? I understand that sometimes some books aren’t 100% perfect when it comes to formatting or grammatical errors and often I just autocorrect it in my head while reading and just overlook it when I write a review but the one in this book is hard to ignore. I found myself autocorrecting the use of punctuations, especially the commas, and going back and forth on a sentence because it was badly formatted that I get confused a lot and these issues took a lot of time for me to just overlook and because of that, it made an effect on my rating. There were also parts of the book that I had a hard time following, like one thought jumped from here to the next. Stars: 3 stars! Recommended to: If you enjoy a good drama-filled romance with sweet moments and heartbreaking issues. POV: First person. Dual POV. Series: Yes. Cliffhanger: Yes. EXTRA COMMENT: I want to know what happens next for them!!! Aleya Michelle

You're the adrenaline that runs through my veins. You are like a heroin addiction that makes me weak, needing and brittle. I feel sexy and confident, yet adored and appreciated when I am with you. Your love engulfs me like no other, it creates a netting of safety, a warmth of refuge in the sanctuary of your heart." ~Roxy With words like these spoken between two people in love, how can I not be in love with this story?? Overall the story was good. Roxy was a party girl, into drinking, drugs and sex with with no attachments. Kade was the quiet, inexperienced virgin with the killer looks and hot body. There is an immediate attraction when these two see each other from across the club and after a rocky start, they fall hard for one another. I loved the chemistry between Kade and Roxy and the development of their relationship. I was happy that Kade made her want to change for the better and she was able to grow as a person. The storyline was good and I was happy that no matter what obstacles they faced, they handled them together and came out strong as a couple. Until the end when he broke and shattered her heart. It was heartbreaking and I definitely felt Roxy's pain. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 to see what's next for Roxy and if Kade can get his woman back. Unfortunately what didn't work for me was the editing. There were several grammatical errors, formatting and editing issues, and the dialogue was kind of immature at times. Throughout the entire book, I found that I had to reread a sentence or a paragraph several times. First trying to figure out who was speaking and then to reword it so that it made sense. There were runon sentences and then commas used instead of periods making me want to break out a red pen and edit it myself. Also, the scenes jumped a lot without any type of break in the story. One minute they would be talking and the next line it would be 4 weeks later. Because of this distraction, it took me twice as long as it should have to read the book.

I would have given him at least 10 chances to turn me off, of course :) When I started reading, I took no notice of the length and felt constantly like this could be coming to an end. Each argument that presented itself, I was like, is this it? If I can say honestly, that one minor dislike was their arguments were never really arguments. I understand, being young and in love for the first time, minor disagreements over tiny issues feel huge, so I let it go. Roxy though, is a very strong, feisty and defiant woman however, so I do believe there could have been a little more tantrum throwing and maybe some screaming? Aleya writes love and passion extremely well, leaving no doubt in the readers mind the extent of their love for one another. Despite Roxy’s inability to trust, Kade having already walked away once, they complimented each other wholeheartedly and I was rooting for them all the way. The sex scenes were wonderfully written, and they were definitely sizzling but not hard core erotica. For once I am glad for that because it wouldn’t have suited their relationship at all. When it did draw near the end, the cause of Roxy’s broken heart was so far from any of the thoughts I had and I really appreciate that in a story. Overall, I really did love the beginning of Kade & Roxy’s story and I moved straight onto Healing My Heart. If anything, I was grateful for their separation as they were often a little too lovey-dovey for me. In the same respect, it suited the emotional maturity of each of them so I believe Aleya did an exceptional job in defining and portraying her characters. I cannot wait to see how their story concludes in Forever In My Heart! Thank you Aleya for a fantastic read. -Reviewed by Maci LLEP Blog Owner

She's very guarded and doesn't realize what she has in Kade, she toys with him at first but fortunately she comes to her senses :) Jemma~ Roxy's friend, and even though they party hard, I like the way Jemma builds and encourages Roxy ♥ Kade ~ He's rather old school but he had me at surfing! LOL! He's such a gentleman right from the start, I mean Roxy is practically handing herself over on a platter and as much as he wants to accept, he treats her like a lady ♥ I think he's going to have his hands full with Roxy or should I say full OF Roxy! My favorite Kade moment is at the work function he attends with Roxy, he's such a sweetheart ♥ I think Roxy is taken by surprise when Kade doesn't respond to her like most men do to her advances and how she really feels about him. In the beginning, I was a little irritated with Roxy and how she painted Kade with the same brush as she did most men and just how she treated him put me off :( But like most of us, once she realizes how she really feels, they have an honest chat and finally we're on the right track! When Jemma and Roxy start taking dance classes I not only have a giggle, but I find myself wanting to sign up for classes of my own :) Kade is good for Roxy and he shows her how to to trust and love but usually its those we love the most that have the power to hurt us the most :( Something happens in Kade's life that leaves him hurting and disillusioned and Roxy bears the brunt of it! The epilogue is both sad and moving! LOVED IT!!! We see Roxy deal with a piece of her past which I think is monumental in her healing as a person. Giving us a taste of "Healing my Heart" was a good move Aleya Michelle, it leaves us curious as to what is going to happen next! ★★★★ Reviewed by Heidi

This was a truly wonderful debut from Aleya Michelle, that pulled me in from the first page and held my attention until the end, where I not only wanted to slap our leading man, but Aleya herself for leaving my hanging the way she did. What I thought was her only redeeming quality was the fact that she had her head screwed on Monday to Friday, working and studying graphic design. But boy she let lose when the weekend came. Then we meet Kade. Sexy, shy and oh so innocent aspiring pro surfer, who works hard as a construction site manager and shocks the hell out of Roxy by asking her out on a date after he refuses to hook up with her for her usual one night stand. And this is were Roxy annoyed me because she played with Kade's heart a number of times and when she finally gets her act together and realises he's the real deal we see her grow and change. Watching Roxy's character develop was great. She stopped the drug use and partying, and realised that there was more to life than that. I thought she matured and came out of herself and Aleya did a wonderful job of getting inside her mind and showing the readers all the reasons why Roxy was the way she was. She became the character that I was cheering for and want her get her happily ever after. But life being life, things are thrown in their way and while I totally understood the things that Kade had going on personally, there were a few times that I wanted to smack him upside the head and say snap out of it. The ending... Argh. You're killing me Aleya. I'm going to be waiting very impatiently for book two so I can find out what the hell is going to happen next. I love dual POV stories and Aleya did a great job getting into both characters and breathing life into them. They were real and engaging and keep your interest through the entire book. Definitely a great debut and story I would recommend. Congratulations Aleya.

Breaking My Heart is the first book of the My Heart Series written by Aleya Michelle. The book starts off with Roxy, the fun loving, down for anything girl that everyone loves. She knows how to party hard and handle men; they are all the same to her and only seem to be interested in one thing, that is until she meets Kade. They soon go on a date and have a great time, but when Kade informs Roxy that he is going on a fishing trip with his friends, she assumes that is code for hooking up with another girl. Roxy quickly cuts ties with him and sends him packing. But she just can’t seem to get him off her mind. She invites him to a work event, and it is plain to see that Kade still has feeling for Roxy when he storms off after he sees her flirting with the bartender. Afterwards Roxy talks to Kade about her feelings and how she has a hard time trusting men, Kade reassures her that he is nothing like the men that she has dated in the past, and he is not going anywhere. Kade’s life is so busy with surfing and practicing for competitions, as well as working, and if that wasn’t enough his mom and dad are having marriage issues as well. Will Kade be able to keep his promise to Roxy and always be there for her? Breaking My Heart was such a lovely book to read, it may not have as much drama as some other books in its category, but it was a good story. Kade is just one of those characters that kind of becomes your book boyfriend. He is so sweet and nice to Roxy, but a badass in the bedroom. I absolutely love him! Roxy is the type of girl that you would want for your best friend, she seems like she is always the life of the party, and willing to tell you what she really thinks when asked a question, no sugar coating it with her. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see where their story goes from here. I would definitely recommend this book to any one wanted to read a romance.

4/5 I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. First things first, when I requested to read this book, I had no idea that it was written by an Australian using Aussie vernacular. That being said, once I realized this, it all made so much more sense. There were little things, like a chemist is a drug store, and a ute is a truck. Okay, so with all that being said, and getting over a slight language barrier, I liked the story. We first meet Roxy. She’s a twenty-four year old graphic designer that loves to party, her friends, sex and enjoys popping the occasional recreational drug. One night, while out partying, she spots Kade and decides to let him know exactly what she wants. Sex. Roxy doesn't trust men, she’s never had a reason to, so she's absolutely shocked when Kade tells her he just wants to buy her a drink and talk. Roxy’s got walls the size of Mount Everest around her heart, and Kade is her surfing knight and shining armor to break them down. Aleya does a great job of writing about characters that are real, with real jobs and career aspirations. I can tell that she did her research, because her descriptions are great, and I can follow along with everything in my head. For me though, in the beginning of the book, there was just a bit too much of the mushy “I love you” moments in the beginning. Also, at times, I felt like I was reading the same parts over and over again as the author gave each character a chance to tell what happened. While that could be beneficial, I felt that there was no added value to the story. But it’s a good read. And Kade is sexy as hell. He’s not the typical hot surfer guy that’s had sex with everyone and is looking for a conquest. I thought Aleya did really well with this book. I’m going to read the next one.

The language is a bit stiff and unsure, but this could have been the authors intend to show how people are when they first meet someone and start a relationship lol. For me it was about half way through before I settled into this story. I actually loved the idea that Roxy was the aggressor and more experienced one in the couple it makes a change from your typical innocent, virgin female protagonist. I kinda loved Roxy, yes she’s a bit insecure but what women isn’t, I loved that she is insatiable and sexually pursues Kade. We women have needs to and sometimes we need sex and a good orgasm more than men lol!!! I swung back and forth about Kade he was a real marmite character for me at times I thought he was a sexy angel but then the next minute I wanted to reach into the book and throttle him!!! Jemma was hands down the best wing women ever I loved her!!! I really hated Kade at the end of the book what an arse I just don’t understand his motivation at all. The maturity levels seem worlds apart between Roxy and Kade she seemed like a world weary 25yr old and he was a bit pathetic still living at home and being a bit of a wuss at 24!! I enjoyed this book and as I was gifted a copy of the next book in the series as well I’m going straight onto Healing My Heart. Book #1 Breaking my Heart gets 3.5 stars from me.

She sees Kade as her one and only starts to accept that someone truly loves her. They have their up and down just like all modern couples today. You feel their ups and downs, you know what they are going through and know that they will make it. They are young and they grow together, you can see they try so hard to work through their problems, you are so proud at how they both grow and let barriers down until, suddenly tragedy strikes Kade and he just runs off the rails. This book will break your heart, you will feel Roxys pain, you will feel Kades anguish and want to help him through it. You will see how he shuts Roxy out and all she wants to do is be their for him and love home, to help him through it all. Alexa Michelle has truly written this book with a lot of passion and truth, one can think maybe she has experienced some of this. It is a wonderful book and I can't wait for the second book to see where this story is going to lead to. I would definitely give this book 4 stars and hope we don't have to wait to long for book 2.

He is sweet, caring and a surfer boy to boot and he wants to tear down Roxy's walls. Will she let him or will she push him away? From me I wanted to love this book but I had a hard time. I did like it and for a debut novel it was great. I will give it a 4 because the story line was good and the characters were good but the content was a little much for me. I should say the over use of how they felt about each other was a bit much. Granted I'm an old married lady but even in the begging my husband and I weren't quiet this mushy. The wild child and the shy boy are a great combination and I like how the story was written. I'm a bit sad about the ending and I hope that the 2nd book will be happier and I will read it. Roxy needed to be slapped a few times and she kind of was annoying but she calmed down. How could I not love Kade. I mean his name alone is hot. I look forward to the next one. Congrats Aleya for a great debut book.

    Sassy Beta Reading & Review

This was a good read but I wouldn't go out on a limb and say it was the best thing I ever read. This is the first book of a 3 book series so there was no HEA, no tears of joy, no aawww so sweet ending. The book lives up to it's title name...."Breaking my heart"....well not MY heart but Roxy's anyway. So that in itself should tell you that there is no HEA for this couple...at least for now. It was great seeing all the love Kade and Roxy had for each other through most of the book but of course what a let down that all is not well in the land down under. This was a multi pov and I would loved to have seen more of Kade's POV. Most of his POV was just rehashing what we had already seen from Roxy's pov. Sure it was good seeing some of his thoughts and feelings at some of the moments but some of the key moments were left out or would have beneifited from just being in his pov I think. The "surprise" was gone since we had already seen what happened from Roxy's pov. But I do have to admit one thing....the sex was hot! This took me about 5 hours to read (with starts and stops). All in all, the story line was good, loved Kade and watching his growth. Was nice to see Roxy straighten herself up and the emotional roller coaster ride she was on. There were no heart twinge or teary moments for me with this book but there were a few"are you kidding me" moments. So.......would I recommend this book? Yes, as long as you know up front this is a 3 book series and there is not HEA at the end of book 1. Would I read more from this author? Yes, I can't leave this couple without their HEA.

Men have always posed bad territory for Roxy after the haunting departure of her father nineteen years ago. In her debut novel Aleya Michelle creates a rarity in the books I have read a least evolving to describe the ins and outs of using drugs and alcohol as an escape. I really enjoyed reading Breaking my Heart, I couldn’t put it down in the vest to continue to see what’s next. The main characters of Roxy and Kade had me invested till the very conclusion of the first book in the series. Roxy is a living the partying life, single and 24 with a steady job and a future she is happy with. Kade, a sexy aspiring surfer comes in and creates waves to the ripple of everything Roxy thought she ever wanted. I found the connection suitable and loving especially considering the novel is set in Sydney, Australia. Roxy and Cade meet a club and from there forth, Roxy starts to believe the notion and idea’s of men she has in her head may not be all true. It is relatable, to many who have got hurt in the past and who have used various degrees on danger to find an escape. I loved the debut from Aleya Michelle, I found it believable and spoke to a wide range of raw emotions. I definitely find myself invested in what is coming next, this is the first book in the series and doesn’t have a HEA, so I am intrigued to read Book 2 that’s’ for sure. The chemistry and sexy surfer of Kade had me hooked to continue reading into Roxy and Kade’s world. I will definitely be reading book 2. Tash from Book Lit Love

This starts with Roxy 25, a party girl who loves a wild life, she is wild ,openly sex starved, parties hard, does not trust men since her father left when she was 5 She saw him and went over to talk at the end of the night, she ask him home with her. He said no, and ask her for a date She had not had that happen before, most o9f the guys would have jumped at the chance, she respected him for it. .But she is also strong and independent. Until one night at the club ,she sees Kane 23, shy young, sexy, old fashion gentleman, and he is a virgin. He is a surfer and a construction worker and he wants Roxy.Slowly Roxy let her guard down with Kade. But with his rising fame and the things she has done in the past will come back I love you to hurt them. There were to many of the "I love you scenes, sex) and then nothing important for awhile then repeats. I LOVE the characters , and the story line, This is a great book, for a first book ,she will do more and get more experience and I hope to read more and be able to watch as she could become a best seller .

Oh. My Gosh... I actually felt my heart pulsing, my mind racing & my cheeks blushing while reading this! Aleya Michelle found a gold mine in this provocative first novel of hers. Roxy clearly got issues with men, so it's understandable how she is with guys around her, and those she meets in bars and parties. It's understandable how she continuously puts up a wall around her heart when men like Kade profess feelings for her. But Kade is entirely different from all the men who came into her life. Oh. A surfer guy, thoughtful, one-woman man and oozing with great personality, what's not to like? Of course, Roxy would feel insecure, would think that there are a lot of girls falling for Kade, so she's guarding her heart against disappointment and jealousy. But clearly, what her mind tells her to do does not agree to what her heart feels for Kade. So she gives in to her emotions and makes a life with Kade... until he eventually breaks her heart. Ouch! I couldn't put words to what I felt when Kade seems to drift away from Roxy. I am aghast with chock and pain. I'm not surprised if Roxy feels the same. Roxy & Kade are the next hottest book couple to watch out for! That much is true!

    Escape Reality with Books

Roxy is a wild girl with a love them and leave them attitude. She spends the week working in Graphic Designs but come the weekend she lets loose with drugs, dancing and sex until one night she meets a surfer called Kade who isn’t interested in that lifestyle or a woman who is part of it. He causes Roxy to reassess what she wants in life and what is important to her and her future. It took me a while to warm towards Roxy but when she finally climbed over the walls she had erected around her heart Roxy is a wild girl with a love them and leave them attitude. It took me a while to warm towards Roxy but when she finally climbed over the walls she had erected around her heart I crossed my fingers that this relationship would be forever. Sexy surfer Kade has all the sweet moves and can’t figure out why Roxy pushes him away, but is determined to get to her heart. Unfortunately problems away from Roxy forces him to question everything in his life and make some life altering decisions. This was the part when I fell for Roxy and started loathing Kade. This book is set in Australia and I loved the fact that it stays true to Australian culture and the way of life there. A warning that there is a cliff hanger ending leaving you waiting to see what will happen next in the series. A great start to the series but Kade better sort his shit out if I am going to like him again!!! I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Diana.
