This was a recommendation from the fabulous J/P Facebook group. I loved it. Short, well written and an exciting H chasing h story. He pursued her for 5 years and refused to give her up. Dominant Alpha paired with a strong independent heroine. I will definitely check out more in the series.

3.75 Stars. Really liked this book. Liked the Hero. He chased the heroine for five years and was clueless as to why she left. But he loved her and couldn’t live without her. But it needed an epilogue at a minimum, a few more chapters, or another books with the same couple. It ended too abruptly. Many things weren’t addressed or tied up like the harem, psychic abilities, heroine’s family reunion and her role as prince’s bride. You do have to suspend disbelief and the book could have used more back 3.75 Stars. Really liked this book. Liked the Hero. He chased the heroine for five years and was clueless as to why she left. Good premise book. Nice story line. Female heroine kick ass. Problems for me. Story didn't flow - had more of a fragmented parts inserted without consideration of the others. Also, I just couldn't believe the evil character premise and motivation. Also the romantic/erotica scenes were flat with more of a narrative presentation than anything. Regardless, this book, if it continues in a series format, has promise as I really liked the two featured secondary characters a lot. _______________________ Good premise book. Nice story line. I ALREADY READ IT in Oct/2012 under the title of: Prince's Courtesan (Imperial Princes #1): Mina CarterPrince's Courtesan I then went to look at the current Amazon listing and see at the very bottom this useful info: *Please note - This title has previously been released with another publisher and has not been revised or altered significantly.** My fault for missing that at the bottom of the book blurb and therefore paying for a book I had already paid for and read in the past. Heads up for any potential buyers of this book that it's not new, it's a re-release without significant changes with a new title (although the author said "This title" in her alert about it being a re-release but title is change) and cover.

I have very mixed feelings about this story. While I enjoy most of it, I'm a little put off by the hero's rapey behavior. He doesn't totally cross The Line, but this would absolutely set off any reader with even the slightest rape trigger. This goes far beyond dubious consent. And it's done as a punishment/revenge kinda thing, not even the somehow slightly more acceptable 'drunken fumblings that take just a liiittle too long to stop' that I see in stories every now and then. God, how horrible do I have very mixed feelings about this story. While I enjoy most of it, I'm a little put off by the hero's rapey behavior. God, how horrible does that sound? Anyway, if you have issues with non-consensual hate-molesting, I would not recommend this story for you. I think that sentence says everything you need to know when deciding whether or not to read this book.

The books says oh it’s ok because she really loves him too and only ran away because she thought he wanted to make her his mistress not his wife....ok..... but if he really thought she left because she didn’t like him enough then his actions are abusive and fucked up. He has these fantasies of “forcing her “ once he catches her to take his revenge... let’s call it rape and be real... but then realized he couldn’t do that (but he already did because he would chain her and shave her and grope her and threaten her and instill terror and threats of selling her or imprisoning her etc). Not sexy because he literally enslaved her and takes away her power. Because his feelings are hurt. If you think about any of it he is so despicable it is unpalatable. And while he says “Mea culpa that was totally fucked up to do all that” I don’t think he is a good person and I didn’t like it. Also, there is a “harem” he owns of literal slave “bimbos who are just pretty but dumb”. Slaves. Slave owner. Of sex slaves. Noope. Not a good guy.

On the surface the book cover is stunning and according to the story is an accurate image of the heroine, purple haired, badass princess Jaida. From the very start of the book we’re led to believe the hero Prince Seth has committed some horrible act against our heroine. We’re led to believe he wooed her, took her virginity and then basically denounced her to be a part of his harem, a special concubine. From the very start of the book we’re led to believe the hero Prince Seth has committed some horrible act against our heroine. We’re led to believe he wooed her, took her virginity and then basically denounced her to be a part of his harem, a special concubine. Can we say dick?!? Even the first few moments we meet the hero he doesn’t come off as warm and loving but rather a vengeful scorned lover out for revenge. But given the situation both find rhemselves in Seth really wants to make Jaida suffer. To put it simply a miscommunication between the two leads to Jaida running away. Not for a year but instead five years. Five years to which she is in hiding, struggling to survive, working various hard labor jobs, places no one would expect a Princess to be working. Both have had years to allow their pain so consume them so they truly force themselves to believe they hate one another. They deny any feelings and shared moments they once thought was the beginning of a happy future together. Again all because of a miscommunication. What’s worse, the hero basically has his head servant approach Jaida, the night after they had sex when Jaida is 18 and a Virgin, to present her with a betrothal bracelet. Basically this is a form of proposal in their culture. Not only does he have someone else do this, the servant backstabs them both and instead presents her with courtesan robes, equating her to the Princes whore rather than future wife. This leads Jaida to run. I’ll admit their culture seems very OK with harems and it wasn’t clear if Seth partaked while she was gone or would once their married. Jaidas more hurt because raised as a princess, one cannot expect her to become a ‘whore’. And this isn’t even a conceited thing, Jaida refuses to be demoted if you will and with a broken heart believes the pr8nce never loved her and five years of running later he finally catches her. Most of the book is them mentally hurting each other and it takes awhile to find out the truth and from an outside perspective it’s just annoying that all this occurred because of something Jaida could have cleared up had she swallowed her pride and just spoken to Seth. It was hard to like with one because of this lol. Plus once she’s caught she has a hard time turning off her emotions and her body’s response to Seth. It’s just so frustrating cause you’re as a reader strongly disliking them both in that moment mad she’s giving in and pissed he’s treating her this way. Then suddenly the end, problem solved situation over and HEA. Felt too rushed all of a sudden and I would have been happy with a epilogue. Alas with my rant review over I don’t think I’d be reading this again. Everything about the story just pissed me off but if you like uncesssary drama, miscommunication, hot and uncomfortable sex scenes and a characters that you wanna slap, I wish you luck.

He has ruined her life in his pursuit because he wants her that desperately. Nevermind that he believes she turned down his betrothal because the "ring" wasn't ornate enough or that she has actively run from him for 5 years now. He doesn't care. He wants her. When he finally has her, he makes her his slave and can't understand why she won't come to his bed willingly. He's ready to treat her like a princess, even if he won't actually marry her, and she should be thanking her lucky stars for the privilege. Her freedom is unimportant because she belongs to him. Yeah. You can see why this is kind of not so romantic. If the hero wasn't so besotted and clueless, if he'd actually been malicious and purposeful, then it definitely would have crossed the line. And actually he does go borderline rapey, seducing her on the cusp of sleep and having sex with her, but she's totally fine with it and wakes up ready to be whatever he wants her to be. See, Sethan has no idea that Jaida ran because she'd expected a marriage proposal, but the guy he trusted it to had his own agenda and offered her whores' robes instead. So feeling betrayed, she ran. Now he makes her a criminal by putting a bounty on her head...he claims it was to protect her, since the stipulation was that she be returned to him untouched, but it meant if she wanted to stay away from him she had to put herself in danger to do so. So I think it was more about him getting her back than anything. And that was all he cared about...getting her back. He didn't care that she didn't want to or that she'd separated herself from her friends and family and lived in poverty rather than be with him. He couldn't fathom why she wouldn't want to be his, an attitude which pervades the entire story and really makes Sethan a non-romantic figure. Once he realizes why she left, he gets all kinds of better and feels horrible for the way he treated her and whatnot, but I wanted him to come to the conclusion that her decision to NOT be with him was a valid one no matter the reason she left. If she'd just decided she didn't like their one night together and didn't want a repeat, that was her right to say so and he should have respected it, rather than running her to ground.

Voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. I do so love her alien romances! Jaida's life comes crashing down after learning her fate after spending the night with the Prince. Question is can he follow through or will he finally learn the truth before its too late? I really liked Jaida and she changed from a Lady to learning to take care of herself and working hard. She's a strong woman and I loved reading her. Seth although he rubbed me the wrong way with his male stupidity at times he really was a good guy. Sweet even. Just oblivious to what was going on under his nose. Never thought through it all and assumed the worst of Jaida. I recommend the book. I really loved it and cannot wait for more!

Title: Pursued by the Imperial Prince Series: Imperial Princes Author: Mina Carter Designation: Book One of Series, Novella Length, Standalone, No Cliffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Deliciously Sexy Sci-Fi Stars***** **Disclosure: This is the re-release of a book originally published in 2011 under the title Prince's Courtesan. There have been no major changes other than the title and cover. Oh my! I adore science fiction, addicted to heart-pounding adventure, completely smitten with sexy aliens, and a total romance junkie, so when I get it all in one great read, I'm in heaven. And nobody writes super sexy aliens like Mina Carter! I've been a Carter fan for years and love everything she writes. Carter's work includes a menagerie of subgenres and fantastical creatures, ranging from aliens to gargoyles, reapers, shifters, vampires, zombies, and everything in between. But out of everything Carter pens, her sci-fi romance is one of my favorites! And Pursued by the Imperial Prince is no exception. I read this story six years ago when it was originally released as Harem Prince's Courtesan using the Kindle Unlimited Program. I love Kindle Unlimited but you can only borrow books in the program; you don't actually own them. I loved this story so much, when I saw it had been re-released, I couldn't wait to purchase it for my permanent library and read it again. Although there have been no significant changes other than a new title and cover, I enjoyed it even more the second time around. That alone is quite a recommendation! But let's talk a few details. Pursued by the Imperial Prince is an exciting, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, standalone novella-length super sexy sci-fi romp filled to the brim with danger, drama, angst, action, adventure, suspense, steamy sex, and dreamy romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with dual his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful, outlawed noble woman Jaida Lianl and handsome, commanding, and very dangerous Imperial warrior prince Sethan Kai Renza. The dialogue is smart, seductive, well executed, and flows effortlessly. But without a doubt, my favorite element of this erotic tale is the cast of intriguing characters. I was immediately drawn into the story by the plight of these two star-crossed lovers, charismatic but arrogant Prince Sethan and brave, stubborn Lady Jaida. Jaida is a beautiful young noblewoman who had her heart broken by Imperial Prince Sethan at the tender age of eighteen when she was offered the red robes of a harem courtesan instead of a betrothal bracelet the morning after an unbridled night of passion with the prince. Jaida did the only thing any self-respecting lady would do - she not so politely declined and left! Unfortunately, the prince took offense, declaring Lady Jaida an outlaw and criminal, effectively exiling from her family. What's a girl to do? Run, of course, and keep running for five long years until she's finally captured by none other than the devilishly attractive Prince Seth himself. Oh my! These two strong, intriguing characters literally exploded from the pages and captured my heart. Their attraction was irresistible and their fate undeniable. The chemistry between Jaida and Seth was so hot it sizzled! But as much as I loved Jaida, I wanted to throttle Seth. He was dangerous, domineering, quick to anger, even quicker to jump the gun, and all too eager to believe the words of someone else rather than getting the story from the source. But he was a real panty-melter who truly loved Jaida to distraction! *swoon* As most of us know, the path to true love is never easy and Jaida and Seth's journey is fraught with danger, drama, angst, lies, and unexpected betrayal. But will they each be strong enough to finally admit their true feelings, learn to trust, and find their way back to the other? We'll see! But the moral of this story is never send someone else to do a job you should have done yourself ! lol... No spoilers from me but I will say this... Handsome prince determined to capture the woman he loves and force her to submit-check! A beautiful young noblewoman with a broken heart, alone and desperate but determined never to submit-check! Danger, action, adventure, lies, deceit, betrayal, space pirates, and an unexpected turn of events-oh my! Witty banter, heated attraction, steamy passion, and dreamy romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more! It may be a relatively quick read but it packs quite a punch! Did I like this book? No, I loved it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain quite a few steamy, dreamy love scenes! Hubba! Hubba! If you enjoy sexy romance featuring strong, sexy aliens and the women they love, lightly seasoned with elements of science fiction and sprinkled throughout with danger, drama, action, adventure, and suspense, then this book is screaming your name. Will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I snickered, snorted, sniffled and shook my fists in anger but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read.

This was "other worldly" so to speak as in not fantasy characters in the real world, but more of a whole different planetary system type feel that was very refreshing to read. It brought a new perspective from what I have been reading recently. The story line was new as well, since it was the Prince who was doing the chasing and pinning for the woman instead of the other way around. Although we still had a happily ever after, it was nice to have the male character have to fight for his woman for a change. Pursued by the Imperial Prince focuses on Jaida who instantly falls in love with Seth when she was presented to court. She thought all her fairy tale dreams had come true, but when she was only presented with of being the prince's mistress. Faced with a choice, Jaida ran. Seth is not accustomed to being turned down. What he wanted most in the world was for Jaida to rule beside him, but instead he was left broken-hearted when she ran from him. Seth is not a man to take rejection, so he chased her. He will follow her till the ends of the earth because if one thing was certain Jaida was his and no one else's, the sooner she submitted to that the better off they would both be. Carter writes an amazing story of domination and submission between these two lovers. Neither stops and take a minute to think of who the other truly is and both lets circumstances dictate how the will live their lives. It is these circumstances that keeps them apart for so long. Seth mistakenly puts his trust in the wrong person, and Jaida does not put her trust into Seth the man she loves. Although everything works itself out in the end, it is their inability to have faith and trust in each other that keeps them from obtaining their happily ever after much sooner. Although this story is a short novella, I find myself giving it a lower rating because I spend most of it trying to discover what has ripped these two apart. It is not until I am about 75% of the way through the story, that we discover this information. Yes, I understand that this is given to us in the synopsis of the book, but I personally don't pay the closest attention to them. I skim them for the general idea and then file the information away. Keeping that in mind, I spent most of the story confused as to what the actual reason for Seth having to chase after Jaida were. Did it ruin the story for me, of course not but it did make for a less enjoyable reading experience. If you are looking for a different type of romance story with an alpha male that chases his alpha female, then this is the story for you. I honestly hope that Carter continues this story line.

Loved the story between Lady Jaida and Prince Sethan. Great read. I own and read the earlier version The Prince’s Courtesan years ago. Never read book 2 so I am glad Ms Carter is making this into a series as a lot of wonderful and interesting characters are met in this book. I had forgotten how much fun this book was and how much I loved the heroine Jaida. No shrinking violet this one, Jaida is capable, smart, a woman of action who can take care of herself. I had forgotten how much fun this book was and how much I loved the heroine Jaida. No shrinking violet this one, Jaida is capable, smart, a woman of action who can take care of herself. Her heart was badly beaten 5 years ago when someone trusted by the prince lied to her. She has been on the run for 5 years staying ahead of her pursuers by wit and guile. Even though he is a fully trained warrior, Prince Sethan was a complete immature imbecile 5 years ago. Getting someone else to propose to Jaida instead of doing it himself causes 5 years of problems for them both. I am not sure Seth learnt much but Jaida grew into one hell of a woman. This is my honest review of this book. My original review. Lots of action and an enjoyable read despite the plot that has been done before. Lack of communication and treachery once again causes problems. Nothing special about this plot, has been done before many times but as this is in Ms Carter style, it is always worth reading. I did enjoy the fact that Jaida becomes one hell of a woman due to being hunted for 5 years. I want to be her friend she is so cool and able to deal with so many different things. Prince Seth has hunted Jaida for 5 years thinking she had used him. He needed to get his head on straight, tell her how he felt and ask what went wrong.

I liked not having the same old plot and same old circumstances, add in that this one was from another world I guess you could say and I really enjoyed it. Seth wants only one woman, who happens to be the woman who scorned his gift and said it was good enough for her, or did she? He wants the woman who has been on the run from him for years, the one hasn’t stopped thinking about, the only one who makes him insane, Jaida. I really like how Seth kept looking for her and when he finally found her he ummm took some let’s just say creative steps to keep her with him. Jaida is strong but at the same time Seth broke her heart. Lies had been told, what both thought happened and betrayal was deep. I think the only issue I had with this was the possibility Seth had a relationship with someone else but it was never said for sure so it made me wonder when it occurred but honestly it didn’t take away from the story. I liked the different feel this one had, I hope Mina Carter plans on writing more books about some of the characters we are introduced to because I would love to read about them. If you like a romance with a different feel to it but also like fantasy then this is one I think you will enjoy.

I really enjoyed this story! I loved the characters. Jaida was great and I loved that she didn't just lie down and surrender to Seth. Seth refuses to give up on getting Jaida back and has chased her for 5 years. They are cute together. They have a strong and instant connection and have since they first met. Seth has to get to know the new Jaida and they have to figure out what is going on between them. Neither wants to come out and talk about how they feel or why Jaida ran which does cause things to stay unresolved for longer but they are also dealing with other factors. There was plenty going on in this book to engage and keep your attention. I loved what was going on between Jaida and Seth and really enjoyed their interactions. There is also space pirates and fighting with them. The sex is explicit and well done. I thought it was blended into the story well. This story was a pretty quick read for me but had everything that I needed it to. I felt that it was a great length for how the story was written. I really enjoyed it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Jaida loved Sethan but his treatment of her is not that of a lover but more of someone who she feels hates her for leaving without telling him the reason. They will both have to put aside a lot of resentment from five years ago to repair the damage to their relationship. There is also someone willing to commit murder to ensure this does not happen. A big thank you to Mina Carter for the enthralling review copy. Loved it.

This book is full of conflict, lust, love, hatred, misunderstandings, and adventure. I honestly can say I wanted more from this story. The ending seemed rushed, I wish there was more in regards to the past 5 years for Seth. Maybe it's because I wasn't ready for the book to end?

Mina Carter puts out another fun read, I really enjoyed Pursued by the Imperial Prince. It just goes to show you what happens when we assume and don’t communicate. They’re perspectives on how they saw things, decent length detail meshed along with the story and personalities and hot scenes. Job well done! This was read and reviewed Voluntarily by me.

Talk about creepy sidekicks! I really enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow teammates. I'm looking forward to book 2!

Jaida is the daughter of Lord Malden, Duke of Lianl on her 18th birthday she was a debutante at the palace ball room and prince Sethan Kai Renza the imperial prince took notice of her. Can't tell ya more it would mess up the story but let's say things didn't go as either of the planned and she has been in the run for 5 years. OK there is a huge jump in prologue and chapter 1 that confused me a little. We find out she has been running from the prince and I honestly started to hate the guy lol. Pursued by the Imperial Prince by Mina Carter is Book 1 of the Imperial Princes Series. Please note that this is a sci-fi romance and a RE-RELEASE under another title which was previously available through another publisher. I have not read the other release, however it is my understanding that there is little-to-no difference between the two texts.
