The h is determined to save her sister from their father's wraith by some convoluted story involving the queen a nunnery and a story so farfetched the nuns would have to be drunk on sacramental wine to buy it. Fast forward to the start of the story. The psycho father is leaving her stranded in a cave with no way out but jumping into the ocean and drowning. He thinks she's been sleeping around because she started rumors about herself to take the heat off of her sister. Apparently no one in the 13 century knew what a pregnant woman looked like. So starting a little gossip about herself would throw everyone off the track. Enter the hero. Sailing on a ship and despite a gazillion to one odds he notices her on the cliff. Recognizing a damsel in distress he has them stop the ship and goes over to climb the cliff to save her. Is she excited? Happy? Thrilled to be rescued? Nope. None of the above. She doesn't like that he is a highlander and keeps insisting he go away . She's fine. Likes being stranded on a cliff. She'll just hang around there waiting to die. Maybe her father will recover from his "madness". Not likely. Obviously madness runs in the family. Nevertheless the hero keeps trying to coax her down. Why? LEAVE HER THERE! She's an idiot and her father is deranged. You do not want to have children with this woman. But he's been in prison for 10 years so his dating skills are a bit rusty. And talk about coincidence. Her father was his lunatic torturer. Gave it 2 stars because it's a dnf and for all I know she grew a brain somewhere along the story. However you couldn't pay me to finish it to find out.

Along the way, Tierney rescues a damsel in distress, Lady Rosamond de Warenne, daughter of his sworn enemy, John de Warenne. Rosamond reviles her father for abandoning her in a cave to die and plots with Tierney to make her father pay for his many sins with the ultimate weapon of revenge... A marriage between herself and Tierney. What starts out as a marriage of mutual convenience, and a weapon of revenge, slowly changes as Tierney and Rosamond are swept away by their passion for each other. As friendship, admiration, respect and feelings start to grow and develop between the pair, they wonder if they will be able to hold on to the truly special bond that they share. Or will the lust for revenge and the consequences thereof tear them apart? I LOVE these two characters, Tierney and Rosamond. They have so much heart, warmth and depth. I felt my fondness for them grow along with their fondness for each. Rosamond is brave, strong, compassionate and smart. Tierney is a born leader, fearless and protective, yet also loyal, gentle and kind. These two were truly made for each other. Knight was a "new to me" author, and she did not disappoint! This story was very well crafted with interesting characters and a fast-paced, riveting plot line. I am eager for the next book in the series and, now, would also like to go back and read the two books, that are prior to this one. *I received a complimentary ARC of this story in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

So with a plan in place, Tierney MacDougall is returning to Scotland along with what is left of his men. He comes across a fiery lass and is determined to save. To his surprise, he and Lady Rosamond de Warenne have a lot in common. Lady Rosamond de Warenne in order to help her twin, finds herself in a difficult situation, left in a cave to die. When she spots a huge Highland Warrior coming towards her. She defends herself as best as possible. This is a well paced story and I loved the development of characters. It is a Romance that has a lot of substance. You find yourself rooting for these two characters from the very beginning. I just wanted a little more to bring it all together, but I still loved it! I fell in love with Tierney and was very proud of Rosamund.

Who could possibly punish his daughter for disgracing his name by leaving her in a cave with few supplies?  Lady Rosamond knew her father, John de Warenne, to be unstable.  She had been the strong one, the twin who protected the other.  In this situation, she is doing the same.  Her twin, Loretta, had been secreted away to a convent.  She is enceinte.  If her condition were discovered she would be severely punished by her father and her reputation destroyed.  Rosamond preferred to receive said p Who could possibly punish his daughter for disgracing his name by leaving her in a cave with few supplies?  Lady Rosamond knew her father, John de Warenne, to be unstable.  She had been the strong one, the twin who protected the other.  In this situation, she is doing the same.  Her twin, Loretta, had been secreted away to a convent.  She is enceinte.  If her condition were discovered she would be severely punished by her father and her reputation destroyed.  Rosamond preferred to receive said punishment. If word got around about the de Warenne twins, she would own up, it was her, not her sister. But she had no idea the punishment meted out would be so extreme.  There was no way down from the cave.  She had nothing with her to coil or climb over the side of the cave and down into the water. She was forced to consider death if her father didn’t come back for her. She was determined to find some way out of this pickle.  Her miracle came in the form of Tierney MacDougall. Tierney MacDougall, now laird of his clan, had just been released from the Tower of London, after excruciating torture.  He never gave up hope while there.  With a promise he’d be loyal to the English king, as his own father had been, he is released to return home and be laird of the MacDougall clan. He is eager to get back to Scotland and his castle, Dunstaffnage.  Would his men still be loyal to him?  Perhaps, they think he took sides with the English king. Both Rosamund and Tierney are heroes in their souls—both are noble.  They also have a grudge against John de Warenne.  Tierney would very much like his head, but he must tread carefully.  Their problems and challenges come from John de Warenne, not their attraction to each other.  Each are attracted to the strength of the other.  Rosamund quickly comes to love the man who saves her life, not once, but many times. If you enjoy plenty of action, with a bit of magic, and honorable love which surmounts evil in a Scottish setting, you are sure to enjoy Eliza Knight’s The MacDougall Legacy series.

Absolutely loved this book. Read it a part of a novella series and then picked up the extended version once it was released. Eliza Knight never disappoints and although I may say that all the time, its an honest review all the time. Its a love story that takes off rather rapidly, but when you read and get to know the characters, they do make you believe the attraction was a destiny as neither would be foolish enough to leap right in otherwise. The struggles in the story were as expected, and highs were great as well. There were a couple twists that keep you interested and the chemistry between the two can not be denied and is a delight to read. Eliza writes such beautiful intimate scenes, Ive read her steamy ones, and the endearing ones, and she is never lacking for just the right amount of "oh yes" in each of her stories. Again, this story line was no disappointment. Entertaining story with a bit of humor in the H/H! Thanks again Eliza Knight for gifting us another masterpiece!!!

As the responsible one, Lady Rosamond de Warenne took the blame for her sister's actions, knowing that her very unstable father could possibly kill her pregnant twin. Rosamond's punishment was to be abandoned in a cave, far above the sea, with no chance of escape. Tiernay, having been imprisoned by the evil John de Warenne, rescues Rosamond and the adventurous romance begins. This story was brilliantly written. I was 74% of the way through this book when I had to stop reading and take a shower. in the shower I realized there was no plot to this book. literally none. event happened that were completely unrelated. the "climax" (can we really call it that?) went off without a hitch, with little effort from our hero. don't know anything about the heroine except her father is an asshole. I can't believe I finished reading this. For The Bruce Confined in the Tower of London prison for ten years, a Scotsman finds himself released when his father dies and makes him Laird. On his way home to Scotland, he rescues a young woman imprisoned in a cave, the daughter of his jailer. Are his feelings for her really love, or for revenge against the man who put him in hell? Good story for an afternoon read.
