"Sick" is one of those stories that pulls you in and immediately puts you in the terrifying shoes of the characters. As a parent, and frankly even if I weren't a parent, this book is woven so delicately and interestingly that you forget it's fiction... and that is haunting! Brett Battles has a poetic way with words, and a way of telling stories that makes you want to curl up with his books in front of a fireplace and read cover to cover in one night. Brett Battles has a poetic way with words, and a way of telling stories that makes you want to curl up with his books in front of a fireplace and read cover to cover in one night. I was really happy that "Sick" was the first in a series because I didn't want the story to end. Daniel Ash is a very relatable, and sympathetic character and Battles' has a knack for creating realistic, complicated characters. "Exit 9" picks up on the cliff hanger where Sick left off, and I love this book as much as the first. There is enough action, pulling of heart strings, and continued character development that continually has you cheering and biting your nails. Battles doesn't cut corners in any of his books and I respect him for that and it's made me a huge fan of all of his books. "Pale Horse" continues the thriller that grabbed your attention in the first book and is equally exciting. I've read some really great dystopian/apocalyptic books and this series is right up there with the best of them. I was pleasantly surprised that the author of my favorite books, "The Jonathan Quinn" series, could take me on this dark and thrilling roller coaster ride. Battles seriously leaves you breathless, intrigued and draws you in from the first page. I highly recommend this series.

End of Civilization If you like end of the world stories, however, zombies ain't your cup of tea. You are wanting something different than EMO stories. Well you have to read this series. Characters you can sink your teeth into. Story line that is different from others you may have read. End of Civilization If you like end of the world stories, however, zombies ain't your cup of tea. Awesome series I started the first one and haven’t put them down yet! They probably could have been combined into half the the number of books but it doesn’t change the fact that the story keeps you reading more. I’m ready for the next one!
