Protecting Joselyn is a fairly standard romance novel, but that's not a bad thing. The characters are interesting and I like their relationships to each other (by and large), including Rover's family and Joselyn's family. It's predictable, but well written, like the romance novel equivalent of comfort food.

I really enjoyed the overall story and main characters. I did not like the villain's crappy poetry and perversion. There was some good banter and great romantic dialogue. I couldn't give it 5 stars because there were several minor editing issues (extra words in sentences, wrong words (fort rather than forth) etc. and the writing style could be confusing at times. Good first novel for this author. Some language but no sex. I really enjoyed the overall story and main characters. I did not like the villain's crappy poetry and perversion. Maddox (aka River) & Joselyn's story is full of twists & turns! There's a mysterious stalker - who may or may not be who Joselyn thinks it is. There's a lot of heart & chemistry between these two, even when they're fighting. LOL AND quite a few LOL moments - sometimes when they're fighting! ;) For other natural editors - I will warn you there are a few hiccups there, more so in the beginning than as the story progresses, but push through as I feel like the story is worth it. Good This book was enjoyable but just too long. I loved the characters, the story and the writing itself, but after the halfway point I skimmed through some of the filler. Not a fast read for me.

The friend is a ex-SEAL himself, so he knows him from that. As he wasn't expecting to retire he had made no plans on what to do after he turned in his signed papers. Helping his friend was what he needed. However, what he gets is a spirited woman who will do things her way but will be reasonable at times. She has been through hell since being chased by a psycho but now that he's dead she should be fine...however someone's still after her. But Who? He can do many things, but fighting a ghost is not one of them. How can they find and get this mystery to stop? However, when things start to heat up with our hero and heroine, will be the time to pounce? The main characters you get to know and like. I found the heroine to have an easy connection with and can understand why she acts the way she does. Same goes with our hero although the relationship stuff he fights. The plot is good and you can understand how crazy the guy is. Ahhhh, but I'm not going to tell you who it is...you'll have to read to find out. This is well worth the read.

In Protecting Joselyn, Mattox (codename Rivers) after retiring from his Seal Team, is asked to "protect" Jocelyn from a sicko stalker! As the threat grows more dangerous and sparks fly between them (it is afterall a romantic suspense novel) the menace is palpable and frightening! Feeling safe with Mattox and her "Betty" on her hip, Joselyn must face the "the Gardener" head on! Tearworthy, hormone spiking and very romantic, Joselyn and Mattox's story was wonderful and deeply satisfying! The author is a master storyteller not to be missed! This novel is exquisite! I loved it!

This book checked off many of the boxes on my favorites list. It has suspense, a little romance, a military hero,a twist, and even touches on one the Witness Protection program, but the book was missing that “It” factor. I didn’t feel the chemistry between River and Joselyn. Plus, there were holes in the Detective/Security work, which really made the plot unrealistic. The whole situation revolving around mailing the package to Joselyn secret hideout was just dumb. Come on,the Security Guard couldn’t have been that stupid to not at least been a little suspicious of a stranger. With the situation being so dangerous for Joselyn (an innocent woman that was once under federal protection and now getting threatened) why didn’t the police detective investigate her neighbors within the gated community to ensure none of them were a possible threat. To me that would be standard police operation. Like a said, the plot just wasn’t that realistic.

Good story, tons of feels I had mixed feelings reading Protecting Jocelyn. I had a hard time starting it initially, because the writing seemed a bit stilted and not naturally flowing. The added suspense from the stalker (though I had it figured out early on) added to my need to read it in one sitting. There were a couple of missed editing /proofreading opportunities, but they didn't detract to much from the story. Overall this is absolutely worth the read. Though the writing style isn't my favorite, the story itself carries the rating. Be warned though, if you are looking for a sexy, steamy SEAL read, this isn't it. Protecting Jocelyn is a clean read with no sex (kissing only) and no swearing (maybe 5 minor curse words in the whole book).

Sweet, slow burn I initially considered this a solid 4-star read. First, this is a clean romance, which I did not expect. The heroine is no sex-starved, hormone-crazed woman; she respects herself and the promise she made her father. She also (mostly) rises above the TSTL flaw. The hero gets points for respecting her and her promise, too, by not coercing or otherwise badgering her to sleep with him. The technical details regarding military service and weapons seem correct. Hmmmm This book was not great but it wasn’t bad either. It was sweet that Joselyn kept a promise to her father and it was nice that Maddox respected it. But I had few problems with this book. To me there was no real sense of time. And how they fell in love it felt more like a friendship. I don’t know it didn’t exactly give me butterflies. Not to mention this needed editing badly. I thought the book was good, it held my attention, but it did flow a bit slow, with some repetitiveness to some things. I kinda liked that it was clean, made me respect the heroine for her sticking to her decisions on no sex, but showing that she does have sexual desire for him but is able to keep her head & stop. Maddox and Joselyn are great together when they finally admitted their feelings for each other. However, some security works are unrealistic like slamming a person in line for an autograph just because he/she was staring at the author. Editing was poorly done. But I like the twists and turn of the story.
