This set is a great way to meet and follow Alex Vane. He is one journalist you will want to get to know. He is cocky and snarky and ever so lovable. He is also very bright. It is just an excellent series. Fuller has become one of my new favorite authors. He has a great way of humbling his over the top egocentric Vane. But even with his funny ways, he is a very well defined character. He is like someone you know will pull them out of the danger they are in. And are they ever in danger! Take the time to meet Alex Vane and Fuller. You will be happy to have this team on your book shelf.

People binge-watch TV series. This boxed set made me binge-read the Alex Vane series. Beginning as a simple journalistic procedural with a murder mystery as the worm in the apple, we watch a court reporter find himself in the middle of private economic dramas after 9-11, become a target of a hired assassin, and use his freshly out-of-jobs’ reporter friends to work the story and find the truth behind a wrongly accused man’s case. Watching all the smaller dramas working in the shadow of the huge impact of 9-11 was intriguing and fresh. The surprise ending was wicked! Then the second book adds in the family knot, all twisted and tight in the solar plexus, driving the life of the main characters. Add in a high-tech threat my geek-girl heart loved, the journalist’s struggle to catch the story-wave in our digital-news age, and the race who find out who “Booth Buy” is, the reader drives on to find the main characters in a psychopath’s scary clutches, and is fascinated because the guy’s nuts for a reason. Alex is no hero, just a journalist doing his job, ordinary all while being persistent and professional and caring about the women (and men) in his life and dealing with big questions, like fatherhood and the horror of his parents' death ... but still professional, though torn by the intersection of his pro-journalist life with his private-nightmare life. All the while running from the psychopath. He comes off with perfect pitch, to my mind. In the third book, ten days in and out of Las Vegas, Seattle, and the Nevada/Idaho-border Duck Valley Reservation, Alex takes quite a ride when, as a newshound with an ancient hard disk to decipher, the CIA after him, a news site to run, and a wife he still loves looking at divorce, he keeps the reader flipping pages fast. Caught by the chilling, and true, older CIA Mockingbird Project story at the heart of the book, a story so in tune with our times in mid-2017, I kept turning pages. What’s it like to be on the No Fly List? What’s it like to try to outrun the CIA? What’s it like to be a journalist who only wants to tell the truth? What’s it like to be waterboarded? As a journalist, how do you deal with the hard war between media truth feeds and public frisson hunger? A boxed set to keep on the nightstand bookshelf for sure.

What a Story!! I really enjoyed these 3 novels. The characters are well defined and I think well represented with all their foibles and strong points mixing into a believable person. The novels are intense and show a different side to our country, one that most of us of don't want to believe. Maybe we need to wake up. I know with all of the hatred and inability to openly communicate with one another and allow for differences of opinion we need to see what can happen. I will continue reading this What a Story!! I finished the entire set of books, 1-3. Overall, am enjoying the series. There are some moments where I am not sure how believable it is, but the storyline is intriguing Alex Vane starts out as a reporter for a newspaper and in the books he gets caught up in intrigue.

An interesting flawed protagonist Gives some insight into modern media that I might never have even thought of, in a fast moving story with hope that technology can be used for good. Will look forward to more from this author.
