    Useless, maybe harmful The advice can be summed up as "just stop feeling depressed". The author even says at one point to be happy you're sane enough to follow his advice and just start thinking happier thoughts... So I guess if we can't just snap out of depression we must be insane. Comforting. The book is padded with a section on how to tell if you're depressed. I didn't read this book to find out if I'm officially depressed, i read it to hopefully get advice. I'm not sure the author understands the symptoms he mentions. In one breath he says that a symptom of depression is not enjoying doing the things that you used to live doing. Then a few pages later, apparently the solution to depression is to do things you enjoy doing. Which would be... Nothing. This book could also benefit from a proofreader. Sometimes the author uses the wrong word, for instance. If you're depressed, stay away from this book. The message is basically "think happier thoughts". We've heard that before, it doesn't help.

    Thought-provoking and effective There are a lot of books like this on Amazon, but not all of them are as well-written. While there were a few grammatical errors in this book, you won't find another book that covers the breadth of major problems, symptoms, causes, and solutions, to depression and that do so in such a clear and concise manner. In a little under an hour you can complete this book and be on your way to understanding and tackling depression.
