    I read this book at the request of my father, who was interested in it because of a local history connection. I don’t generally read war history so I’m not sure how it stands up in that regard to other books about WWII. But some of the first hand details and descriptions were charmingly vivid. The book includes copies of authentic letters that are somewhat interesting to read. I also appreciated the care with which the book was tended as it is obviously compiled by a relative, so this is also a I read this book at the request of my father, who was interested in it because of a local history connection.
