Aquaman 22 - 4 out of 5 stars Aquaman : H2 point O - 3.5 out of 5 stars What I liked : The story bought back Dark Water from the New 52 run and added some twists , the plot was almost reminiscent of the 1982 classic sci-fi movie The Thing [which if you haven't seen , then go grab a DVD and watch it ASAP]. However the book didn't stay on that topic for too long and ended up painting Aquaman with moral ambiguity , and even giving hints of a possible fracture in his relationship with Mer Aquaman 22 - 4 out of 5 stars Aquaman : H2 point O - 3.5 out of 5 stars What I liked : The story bought back Dark Water from the New 52 run and added some twists , the plot was almost reminiscent of the 1982 classic sci-fi movie The Thing [which if you haven't seen , then go grab a DVD and watch it ASAP]. However the book didn't stay on that topic for too long and ended up painting Aquaman with moral ambiguity , and even giving hints of a possible fracture in his relationship with Mera . The art was decent with the pencils drawing more attention than the colours for me , the back ground colours gave a dull feel to the book in fact. What I didn't Like: Although the book tried to give a homage to the movie "THE THING" it failed to truly generate the horror and surprise element , which granted is always going to be a tough work for a 4 issue comic book . That said towards the end even the mystery sort of evaporated as the reveal became very predictable . I did also state before that I'm not a very big fan of the background colouring , meanwhile I also felt that Scavenger's involvement in this book was very underwhelming and even the finale seemed lacking in terms of action. Verdict: To be very honest , this was an average story , Dan Abnett however did try to do new things which is welcome sadly it didn't really click and had it not been for the final issue in the story arc I'd have rated this lower than what I eventually did . The moral greyness in Aquaman was sort of refreshing . I'd say try to borrow this rather than buy it

I'm glad that Aquaman is painted in a moral grey this issue. At some point he has to make a call to save the lives of people and is later called out on the morality of his decision. I think this is something important that needs to be incorporated in stories more often. Heroes aren't perfect. They can make mistakes and decisions that can sometimes be hypocritical. Mera serves as a lifesaver (literally) and the voice of reason near the end of this storyline. Really enjoyable issue that makes you I'm glad that Aquaman is painted in a moral grey this issue. I'm mature enough to admit when I'm wrong. The conclusion to this arc very well may have some lasting effects moving forward. And the relation between Mera and Arthur is still one of the better relationships in the book. I'm mature enough to admit when I'm wrong. I waited too long to jump back into this, but I liked the Mera stuff and the way this found a way to make this Thing-esque storyline linked back to her fears about her future with Arthur.

I really liked the Dead Water arc but I was disapointed Aquaman didn't explore this water planet. Missed opportunity that I hope they explore later.
