She is on a mission to fly in Task Force Scorpion but soon things go completely wrong when the plane is sabotaged. Mack must decide whether or not he can trust Marley but will the attraction between the two of them cloud his judgement? When Marley's daughter's life is put on the line what will she decide to do? This is another awesome book in this series that leaves you wondering what is going to happen next and whether they will finally find Mr.J and rescue Caroline. This book is full of action from the beginning to the end and with Mr.J's "super soldiers" out there you never know what Task Force Scorpion is going to come up against. Although you figured out who one of the traitors was right away, Reaper's background still left some mystery and you weren't sure what side he would end up on. When Mack and Marley ended up separated from the rest of the group you knew the sexual tension between the two was going to explode and that it did! I loved how apologetic Mack was to Marley over what happened as it was not full of romance but given the setting what do you expect. I liked how Marley was tough and didn't give up or whine with what she was going through. She knew that she had to get home for Maddie but things didn't look good for a long time and then things went straight downhill when her cell received messages. Mack was pure alpha male but at the same time he was guarding his heart over the loss of his wife and then his relationship with his son. He knew he would have done what he could for the two of them but his job came first. I couldn't imagine the loss he felt and I think that's why his wife never told him what was going on as she didn't want him to choose. I really thought a few things were going to be different after the "blow up" and my guesses on what was going to happen were completely different than what really happened which was awesome! Although the ending seems to give closure on one aspect there is still another 2 parts that need to be dealt with and I can't wait to see how the author is going to tackle those two things. I liked the end how both thought they were in the wrong and needed forgiveness from the other. The book ended awesome with the two and I really hope that we get to see more of Marley working with TFS in the future!

We find out more about the Colonel in this book than we have know before. Marley is new to us in this book but I immediately like her from the beginning. We'll have to see how it works out. Which is fantastic and he finally has a viable lead on the elusive Mr. J a traitor but also someone who has been tinkering with a serum that could make lives very dangerous if they are released. But when the plane they are in on the way to the Congo is bombed it will take the entire team to survive and find Mr. J and his minions. But when sparks fly between Mack and Marley will they act upon it or fight it? I have to agree that this book goes straight to the top of my favorites in the series as Mack's background is finally revealed. Marley Mitchell is a top pilot for the Air Force C-130 but when she is betrayed by her co-pilot and they have to bail out will she be able to overcome her fear of heights and can she possible understand why the team wants to find and stop Mr. J? But then again there is a growing attraction between her and Mack plus she needs to get back home to her little girl can she get out of the jungle alive? When another person arrives at the compound who also wants Mr. J will the team be able to let what he has done to all of them go or will they defy a warlord? This is a action packed, non-stop pedal to the metal book that will take you through the jungles of Africa to find the ex-CIA spy who has let greed take over and now that they've found him what will they do? What about the other "team" can they be retrained? Most of the questions will be answered but there's still a opening for the next book to tease you with.

This is an action-packed, non-stop adventure with thrills, suspense and steamy romance in this first book of the Operation Mayhem series – a spinoff of from the Men of Mercy series. What I liked: * I was grabbed in the beginning and my attention was held till the end * I liked the characters * I was left wanting to read more of the series to find out about the super soldiers, Caroline and who will get their story told next * The bad guys got their just desserts What I Questioned: * Insta-lust acted upon when hot, sweaty, without contraceptives and on the run. * Why it took so long for them to tweak to the phone * Wondered what happened to the traitor * Wondered about the dynamics of the team and how realistic they might be – and what they would really be like with a woman not from their military discipline thrown into the group. All in all this was a fun way to spend the day today and I would like to thank the author for the ARC – this is my honest review. 4 Stars

I am highly addicted to The Men of Mercy series, like I crave it like coffee, addicted. I know it's under a new series title, but honestly, it doesn't seem like it. It's action cover to cover, with diabolical twists flying everywhere that keep me dropping loud f-bombs. Mack is highlighted in this one, but all my favorite boys are back as entertaining, and lethal secondaries. Lindsay Cross is straight up brilliant, as once again, I was instantly transported to their world, with my heart racing cover to cover, like I was in the Congo. Although loads of questions are answered, there is still a biggie left, so hopefully, there's another sexy, action packed story coming out in the very near future, as I will be waiting seriously impatiently! Bottom line, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

He is initially irritated with her, but later realises that it is because of how she makes him feels that accounts for these feelings. Marley is a single mother of a nine-year old, Maddie, who is now staying with her parents while she flies in a group of special operators and only expects to make a quick flight but things go south when her co-pilot double crosses them. While in the jungle she quickly realises that Mack is very commanding and has an aura of power that appeals to her. She tries not to be the damsel in distress and show that her SERE training comes in handy when she is with this intimidating bunch of operators. However, while in the jungle she has a secret that she has yet to reveal, which could put everything she feels for Mack at risk!! Great read, and I can't wait for more:) I received an advance copy for an honest review:)

“There seemed to be a reason to their mayhem and madness.” Detachment Commander Mack Grey is on a mission to bring justice and vengeance to his team. His target is Jack Mankel, and he will not stop until he sees the man bleed a slow death. Task Force Scorpion (TF-S), his team, made up of the best of the best in his field and trained by Mack himself, are ready to board a plane to the African Congo for a HALO drop. They have received intel that Mankel is hiding in the deep of the Congo where he thinks he is too hard to be detected. Marley Mitchell is the Air Force pilot that will be flying the plane that will drop these men over the vast jungle. It is an easy mission for her and she hopes it will go fast and smoothly in order to get home to her daughter. “As a captain in the Air Force with ten years of service under her belt, Marley had done her fair share of missions. She’d flown in and out of hot zones delivering supplies to troops in need and sometimes transporting the wounded when the Army’s helicopters weren’t enough. She’d seen death and hope, and every day she left her daughter at home, she did it out of love for her country.” She is a single mother that was widowed when, Maddie, her daughter was just two years old. This is the last year of her current contract and the civilian life is looking more and more appealing as her daughter grows and needs her more. “More and more she longed to be home with Maddie. Each mission seemed to take a little bit longer than the last. She had another year left before her contract was up for reenlistment, and although Marley hadn’t talked to anyone else about it yet, she’d already decided she was getting out of the military and going back to civilian life.” Neither Mack or Marley have any intentions of finding love ever, let alone on this mission. What should have been a simple fly over, drop, and turn around mission, suddenly becomes so much more. Markel has always been able to be one step ahead of the team and this is a new low for him. The copilot has set a series of traps or road blocks in hopes of fumbling the team. When the plane has to be abandoned by the team, including Marley, in the depths of the Congo things get a whole lot messier for them. It is apparent that both Marley and Mack have more than platonic feelings towards each other but with the chaos of the botched drop and their pasts looming over their heads, they fight the idea that they could possibly find any kind of relationship between themselves. “He wanted to explore her depths, find out her secrets. Confusion swirled through him. He shouldn’t care about her personal life. He had a mission to complete. This little- okay huge- obstacle had sidetracked his plans, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t finish what he’d started. Marley Mitchell was a temptation, no doubt about it, but he didn’t have the time or room in his life to contemplate a relationship with a woman. Distractions equaled danger.” “Marley had mapped out her next fifty years. And then a random roadside bomb had destroyed all of it. She’d been silently struggling to find her footing ever since, carving out her new existence as a single mother, remapping and redirecting her life plan. And that new plan did not have a place for a man. She hadn’t even really considered the opposite sex until Mack Grey. And, why him? He was overbearing, egotistical, and obviously though his word was law. He acted too quickly for her liking, not taking the time to fully analyze a situation before making a decision. Rash decisions led to death. Her father had hammered that fact into her head since childhood, and her commander had done the same. But this guy and his team jumped out of airplanes. They climbed hundred-foot trees and dangled from ropes with as much ease as she used a crosswalk. But those rash decisions had also saved her life more than once. There seemed to be a reason to their mayhem and madness… With this man, the risk might very well be worth the reward.” What follows is a hot steamy, and not just the heat of the jungle hot, journey to finding love again even when all the odds are set against your favor. I really enjoyed how there wasn’t just the Alpha male hero in this novel. There very much was a strong Alpha female in Marley that was endearing and quite entertaining to read. This is my first Men of Mercy novel that I have read and I have to say I am definitely hooked and wanting to read the others.

Colonel Mack Grey has been known throughout this series as the one capable of making the hard decisions and not worrying about his orders being questioned. He’s hard and unyielding, but that’s gotten him and his team far on their dangerous missions. Since we're talking about the boss of bosses here, I expected Mack’s story to be really awesome. I feel a little disappointed. Let’s start with that darn “Mr. J" (the villain). So far, he is the most duplicitous antagonists I’ve read in a romance to Colonel Mack Grey has been known throughout this series as the one capable of making the hard decisions and not worrying about his orders being questioned. He’s hard and unyielding, but that’s gotten him and his team far on their dangerous missions. Since we're talking about the boss of bosses here, I expected Mack’s story to be really awesome. I feel a little disappointed. Let’s start with that darn “Mr. J" (the villain). So far, he is the most duplicitous antagonists I’ve read in a romance to date. Seriously, “Mr. J" is always, ALWAYS five steps ahead of Mack's team, and thus is ALWAYS twice, or triple times prepared for any outcome. He must also be charming and smooth AF because he has the most astonishing ability to bribe anyone at anytime, and convince them to turn traitor. And I’m not referring to the those he’s spent years brainwashing. This is fiction, so I’m capable of suspending reality. However, sometimes “Mr. J's" machinations were out of the realm of believability and frustrating as hell. ******SPOILERS AHEAD***** Anyway, the infamous traitor has gotten to the co-pilot assisting with the transport of Mack and the team to where they’ve tracked "Mr. J." They're now stuck in the middle of a jungle running for their lives because the co-pilot's betrayal left the plane to crash and if that didn't kill them, he also left a bomb. Geez!🙄 Being chased and under fire by guerilla soldiers doesn’t seem like the perfect time to get a romance or some sexy time going, but somehow Mack, and the pilot, Captain Marley Mitchell find a way…many, many times. When they finally meet back up with the rest of the team, Hunter accuses them of having sex because he can smell it. What?! 🤦🏾‍♀️Not that sex should be considered gross or anything, but eww! It was just an awkward scene altogether. I wasn't completely sold on them as a couple. It didn't feel right to me, but that's solely my opinion. Other readers may actually love them together. Maybe if they had met and gotten together under different circumstances, I would probably feel otherwise.🤷🏾‍♀️ Anyway, Marley gets accused of working with the enemy. Mack goes off and starts acting unreasonable. He could have simply read the messages liked she begged him to, allowing him to see that her daughter’s life was being threatened. Not good enough though, according to Mack because she’s a liar and should have told him from the beginning. Anyway, they catch up to “Mr. J.” and some people are injured, mostly Mack. Of course, instead of having a much needed conversation, one of them walks away assuming they know what the other is thinking or will think.🙄 Again with the proofreading and editing. Its redundant for me to keep mentioning it, but these books have some serious grammatical errors and some editing issues. Example: It was already agreed upon what to do with Reaper's men after everything has been settled with the traitor. Later, in Mack's hospital room, they’re standing around arguing (again) about what to do with Reaper's men when Merc suggests to Mack the same thing they’d all agreed upon earlier?!🤦🏾‍♀️I compared both scenes to make sure I wasn't making a big deal out of nothing, but nope. It's clear that one of those scenes should have been deleted.

This is Colonel Mack Grey, and air-force pilot Captain Marley Mitchell’s story line. MERCY AND MAYHEM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty, Several of the characters were first introduced in the author’s Men of Mercy series. Told from dual third person perspectives (Mack and Marley) MERCY AND MAYHEM follows in the aftermath of sabotage against Colonel Mack Grey, and his elite Team of Special Ops warriors. As an Air Force pilot Captain Marley Mitchell has flown many missions but her latest mission to Africa finds our heroine, and her cargo fighting for their lives when the assignment goes all to hell. Colonel Mack Grey, desperate to avenge the death of his former teammate goes on the hunt for an ex CIA operative whose experiments with creating a super soldier has left many men shadows of their former selves. Searching for the last known carrier of the experimental drug lands Mack and his Team in the Congo jungles, trying to fight off armed guerrillas, starvation, rabid beasts and lust. What ensues is the building relationship between Mack and Marley, and the fall-out as the threats against the Team come from an unlikely source. MERCY AND MAYHEM is a story of betrayal and survival; friendship and revenge; love, misunderstanding and loss. The relationship between Marley and Mack is of the moment; a relationship based on circumstance and lust but issues of trust destroy any thoughts of a future, a future threatened by super soldiers, the Congo government and Mack’s inability to see the truth. The premise is engaging and energetic; the romance is hot and steamy; the characters are powerful, colorful and intense. MERCY AND MAYHEM combines romance, suspense, and military heroes in a dynamic introduction to the author’s OPERATION MAYHEM series. Copy supplied for review

Her assignment now was to fly a team of special ops across Africa for a HALO jump and then she could return home to be with her now 9 year old daughter. Colonel Mack Grey is leading his team of special ops known as Task Force Scorpion across the Congo deep into the jungles of Africa, hunting an ex-CIA operative turned traitor, Jack Mankel aka Mr. J. After dealing with tragic losses of those he loved most in his personal life, his only mission in life nowadays is to keep his team safe and intact and to seek revenge. Until this feisty no more than a hundred pounds of an Air Force pilot enters the picture. Something goes terribly wrong and in order to survive they must jump from the plane before it crashes, and Marley is forced to rely on Mack to stay alive in the jungle while being hunted by guerillas and trying not to be eaten by whatever predators lived in the jungles of Africa. Getting separated from the rest of the team and with enemies almost right on top of them they are forced to find cover for the night. As hard as they fight the connection between them they give in to the passion they feel. Mack realizes that his new mission is not only revenge but to also protect Marley. They find themselves falling for each other and Mack, even with his painful past, finds himself giving her his heart, and all his trust. The problem is, Marley has a secret, and when forced to make a decision it could destroy any chance for happiness as well as the entire team. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, you never knew what might happen next. This is my first book by this author but will absolutely not be my last, I have to go back and read this whole series, her attention to detail was spot on and I fell in love with these characters. I felt the pain that Marley was going through with her decisions and it made me think about what I would have done...Fantastic storyline, great book..Loved it!!

So when she sets out to do a HALO jump for a group of special ops she had confidence that all will go well. When she goes to let the ops group know that they were ready, she was knocked back a bit by the leader, Mack Grey. He incites an instant spark within her, that she hasn't felt in years or ever. Once she gets her sense back, she tells herself that she doesn't need to get to excited because after this mission she won't ever see him again. When an expected catastrophic accident happens, she will be tested in many ways. Can she keep up with the special ops and stand on her own? Can she fight her attraction to Mack? Can she finally open herself up to a man again? But most of all can she make the right choice when what she loves the most could be at risk. Mack Grey is a military man through and through. He has made a career out of it. The last few years he has been on a mission and it personal. He has sought after a man that betrayed him and his men in the highest form. Nothing and nobody has or will stand in his way to capture this man. That is until Marley came into the picture. Marley makes him think of things that he never really has before. He has an overwhelming instinct to protect her. Not to mention the urge to have her more than any other women he's encountered. Can he still protect Marley and finish the mission? Will his attraction to her cloud his ability to know when something is up? Is the most important mission to capture the man his hated, or is it Marley? This was a quick read and kept me hooked. Sometimes an instant connection can be a downfall of a book. But that wasn't the case in this book. Mack & Marley seemed to be a bit of kindred spirits. With similar career backgrounds makes them able to understand each other. This was the first book I have read in this series, and now I plan to read more. Lindsay Cross has this girl hooked on her books.

Mercy and Mayhem is the first book of Lindsay Cross I've read....and boy am I happy I came across her link by chance and decided to get it. It is the story of Colonel Mack Grey and Air Force pilot Marley Mitchell. A chance meeting as two people performing a role in the success of one mission is all it takes for their story to start. This is much more than a military romance though, it held elements of danger, mystery, action, intrigue and of course, lots of hot, steamy moments as well. When you add Mercy and Mayhem is the first book of Lindsay Cross I've read....and boy am I happy I came across her link by chance and decided to get it. This is much more than a military romance though, it held elements of danger, mystery, action, intrigue and of course, lots of hot, steamy moments as well. When you add two people who both have been scarred from their pasts and place them in a dangerous situation where all they can rely on is each other despite their distrustful natures, you are given an explosive story full of heat, conflict, danger, plost twists as well as lots of angst. Both characters were written in depth. Though meeting them in this time in their lives, we get to see their past and the events that shaped them as well. That definitely added immensely to the story and how each character came to be how they are. I loved that both H and h are trained, experienced and though not of the same level, the respect they showed each other is evident. I loved meeting an h that was also tough as nails. Despite being faced with all that extreme situations and surrounded by oure testosterone, she manages to hold her own ground. I loved meeting a tough-as-nails alpha H who also knew how and when to show his compassionate side. Their story isn't easy, it's complicated, it's conflicted, there are secrets, lots of doubts and distrust all over, add a lot of heat and intense chemistry and you get an explosion of feelings all the way through, til the last page. I loved Mack and Marley's story so much. I read books to experience the world in them and this served that purpose 100%. I cannot say enough good things about this book. If you like romance, alpha males, stubborn females and a lot of conflict mixed with a chemistry so strong, you feel the burn through the pages, then this book is for you.

5 stars Mercy and Mayhem is part of the Men of Mercy series and number 1 in the Operation Mayhem books by Lindsay Cross. I have read a few books from this series now and have loved most of them – this one is definitely one of my favourites! One of the things that I love about this author is her ability to create such amazing scenes in my mind from her great descriptive writing. I honestly feel like I am right there along with her characters. I can visualise everything that is going on in the story. I also love that the women in her stories are a match for all the alpha males! Over a few books the boys have been desperately trying to capture Mr J and I desperately hoped that this would be the book in which they did it! They are still looking for Caroline after she was taken in place of her twin sister Nightshade. This is Mack Grey’s story! He has appeared in previous books and had always come across as bossy so I was looking forward to his story and getting to know him better and I am so glad he got his own book! I LOVED him!! Talk about swoon-worthy! He is older than the others that I have read about but that gave him this sexy mature edge to him! The scenes between him and Marley were off the charts HOT!! I liked that we also got to see a softer side to him and how he cared for and tried to protect Marley! I loved Marley’s fighting spirit. She wasn’t going to let the other guys get to her and she was going to show them how independent she could be! I liked the she still had a need to be protected by Mack. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t mind being trapped in a dark cave with him!! I am really looking forward to the next book in the series and finally finding out just what is going on in that lab!! If you are a fan of this series then you will love Mack’s story!! It’s hot, sexy and full of action!!

She has ten days before she will be home to see her daughter. When she gets on her plane for final check she see's him and freezes. There is something about him that draws her in, she hasn’t looked at a man that way since her husband's death. While in flight Marley is betrayed in a shocking way which leaves everyone's lives in danger. Marley is saved by Mack several times and each time you could feel the connection between them. Before her feet hit the ground, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and caught her. I’d say that’s the third time I saved your a$$ today. Not such a good rate for self-sufficiency. Mack is very irritated with Marley, he doesn’t have time to be protecting a female in the congo while trying to complete his mission. He needs to focus on his mission, not have a distraction. He is also struggling with trusting Marley, he needs to interrogate her and get some answers. Watching out for her slowed them down, which only pissed him off more. There is so much more to this great read. I loved these two, the bantering and stubbornness from Marley was great. Mack was a jerk at times but he grew on me quickly. Marley was always trying to be strong and prove herself but yet things would happen that would have me LOL. I have to say that this is my favorite from the series so far. We learn so much more about these two and find that they have a lot in common. I loved the ending and I look forward to reading more from Lindsay Cross. 1-click and get started today.

Mercy & Mayhem, by Lindsay Cross, is the eleventh book of the Men of Mercy series. This book falls into the following genres: Romance, Action & Adventure, War & Military. Mercy & Mayhem picks up shortly after Revenge River, the ninth book of the series. I personally did not read that tenth book in the series, Relentless River. The story line flows smoothly without any lapses leaving you, the reader, hanging wondering what you are waiting for to happen. It also is not rushed, it truly written at just the perfect pace to pull you into the suspense and adventure dynamic that this series is known for. Mack is a true leader; he was written as a strong lead while still having a soft piece hiding underneath that tough exterior. We learn more about Mack in this story and it shapes the man that we have come to know and experience. Yet, once pilot Marley Mitchell is thrown into the mix – in the Congo, of all places – the playing field is about to change in more way than one. I admired Marley's character. She is no blushing character and has balls of steel, yet all the softness of a woman, a mother. The dynamic between Mack & Marley is explosive and steaming! I continue to enjoy this series, Lindsay Cross continues to provide an exciting story with just the right mix of adventure, danger and romance.

It seems the author did not consult what is the actual amount of time needed for a person to black out at 35000 ft in the air (the answer is: two to three minutes, not 2-3 seconds). This set the stage for the rest of the book. Then the author created villains that only has one purpose: to mess with the main characters, instead of having his own goals (and the heroes were merely in his way). Not only does the bad guy have a way to get rid of the heroes, he has triple redundancy backup... First he bribed the co-pilot to sabotage the air system onboard, then to cause a crash (after the co-pilot jump with a parachute, of course). If that didn't work, the copilot ALSO left a bomb. If that STILL didn't work, the bad guy also sent goons to threaten the pilot's family so she had to somehow betray the rest of the team by sending her pictures of her family. Wait, what? How does the bad guy even know who's alive, much less she is? How does a simple cell phone get a data connection from middle of the jungle in Africa? How did the bad guy knew they're coming after him any way and managed to bribe the right pilot? How did that guy got a bomb to his co-conspirator onboard a military plane, but left it in a place it could be seen? WTF?! Where did that guy jump? Who's gonna get him in the middle of nowhere in Africa? WTF? Everything is just so "convenient" but logically made no sense!!! Turns out, it's all just a ploy to get the leader, "Colonel" Grey, alone with the sexy pilot, who get to make out like bunnies in some cave without setting out any security. Phooey. Sorry, this thing sounds sexy but to someone with a more logical mind, it's unreadable.

Mack and Marley are both dedicated military personnel, but Marley is also a mother and Mack is trying to get past his own demons. But in the jungles in Africa they must rely on each other and have to learn to trust each other. This is a fact paced page turning flying by the seat of your pants story. The characters were well written and extremely strong personalities. There are plot twists that I didn’t see coming. Grey’s men and he is ready to try and rescue a Senator’s daughter who was kidnapped and to get his revenge for the loss of Shane. Captain Marley Mitchell is flying the guys to their drop point and it is a typical mission for her and all she can think about is getting home to her daughter as fast as possible. The flight starts off as planned then something goes wrong and they find themselves stuck in the middle of the jungle with no way to communicate with anyone so they can carry out their mission. I love the intensity and pure alphaness of these Special Ops guys and I have a visual of each and every one of them in my head. Marley isn’t too afraid of any of the giants she is with on this mission and she makes sure they know it. Her feistiness and stubbornness are qualities I love to see in a strong female character. I will be going back to the beginning of the series to start reading and look forward to getting the back stories on each one of these guys. I can’t really classify this as a cliffhanger or a happily ever after but somewhere in between. I would recommend giving this book a try.
