Recipes seemed easy and simple. I appreciated the pictures of Chicago but would have preferred pictures of the dishes as well.

Given the title of this book, I was disappointed by its lack of authenticity as well as its lack of story. I was hoping that this book would orient readers around the history and culture of these recipes but found it did not provide any such information. For a free book, it is definitely worth a read if you're a beginner in the kitchen or want a basic introduction to what some Midwestern cuisine looks like. Higher Hopes I really did have higher hopes for this cookbook. Especially given its title. I don’t doubt that the recipes came out of Chicago but there’s nothing to really tell you what part of Chicago or any story behind each recipe. It is purely a list of recipes to try and hopefully enjoy. No doubt I will use a few of the recipes but I really was hoping for a little story behind the history of each recipe.

WOW WHAT A WONDERFUL BOOK! found on a free site, I loved every page. Some recipes look phenomenal, some meh, some not so much, but that's personal preference in any cookbook. PHENOMENAL PHOTOS INCLUDED. WOW WHAT A WONDERFUL BOOK! found on a free site, I loved every page. Yummy! Lots of interesting recipes and more than a few I want to try. Pizza dough maybe the first on my list.

Lots of interesting recipes. Some I'll try some a little too far out there for my taste Lots of interesting recipes. Some I'll try some a little too far out there for my taste

Nah. These are not Chicago recipes; some are not even Chicago based. Ethic foods? Pfffft! All it seems is the author’s grabbed some recipes from somewhere, placed “Chicago” or a suburb’s name with them, and claims this is a Chicago cookbook. I’ll stick with my authentic recipes in my private collection. Nice photographs of the city in this book, though.
