I’m giving this cookbook a rating of 3 stars. I was really disappointed in the recipes inside. They are all made from strange or hard to get ingredients. I don’t have octopus on hand to make Octopus Curry. One thing I did like was the enlarged pictures of the ingredients AND the final product. I’m grateful I got the opportunity to receive this cookbook through a Goodreads Giveaway! I also was given another cookbook by the same author. It had more recipes in it that I could actually make! I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. 4.5 / 5 When I entered the giveaway I expected it to be small and without photos, so I was pleasantly surprised when a huge, colorful book arrived. There are a ton of recipes in here, all with big photos and easy instructions. There's also a helpful index arranged by ingredient in the back. Recipes are boldly labeled gluten free, lactose free, and vegan/vegetarian. I would take half a star off for the recipes. There are some tasty looking ones, but some of them don't sounds too appetizing and I think that has to do with the LIGHT in the book's title. I also received a copy of Simple: The Easiest Cookbook in the World and the recipes in there seem more appealing (lots more meat!). I highly recommend this if you're like me and want quick recipes that you can master easily and modify for your own needs/tastes.

Interesting ideas, good photography (photos of the ingredients and one photo on the dish as prepared/served) and instructions (laconic and to the point, I like it!) All the raw fish dishes weren't for me personally and although hobby chefs *ought* to know about the possible dangers of raw fish, a general disclaimer or footnote wouldn't have hurt imo. Especially since this is the typical kind of book that beginners like to buy as well. With photos of the finished product but also of the ingredients, and calories included, this is truly an easy, breezy cookbook. Elisa - The Book Grocer Purchase Simplissime Light here for just $15!
