DeeDee knows that she needs to find some kind of work in Marietta and when Isaac Litton's younger brother Mark who has down syndrome takes a liking to DeeDee he offers to hire her to help care for Mark since he is always busy with work. DeeDee who doesn't really have any experience working with handicap still does a marvelous job with Mark with her efforts showing every day. DeeDee's gotten Mark to take up exercising by offering treats from the Copper Mountain Chocolate Shop, she's gotten him out meeting new people, approved his appearance and given him tasks that Isaac would never consider. All of this shows Isaac every day just how well DeeDee fits in his and his brother's lives. The Chocolate Comeback is the seventh book in the Love at the Chocolate Shop series set in the wonderful small town of Marietta, MT. While each book in the series features a different couple and can be read as standalones there are also mentions in the stories of previous characters for those that have followed all of the series. One of my favorite types of romance reads are when family such as children or in this case Isaac's younger brother are brought in and a relationship is formed around the entire family being meant for each other. In this case DeeDee seemed to be perfect for Mark as she's really the opposite of Isaac's overly cautious nature. The three together really made a great family which became obvious from the start. It was also nice to find a favorite previous character of mine, Sara Marie, get a lot of mentions in this story so I couldn't help but be a fan. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. For more reviews please visit https://carriesbookreviews.wordpress....

Those same people there for you when you falter...and can help lift you up. But the some things that can make the town wonderful...can also make it hard to be seen as different then what you were back in the day...And if you were distant, thinking you couldn't wait to get out of this small town and start your modeling career in NYC...Then coming back home, unemployed and all the stories you told of your "wonderful career" false, you might have to eat a lot of crow before things turn around. In this entry to Tule's Love at the Chocolate Shop series, we have a woman who thought she was too good for Marietta during school... always reaching for the stars as a model. As soon as her High School Diploma was dry, she was off to NYC.. Well, she did do a little of this and that but nothing like she thought she would. Time went by and with wrong decisions made, she comes back home to lick her wounds. She has no idea what to do and luckily one of her sisters needs her to help with her event planning business. During her stay there she meets Isaac Litton; he has relocated with his brother Mark. Mark is a higher functioning person with Autism. Mark lived with their mother for most of his life but when the mother found love again, Isaac wanted to let his mom have this second chapter with out any worries. He took on the responsibilities happily as he loved his brother. He decided Marietta was going to be their new home. Isaac works from home as a financial advisor to top tiered players. It has provided an excellent living and allowed him to assist with caring for his mom and brother. In Marietta, he needs to have help during the days with Mark so he can continue to provide for them. The problem is the day care Isaac is having Mark use... it doesn't seem to be a good fit. Mark, an adult, doesn't do change well and is having a hard time adjusting... In fact both of them are having a hard time adjusting to the new town and life... This is where our gal, DeeDee come in... she talks her way into a part time position helping with the Mark. Isaac is skeptical because seriously... she has no caretaker experience and seems way to out of place to do this position. Mark, however, has immediately taken to DeeDee and Isaac is now in a rock and hard place. He needs to have quiet time to do his work.... He had a huge blow up with the daycare center and Mark hates it there... And this DeeDee person has a way about her that both he and Mark cannot deny... Deedee becomes Mark's day worker and Isaac is shocked to see many of the improvements DeeDee has caused in Mark. But Isaac knows, working with Mark and all that his autism entails is not just Hocus Pocus and everything is perfect. Mark has triggers which when he becomes upset can cause serious physical harm to himself. In the past, he has become so upset it took days to calm him. Isaac worries and rightly so about Mark; he only wants what is best for him...but sometimes he worries he just needs to believe in DeeDee and how she has opened Mark's world. DeeDee also has awakened Isaac... and he is fighting these feelings he is having for her. She is everything beautiful, funny and good. But he also knows she was modeling in NYC...and if she gets an opportunity, he thinks she will go in an instant...after all why would she stay here in Martietta when NYC could be calling her back. This men DeeDee is experiencing shakes her to her core. She sees what a loving brother Isaac is to Mark. She also has seen how Issac regards her... how he tells her how smart and capable she is handling Mark and the events she took over for her sister. No one has ever made her feel worthy. She is drawn to Isaac and sometimes it confuses her. This story touches on the realities of Autism and Downs Syndrome. The Chocolate series has presented other characters in this community who are developing stronger independent lives with it. This continues to show what actions can help and how communities can include rather than exclude those with these needs. There was a full blown romance and we got all of the other characters of the town and this series touching base. There are more to come with stories which I sense will be real heart breakers before they get their HEA's. It is a great read in its own right but I thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with so many of the now familiar people and places who appear in these stories, regardless of who the author is. Having said that, I don’t think you need to have read any of the earlier books to still appreciate the brilliant writing, great characters and enthralling storyline in this novel. Sometimes you have to leave a place to appreciate how great it is and that was certainly true for Deirdre Cash (DeeDee). She left with the intention of becoming a famous model but discovered that life isn’t as glamorous or simple as she’d anticipated. She’s returned to Marietta much wiser but no longer employed. Her sister introduces her to Isaac Litton and his younger brother Mark, suggesting that DeeDee could be the person to help care for Mark, who has a learning disability associated with Down’s Syndrome, whilst Isaac is working. Reluctantly he decides to give her a chance. DeeDee finds it easy to relate to Mark and soon has him improving his diet, taking more exercise, improving his appearance and generally leading a more interesting and engaging life, getting to know others in the community, socialising and learning new skills. As the attraction between DeeDee and Isaac grows she’s given the opportunity to return to modelling. Will she return to her previous career or will she give their love - and Marietta - a chance? This is a delightful story, filled with humour, love and turmoil as Mark inadvertently brings Isaac and DeeDee together. There’s plenty of twists and turns along the way, potholes to be avoided on life’s highway en route to their happily ever after. The Chocolate Shop and its personnel play key roles in the story and it was great to read how DeeDee’s attitude to life in Marietta has changed as she reconnects with her family and others from her past. She even puts her previous experiences to great use for a good cause! As soon as I spotted this book was available, I requested and received a copy via NetGalley. I just couldn’t resist reading another book in this series, especially by this talented author. This is my honest review after reading it. I’ll certainly be looking out for more in this series or by this author in future!

Her modeling career is a joke and knows she needs to find a job to support herself. DeeDee meets Isaac and his Down syndrome brother, Mark and gets Isaac to hire her to be a caretaker for Mark. Isaac is always busy at his work at home job, and Mark needs supervision. Isaac doesn't think DeeDee is qualified and neither does DeeDee but she needs the money. Little did she know, she was making a life altering decision that day. She comes to love Mark and treats him with nothing but kindness and respect. DeeDee knows that everyone in her small hometown is watching her. THE CHOCOLATE COMEBACK is going to have you giggling out loud at the banter between Mark and DeeDee as well as Isaac. I love coming back to Marietta MT. It's like revisiting old friends and as soon as I start reading I'm instantly emotionally invested in all the townspeople. DeeDee goes out of her way to make Mark feel like everyone else. She gets him on a healthy diet and gets him to exercise and big brother Isaac can see the results. DeeDee is good to Mark as well good for him. DeeDee loves Mark and seeing him succeed, but she wants a man of her own like, her two sisters. She is lonely. When DeeDee's agent calls with a new modeling opportunity, she must decide what she really wants out of life. As much as Mark has grown as a man, DeeDee realizes she has grown too. Does she really want to go back to the grind and cut throat modeling that she thought was always her dream? Could she be happy in Marietta? When she puts together the town fashion show using the people who live there, it is a huge hit and makes her realize what she really wants. Now she just has to convince them all that she has changed. I'm so excited to continue this series. I have fallen in love with this small town and especially the chocolate shop.THE CHOCOLATE COMEBACK is a fun quick read that I read in a little more than one sitting.

The perfect mixture of short, sweet, cute, romance, chocolate love, diverse characters that are NOT treated as if it's the worst thing to be different, beautifully cute characters and great writing! I loved DeeDee and what she overcame but at the same time stayed true to her character. I loved mark, the little brother with Down Syndrom that felt very realistic to me and I loved how his character was build and supported throughout this story. Isaac... the male lead, the big btirher, the guy that took me a little while to get used to but he wasn't so real life in Many aspects that at the end I loved him even more for it! One of the biggest things I love about this series and this book is how there is this cast of characters, all from different situations, all in different places but they all work together. And i love how different diversity factors are brought into this series by including side characters that have some kind of special need. But I think never feels forced or as if it is not exactly as it should be to include that character with those needs at that moment. In this book especially I loved how DeeDee and marks relationship too first lead for most of the book! It gave all characters so much and added so much to the story and I loved how DeeDee and many other people treated mark! And I also loved that the author didn't romanticize Down Syndrom! She showed the hard and the lighter moments, she gave the view into how most people treat those with special need she and the other side of how people should and can treat special needs. And it just works. It fits and feels natural. Because not everyone accepts or wants to accept or accommodate special needs, some people can hardly handle people that's understand social cues let alone this experience that don't. So to me it makes perfect sense to include them in this kind of book, especially since the author didn't try to paint them as the bad guys, but simple shown those because that it's just how it is. This story just fits, it clicks, it works... It's a wondeful story, it's a great cute romance book and deserves all the readers, so go read it!

This series seems to be a good vehicle for closing out family stories within the context of a new series. This time it is Snopek's Cash family (see also The Chocolate Cure). DeeDee is the last of the Cash sisters without a man, and she also happens to be without a job. Like others in this series, she returns to Marietta to lick her wounds. Like her twin Maddie, she is rehabilitated through the book. Callous, cares only about herself DeeDee becomes "she feels too much and so protects herself" DeeDee. Isaac and Mark Litton were mentioned briefly in The Valentine Quest and now we get their story too. Mark has Down syndrome. He is not alone in this series, either. Love at the Chocolate Shop has featured several characters who have developmental delays or other things that make their everyday lives harder. Isaac (like Brant before him) is now taking care of his brother Mark and moves them to Marietta. Also like Brant before him, Isaac struggles and agonizes over allowing Mark to step outside some very rigid lines. DeeDee comes across as sweet and clueless for the most part if also rather self-centered. I have no idea how she survived even a month in the cutthroat world of modeling. When she starts helping with Mark, it's only a matter of time before she and Isaac hit it off. There isn't much in the way of steam here. It's a couple kisses and a lot of implied want. DeeDee's issues with Marietta and the implied issues with the people of Marietta were an underutilized backdrop to the story. I had the same problem with this book as I did with Melt My Heart, Cowboy in that issues of developmental delay are handled without any real medical or otherwise knowledgeable supervision. Somehow, just the mere presence of a nice person fixes a lot of things. I found that frustrating since it feels so very unrealistic. Both books feature a couple of meltdowns but paint them in a bit of a rosy glow. Overall, I like this book and DeeDee, Isaac, and Mark all touched me. There is some sadness for Chad and Cynthia (Cinderella's Cowboy) but there is a lot here that is very uplifting. This review is ©April 2017 by Monique N. and has been posted to Netgalley.

We saw both angles, that of the family member and that of an outsider with zero experience joining that family. While her first book in this series remains my favorite, I think this one gets so deep and made me want to be a better person. Deirdre Cash is trudging back to her hometown of Marietta, Montana in shame. Having run off to New York City to become a high fashion model, blowing off the local modeling agency and her family, she is forced to admit that she failed. Desperate for a job while she wallows in misery, she happens upon a god among men, Isaac Litton, and his noticeably disabled brother, Mark. Her sister prods her into becoming Mark's caregiver while Isaac tries to run his business, but DeeDee isn't sure she is the right person for the job. Isaac doesn't think so either. Mark is smitten though, and DeeDee can't help but fall in love with them both. But when her agent calls with a new modeling opportunity, DeeDee must decide if her true calling is in Marietta or NYC. It took a while for me to get on board with DeeDee as the heroine of this romantic comedy. She initially comes across as vain, spoiled, and selfish, all of which she most certainly was at some point in the recent past. And when she makes a joke about Mark at first glance, I was ready to throw my Kindle across the room. Only my love for Snopek's writing kept me going. I'm glad I did, because DeeDee underwent a massive transformation, and I loved every second of it. It was amazing to see her interact with Mark and truly believe in him. While Isaac was lovely and fun, this story was more about Mark and DeeDee. When she stands up for him against the town gossip, loudly and with gusto, I was literally cheering. It was truly inspiring. I am eager to read more about this lovely town and its people. Hopefully Roxanne will be writing another in the series, but if not, I won't hesitate to read the next few books. Especially whenever Portia's story is written. Can't wait! **I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.**

This book was such a delight to read. Not just because of the way DeeDee softens and changes throughout it, or the way Isaac slowly changes his view of many things, but because of Mark. Not just because of the way DeeDee softens and changes throughout it, or the way Isaac slowly changes his view of many things, but because of Mark. He’s such a great, positive representation of Down’s syndrome and, to be honest, his relationship with DeeDee was even more enjoyable to read than the romance between her and Isaac. DeeDee might not have any experience in much of anything – outside of serving coffee and modelling – but the way she connected with Mark and instantly started to fight for him was amazing. She doesn’t even have to change her whole personality in order to become a better person. In fact, she doesn’t change too much at all, but she treats Mark as a human being and he responds. The friendship between them was great – funny and touching and delightful. I loved them together. Despite Isaac seeming like the better person on paper – his success was driven by his need to care for his mother and brother, he instantly accepted Mark into his house and changed his whole life for him in order to let his mother enjoy her freedom after caring for Mark for so long – he’s also the one who has the most to learn. Not just because of the way he judges DeeDee on her looks and the way she dresses, but also how he sees Mark and the way he treats him. Luckily for him, Mark is eternally forgiving and despite her sometimes abrasive qualities, DeeDee is on his side too. The scenes where the three of them manage to bond are lovely, and the way Isaac slowly comes to appreciate the two most important people in his life in new ways was great to read too. Okay, if I’m honest, perhaps the way DeeDee lands in Mark and Isaac’s lives and seems to fit so perfectly without any real knowledge or training in Mark’s needs may be a touch too perfect. I also would have liked more about the troubles DeeDee has with people in Marietta. She really wasn’t the nicest person growing up and there’s obviously still plenty of friction around, but it mostly gets brushed aside because of everything else going on. Away from that, this was a lovely read. The romance is sweet and slow, but this is as much about building a family as chemistry and attraction. There is some sadness, yet on the whole it’s positive and upbeat and pure enjoyment, with chocolate and Marietta and family to make everything better. In all, it’s another great addition to this charming series and I look forward to seeing who is up next. (ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.)

One thing I liked about The Chocolate Comeback is the main female character. She isn’t perfect, she wasn’t a nice person growing up, she was the shallow, pretty girl, with few if any friends. Isaac, the lead male, new to Marietta, finds himself in need of a aid for his brother Mark, who has down syndrome. He’s not sold on DeeDee at first, but she inserts herself and she’s really good for his brother. Another thing that drew me to this story, is the way DeeDee treats Mark. She introduces him to new people, places, doing new things, building his self-esteem and expanding his comfort zone. The author wrote a really enjoyable addition to the Love at the Chocolate Shop series. Though this story is centered around the sensitive topic of special needs, it is a really fun read. The community of small town Marietta comes out in full force to support those that need it, welcoming new residents, and giving those that need a second chance, an opportunity for a comeback. The plot is paced perfectly as the trust and attractions grows. Very well written with playful, amusing banter between the characters. Deirdre (DeeDee) is the twin sister of Maddie who is in her previous book and she has returned home as her modeling career has not taken off the way in which she had hoped. Re-evaluating her life she meets Issac and his brother Mark. A push leads her into looking after Mark who has Downs Syndrome and making all of their lives better. Issac is more reserved, but DeeDee brings all of them out from the shadows and their preconceived ideas to new beginnings and new friends. DeeDee finds more than friends on her return home. She reconnects with family, finds a man and his brother she turns out to love, but more importantly, she finds herself. Loved this book.

So yeah, a 4 it is. I have to really praise Snopek on how she incorporated buttloads of characters that have appeared so far in the series. Before, I at most see authors using the characters from their specific books, with cameo-mentions that aren't really that memorable, but the way Snopek does it, she made them relevant. I mean, sure, I did realize Snopek was also extra-utilizing her characters from other series, but I'm saying she handled characters by other authors equally well imo. Gah I'm like so bad at explaining. Will elaborate it more if I have time. Deirdre Cash is returning home hoping no one notices she is broke and desperate for a job. When Deirdre becomes a care side for Mark, Issac brother, suddenly his world is turned upside down. Ms. Snopek has another Chocolate filled hit. I love the way she combines chocolate with exercise, a fashion show spotlighting everyone in the community and a life altering moment when Deirdre realizes all her dreams are in Marietta, Montana not New Year City. Highly recommend!

Reviewed at Keeper Bookshelf The Chocolate Comeback is another thoughtful, realistically believable story from an author that I’ve come to expect such emotional tales from. Without climbing onto my own soapbox, my son is physically challenged – the mind of a genius in a body what simply won’t work – so over the years we’ve come in constant contact with other people from that widely diverse “disabled community”, and in fact he now works with others helping them use adaptive computer equipment. I Reviewed at Keeper Bookshelf The Chocolate Comeback is another thoughtful, realistically believable story from an author that I’ve come to expect such emotional tales from. Without climbing onto my own soapbox, my son is physically challenged – the mind of a genius in a body what simply won’t work – so over the years we’ve come in constant contact with other people from that widely diverse “disabled community”, and in fact he now works with others helping them use adaptive computer equipment. I give you that little glimpse into our lives to say that this story is realistic. It’s well thought out and researched. It is believable and at times brutally honest. I’ve come to realize that there are three categories of humans, those that accept people no matter their differences, those that are afraid of what they don’t know and will do everything to tear down a person for their differences, and those that might have a touch of non-thinking cruelty but soon discover that people are people no matter their differences and come to accept and enjoy every person in their own right. We encounter all three of those in The Chocolate Comeback. And Mark’s portrayal and that acceptance reality is a major part of what made this story so believable for me – and enjoyable as well. DeeDee has returned to her hometown of Marietta holding onto all kinds of secrets. She’d left for the bright lights and career as a model on the runways of New York City. Only to discover that there are a ton of beautiful faces out there, and a lot that she assumed simply wasn’t the reality of the business. A pretty face is only part of what makes a top level model. She’s been turned down for jobs, dumped by her agent/ex-boyfriend, broke and in need of a major financial input and an attitude adjustment. She tries to pull off the just coming home for a break lie, but her twin sister, Maddie, sees right through her. And Maddie will be the one to put DeeDee in the path of her future – if she can handle it… or more importantly them. Isaac is a recent new resident of Marietta. He has his own business which he could run from home, if he had some help with his brother. Mark is an adult with Down syndrome, and until recently he’d lived with their mother. But Mom has a chance at love with a good man and Isaac has taken Mark in to do the care-giving for a loved brother with special needs. As is often the case, Isaac had no idea what their life together would be like and he’s floundering, making choices that may be logical but not practical. It will take some eye opening events to get Isaac to realize that he needs to rethink how he’s reacting to Mark… and perhaps make his own attitude adjustments. Watching a spoiled beauty who never will hold back her own opinion, a good hearted man out of his element, and a man who simply loves and accepts everyone was a delightful experience. DeeDee and Isaac get off on the wrong foot immediately, but Mark will be the bridge between them in many ways. And even though she may not have formal training, DeeDee instinctively knows how to work with Mark. First of all she treats him like anyone else with expectations of behavior and abilities. She speaks normally, not in that annoying sing-song voice that many people use. In so many ways, this isn’t a love story between DeeDee and Isaac – it’s a family love story. I won’t sugar-coat it, walking into an established family that includes a person with any type of special needs is not an easy, breezy piece of cake. And there will be mistakes, misunderstandings by everyone involved. But when the love is strong enough anything is possible. I always enjoy running into well loved characters in an ongoing series. Loved seeing Sara Marie play such an amazing part in this story. Oh, what a wonderful experience it was to finally see the town gossip get the take-down that was so long overdue. Have to admit I did a fist pump during that scene. I’ve used a lot of words to say that I completely enjoyed The Chocolate Comeback and would highly recommend this story, and the entire series. This heartfelt story is believable, realistic with characters you’ll come to appreciate and love. To Roxanne Snopek, well done on creating a beautiful family love story around a unique group of people. *I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Isaac Litton was at his wits’ end with all the finance work he’d been doing, plus making sure that his younger brother’s needs were me. Mark Litton wasn’t an easy boy to deal with, but he loved him so much, he’d do everything in his power to give him all his special needs. But could he trust someone as careless and enticing and as gorgeous as hell as DeeDee Cash? Just when I thought I have read everything about The Chocolate Shop series, just when I thought I’ve met all the beautiful people from Marietta Montana, here I am, silently crying for joy, for DeeDee Cash, Isaac and Mark Litton. My heat is overwhelmed. Never have I ever cried in a fashion show, never have I ever read a woman as aloof yet as passionate and dedicated as DeeDee, never have I ever loved a boy with Down Syndrome before, and never have I ever attended a fundraiser event as uplifting and emotional as the one I’ve just read. But here I am now, embracing the characters one by one, flaws and disabilities and all. If the water from Marietta Montana is indeed magical, the authors of Love at the Chocolate Shop are magical, too! I can’t help but to fall in love everytime I read a book about the characters of Marietta and Copper Mountain and the neighboring towns. The Chocolate Comeback is currently my favorite read and I got teary eyed reading about the other people participating in the fundraiser/fashion show. I love Mark Litton to bits. He was so adorable and caring and trusting in his own special way. Although at first, DeeDee wasn’t that into him and his brother, I was glad this snooty model had come a long way to becoming the ideal woman she was destined to be. Isaac, on the other hand, was understandably remote and antisocial at the beginning, given his responsibility to his bro. It’s a pleasure to see him squirm once in a while and see a little of his romantic silly side. I highly approved of DeeDee and Isaac’s budding romance: slow-burning, tension-building, hackles-rising and all those stuffs. Once again, Roxanne Snopek made my night. She’s my new fave Marietta author (I loved The Chocolate Cure!) and I couldn’t wait to read all the other books she’d written and the other stories in The Love at the Chocolate Shop series!

She ends up helping Mark improve himself and his life. A positive and heart felt journey. The Chocolate Comeback is exciting, entertaining, and well-written. Overall, I highly recommend it.
