All the feels! Made me shed a few tears. GREAT romantic chemistry! As always with this author, I was thoroughly immersed in the story and loved every minute of it.

I noped out of this at the end of the prologue. We get a scene with Kallie and Harrison making plans for doing a long distance thing while they're in law school. Only Harrison pops out with "not gonna be a lawyer, gonna become a cop" and Kallie says goodnight then cries and ghosts him because her father was a cop and he died on the job when she was thirteen. The story picks up five years later. So here's what we know: 1. After months of dating, Harrison doesn't know the single greatest trauma of Kallie's life. I'm guessing he doesn't know about her family at all because it's hard to talk about a person's parents and not have the "he died when I was thirteen" come out. And if you don't bother getting at how she feels about him and it then you're doing the whole courtship thing wrong. 2. Kallie is an immature wimp. They're graduating college for heaven's sake so it's not like they're kids. And she just ghosts the guy? Not even going to have the discussion, just cry and run off. This is not relationship material here. And the cover copy implies that she goes on not having the conversation for idunnohowlong in the rest of the story. 3. This is a monster negative motivation*. Which is realistic and all, but it also kills plot dead. So Peel is going to have to dance around inventing plot that doesn't rise naturally out of the character's background in order to give Harrison a shot at figuring out the secret she's too immature to talk about. So yeah. Nope. * Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

From the moment Harrison first laid eyes on Kallie, he knew she was the one for him. There was just something about her that drew him in and never let him go. Five years. It's been five years since Kallie disappeared from his life and Harrison is determined to not let her go again. She's keeping a secret and he needs to know what that is. Why did she leave him without a goodbye? What did he do? There is only one way to find out. He will do anything and everything in his power to keep her in his life. There will be no hit and run love this time. ;) Oh how I adored Kallie and Harrison! They were perfect for each other! Harrison is amazing and I loved that he never gave up. He was determined and knew what he wanted and that was Kallie. Honestly, Kallie never stood a chance! Haha. Oh how I wish this story were a little bit longer! I loved it that much! Ms. Peel has done it again! You see that 5 star rating up there? This hardly ever happens when it comes to novellas! But slowly, she is converting me back to novellas. She has a way of writing them to make them NOT feel like novellas... and I LOVE that! Oh! And my casting... *dreamy sigh* Oh how I love these too! Aren't they perfect?! <3

Oh heavens, I was all over the place with this one. I was laughing, grinning, crying, mad, grumbling at Kallie, grumbling at Harrison. Laughing, did I mention that already. Yeah let's just say that I had a permagrin the whole time, except when I was crying. I was kind of an emotional wreck at the end of this book. Too many personal memories that connected into the feelings and moments of this story that it brought on the tears. I loved Kallie and I love Harrison. 5 big ol Southern Stars! Harrison was a charmer and he was smart to keep going after Kallie. I loved the further I read in the story and the little reveals he would give. Yeah, *sigh*! Oh man, if you want a great swoony, clean and fast read, this one definitely would hit the spot. It did for me! Kallie has never gotten over the death of her father when she was 14. She has great respect for the men in blue, those serving their communities but after all the emotions she went through and the heartache that happened after her father's death, Kallie knows she can never have a relationship with a man in blue. Yet when the man of her dreams tells her he's joining the Police Academy, Kallie's world comes crashing down around her. Flash forward 5 years and Kallie finds herself in a "Hit and ummm not run" accident with a mighty fine police officer. Yeah I think you can connect the dots. Seriously loved these two and their story. I love Jennifer Peel's characters and stories. They're so fun. I wish this could have been longer and a more to their relationship but seeing as how it's a novella that's not possible. Still loved it and as I said earlier had lots of great feels throughout. The tears, well those tears were brought on by a crazy year last year that was emotionally hard. But definitely brought a lot of growth and learning. I could feel for Kallie in her concerns about becoming involved with somebody who's life would be in danger constantly and the fears of losing them. I loved how the author handled the ending and how everything worked out. Can I say Harrison was just awesome? Oh wait, I already did, didn't I? Hee Hee! Ok I'm stopping now but I highly recommend this sweet novella for you if you want a great HEA couple, and sweet swoony moments. Content: Clean I read this as part of the Sweet Tea and Kisses box set. I received a review copy from one of the authors. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own. Happy Reading!!!

Five years later Kallie and Harrison run into each other. Kallie does her best to ignore her still-lingering feelings for Harrison, while Harrison sees their chance encounter as a sign that they should be together and does his best to work his way back into Kallie’s life. I really do like Ms. Peel’s writing. Her wordplay is creative and entertaining. The plot moves along at a good pace and never gets bogged down by extraneous descriptions or repetitive internal monologues. I never felt bored reading this story and even with it being novella length there was adequate plot and character development. And yet...I didn’t like this heroine. Kallie is completely frustrating. She pushes the hero away, leads him to believe it’s for a very unflattering reason, then gets angry because he believed so poorly of her. Good grief woman! Put on your big girl panties and be honest for once. Don’t get me wrong - Kallie’s reason for not having a relationship with Harrison wasn’t unreasonable. I just don't like how she treated Harrison. But miscommunication/non-communication is a hallmark of the young adult romance genre and I am OVER IT. So my poor opinion of this book is probably on me. Ms. Peel has several more books about young people, and I think I’m going to pass on them. I’ve got too many other books to read!

Kallie Clemmons had always succeeded in all aspects of her life except for when it came to matters of the heart. Her high school boyfriend told her he loved her and they had planned a future together until he uttered the words "I'm not going to law school, I've decided to be a cop." These words had Kallie running to the hills as there was no way she could ever become a cop's wife, especially after she saw what happened to her parents as her father was a police officer. As usual Jennifer Peel's stories suck me right in from the start, I started and finished this novella in one evening while cooking. Kallie and Harrison dated while in college and both were accepted into law school, but Harrison decided he no longer wanted to become a lawyer which is when Kallie unceremoniously dumped him with no explanation. How embarrassing to be in a car accident with a police car and then find out that the driver is the guy you dumped!! Harrison knows what he wants and he's not about to let Kallie do another "hit and run" on him again, but he needs to find out why she left him. Will Kallie finally be able to tell Harrison why she ran away and never took his calls? I loved this story, it's got characters being given a second chance at love, family members giving advice, and as usual, swoon worthy kisses.

Like all of Jennifer Peel books that you can't put down, this one didn't disappoint. Fun characters and story line. Moral Note: Some passionate kisses, but otherwise clean. Like all of Jennifer Peel books that you can't put down, this one didn't disappoint. Fun characters and story line. Harrison is the most persistent guy and ever so sweet. I loved him. This novella works because you know Kallie and Harrison have a history. Their love isn't new, it's just re-kindling. But it gave me butterflies like it was new! ;) If I were to offer a complaint it would be that this book was too short. I wanted MORE. More time with these characters, more of their story, just MORE. Jennifer Peel is my favorite. She writes stories that just feel good to my heart and soul. Her characters are full of life and personality. I am so spoiled by her books. That's why I wanted more from this story. I wanted this to be a full length novel because it was over way too soon. I know what a full length novel from Jennifer feels like. When I voiced this to her over Facebook she told me she felt the same way and was thinking of maybe writing a follow up. Well, that made me happy! This was a fun novella, light and enjoyable! Content: Clean, some kissing - I received a copy of this book from the author. A positive review was not required and all opinions expressed are my own.

Meanwhile, each love interest in question is from the same mold: saying ALL the right things, patient, kind, willing to give up whatever matters to him, showing up at all the right times, gallant, adoring, perfectly impossible. I don't mean to be mean; I've read almost everything she's written because I adored The Sidelined Wife series so much but after this one, I actually called my husband at work and "vented" my frustration at my literary insanity (reading the same thing over and over expecting different results). I think I'm "venting" here, too. Anyhoo, if you haven't tried Jennifer Peel's books, go for it, but save Sidelined Wife series for last so you'll end pleasantly suprised! (Or if you know of any of her books that don't follow this format described above, tell me which ones! I'd love to read them!) 💛💛

This was one of my three favorites from the boxed set. It was easy to connect with Kallie as she kept running away even while I kept thinking she was being stupid. Maybe she's my brand of stupid? (3.5 stars) - Decently written earlier effort This was one of the author's earlier efforts, and it shows. Still, you can see her potential developing here. It's a decently told story, though the characters are a little too perfect, and feel a little artificial. I love books that represent our public defenders in a positive light. This one was no exception. Harrison was the perfect gentleman and a hero. He pursued Kallie hard. I love that he didn't take no for an answer. He was willing to let Kallie go at her own pace as long as she was his in the end. I love that he didn't take no for an answer. He was willing to let Kallie go at her own pace as long as she was his in the end. I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I loved the characters who became real to me. This second chance love story had me rooting for Kallie and Harrison and I just couldn't put it down. It's a quick read because it's only 10 chapters, but it's fun, adorable, emotional, and I'm still smiling. I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. Loved this novella!! This was such a great novella, although (of course!) because I liked it so much, I wish the story could have been longer. The story had a great pace to it, and I loved that the two main characters didn't have a million misunderstandings or drag on their dilemma forever. It was a tender romance, and one I will definitely be reading again. Loved this novella!! Hit and Run Love by Jennifer Peel • Fear Sometimes fear of the past or the unknown can stifle what'll truly make you happy in the future. It's that what happens between Kallie and Harrison? You'll have to read Hit and Run Love, this sweet but emotional story of the pain and joy of love.... Oh so worth the time to read. This may have been my first Jennifer Peel story, but it won't be my last! Cute short story I like Jennifee Peel and this was a cute, quick short story. There is still some decent character development even though the story is so short. Content: Clean Language: I think there was one swear word...I would consider this very clean. Religious: No Happy reading!!
