This is a very thoughtful book about how to keep a sense of perspective in both your life and career. It comes at it from a quite different direction than many of the 'be a better manager/leader/person' books that I have encountered and is much the better for it. While not every topic or recommendation is for everyone, most people will find something here which will be new and intriguing. It is also very practical and I already have a new morning routine mapped out for myself! This is a very thoughtful book about how to keep a sense of perspective in both your life and career. This book is beautifully written because it was written from the heart and has inspiring stories that make you want to become a better version of yourself right away. I have been working to embrace mindfulness into my life on my own but knew I needed a guide to take things to the next level. I found this well written book to be succinct and extremely useful. The personal narratives of successful people sharing their stories makes it very relatable. What a life-affirming read. It's so easy to get swept into the business of work and forget why we're here. This book shares stories from executives who have been there-- and who have found ways or have been cast into circumstances where they had no choice but to remember. She also gives simple tools to help readers access that human space that makes us happier and ultimately more effective. What a life-affirming read. All I can say is thank you to the friend who gave me the book,Show up as Your Best Self. If only it had been written 20 years ago. When I opened the box I quietly thought, oh no, not another self help book, if I hear the word mindful one more time that will be the end of me, it was not the end of me, in fact you could say it was somewhat of a beginning. The beginning because I was able to pause. By pausing I could see my life in much clearer terms. I suppose it's never too late.
