Detective Comics #949 - 4 out of 5 stars "Batwoman Begins" - 4 out of 5 stars What I LIked Let's start by saying that Ben Oliver's illustration are simply a beautiful piece of art , I'm not completely sure whether he will continue illustrating for Detective comics or will take over the role at Batwoman titles but either way he is certainly one of the top dog when it comes to art at DC comics . Meanwhile the story focussed on Batwoman and set in motion events that would obviously be dealt in Detective Comics #949 - 4 out of 5 stars "Batwoman Begins" - 4 out of 5 stars What I LIked Let's start by saying that Ben Oliver's illustration are simply a beautiful piece of art , I'm not completely sure whether he will continue illustrating for Detective comics or will take over the role at Batwoman titles but either way he is certainly one of the top dog when it comes to art at DC comics . Meanwhile the story focussed on Batwoman and set in motion events that would obviously be dealt in Batwoman's solo titles from Feb 15th . This story arc meanwhile detailed the path of Batwoman and how her goal is different from Batman and how she arrived on that path . It was a nicely written plot which was achieved everything it intended to and did it in just 2 books and while doing it once again emphasized why Batwoman was one of the most Bad-ass woman on the Comic industry . What I Didn't Like The only thing that I can point out as a flaw is that compared to how good the plots for Detective comics have been this one felt as if it only wanted to set up Batwoman's solo issue , it was sort of like a teaser on what to expect from that Issue rather than what you usually get from this issue . It certainly got me excited for Batwoman's comic run but didn't necessarily gave me the joy that I get from Tynion's run of detective comics

Yes, this is a lower rating than I typically give to this title. And 3 stars is all this earned. This is a team book and there was no real team. This was 99% setup for the new Batwoman comic. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't Detective Comics in my opinion.

Batwoman gets her own title next month and this book and the one before it set up her first story arc.

Despite the two issues of Batwoman Begins being short it packed of good content giving the backstory of Kate Kane and her connections to the Colony crime syndicate. In this issue picks up with a flashback of Batman questions Kane’s as to why she is stalking Batman around. Kane’s response to know how the whole hero thing is done quickly showing off the differences between the two cousins. The Colony plays a big part as well as it is shown that they knew of Kane’s curiosity of with Batman and kept her away fearing she would be assimilated in the Bat Family. In the Belfry Batman and Batwomen take on Colony Prime and the rest of the colony in hopes of ending things once and for all. However, things don’t go the way they’d like as they let Colony Prime escape with the help of the monster venom and studying Bats’ move set. While the story moves slightly it could’ve been more although Batwoman Rebirth will most likely take off where this leaves off. Hunting down Colony on the Gotham Black market may prove challenging as Kane looks to end the spread of the Monster Venom. The use of technology and hand to hand combat flowed seamlessly incorporating the Bat Family’s penchant for both. The art in this issue is impressive as Oliver switches up the penciling when needed varying from thin to medium outlines. Paneling doesn’t do much but changes enough to avoid from being standard using varying slants to shake things up as seen when Prime goes monster mode. Action scenes are where this issue goes past good into great showing off what Justice League vs. Suicide Squad could’ve been. This issue was good despite it being short as it allows Batwoman to spin-off into her own series where the philosophical difference Bruce and Kate will be explored. I.e. wanting to end crime vs. wanting to end war. Rating 9.0/10

This turned out to be a prelude to Batwoman: Rebirth. I liked the comparing and contrasting between Batman and Batwoman's methods.

League of Shadows öncesi, vasatın üstü bir "Batwoman Begins" okuduk. Ama hem #948 hem de #949'daki kapak ve Batwoman çizimleri beni oldukça etkiledi. 8/10

Ugh, gosh, I love the artwork in this... I want to just bite into it. Everything looks so good. Bruce and Kate have a good talk, and Kate finally talks to her dad. I'm still not entirely sure what's going on with Kate's dad, but at least he still cares deeply for her, whatever his agenda is. Guess we'll find out what's going on in Batwoman.

Can't wait to read the Batwoman standalone. Like what this sets up for Kate, but also intrigued by what it will mean for the team going forward.
