This was one big steaming pile of shark poo at the bottom of the ocean. The story is a mess hopscotching all over the place. It's not even able to aspire to the levels of a SyFy original movie like Sharktopus. The dialogue is awful. You can't even read this just to watch the shark deaths because they are all at angles so you can't really see them until the 4th issue. The best thing about the whole book were the covers. When I first saw this comic, I didn't realize Hookjaw had been around since the 70s. I just thought it looked like a cool Jaws inspired book. I did enjoy this one. The shark was a major part of the story, but not the main part of the story. It involved shark researchers, Somali pirates and the CIA. Basically the CIA loses something it needs to recover, and the SEALS, CIA, researchers and sharks all end up interacting. This would really make a good movie, as the story was very cinematic. The sharks were almost incidental to the story, but the coolest part at the same time. The art was good, but I wouldn't say great. Overall a good read, especially for fans of Jaws and similar stories. I look forward to reading the original Hookjaw stories when the collection comes up later this year, although I'm sure those will be a bit campier than this one.

Disappointing. Fairly interesting story but so many characters I just did not connect with or like enough to care about what happened to them. Instead spent my time either enjoying seeing them get turned into shark food - or wishing that they would. Go sharks!

A sequel to the original 70's series, in the same spirit of stupid fun. You get to see several disagreeable characters make bad decisions and then get eaten by sharks. The artwork is very striking, with the underwater sequences particularly well done. There are a few twists, turns and surprises--enough to keep things interesting. A bloody mess, in a good way. This is a remake/continuation of the Hook story line from the early 80’s. The art is well done the story is alright a little too liberal for my political tastes but not enough to keep me from finishing it. One negative is giving the shark an inner monologue, I would have rather not know what it was thinking.

Violent, sharky, fun! Loved it.

Was hoping for some good Sharks vs. Man carnage but this is just greenpeace vs. somali pirate types yammering. a total waste of theme and time.
