Great anthology full of interesting stories that combine some elements of mystery with fantasy, science fiction, humor, or nonfiction. There is also some poetry sprinkled here and there. This mix has some unusual characters, including a crazy cat lady, cartoon dogs, astronauts, fairy tale characters, a cockroach, an inter-dimensional traveler, a moster fish, and, of course, Sherlock Holmes, among others starring in the twenty-four adventures in this book. You want variety? You'll find it here. Great anthology full of interesting stories that combine some elements of mystery with fantasy, science fiction, humor, or nonfiction. The stories are nicely interspersed with poetry and unusual flash compositions that lend a contrasting perspective. The stories employ borrowed themes reshaped, mashed-up, and given new life; original ideas cast in a spectrum of varied genres; and mythic motifs glazed in modern hues of language. On the whole, the selections are heavily science fiction/fantasy, rather than traditional ghostly horrors, each with its own mystery to solve, diverse characters entailed with solving it, and alien worlds built in which the dramas unfold. Each piece will deliver the reader to a unique place, in time, in dimension, in language, revealing varied points of view from which to explore the aspect of mystery.
