He hadn’t slept with her yet, but he wanted to. He wanted to real bad. He was looking to have a good time, and that was it. Alex was the love of his life, the other part of his soul and the mother of his daughter. Jonathon had his shot and it was gone. “I can’t offer you anything more than a good time. I’m not looking for a relationship. Shannon, I like you, but I don’t want you thinking that this is going to be something more than just us having a good time together. We could have a lot of fun, but I just don’t want you thinking that this would turn into anything more than what it is.” Why did it feel like he was about to betray Alex? When he’d had sex before, guilt plagued him, “I miss you, Alex. I miss you so fucking much that sometimes I can’t breathe.” Every time he talked to her, he prayed that she would answer back, but nothing ever came. He relaxed into her for a minute before freezing and then quickly pulling out of her. Regardless of why, he made her feel cheap and dirty and it hurt. She’d never felt more humiliated in her life, and of course she hadn’t seen Jonathon since that night. It didn’t surprise her, though. Reliving the humiliation of last week was something she did not want to do. “Alex was my soul mate, my one and only. If you were willing, I’d love to continue things with you. I just don’t want you expecting more from me than I can or will give.” I won’t be sleeping over. Maybe we’ll go out to dinner every so often, but there won’t be dates. I won’t be introducing you to my daughter. It’s not to be a dick, but I don’t want her confused.” Good, now he had someone to go to if he had an itch to scratch. One Year Later Their arrangement this past year couldn’t be any more perfect. She didn’t expect him to take her out; she didn’t blow up his phone wondering where he was and what he was doing. Honestly, he had been the one to usually initiate conversations via text messaging or calls. Jonathon knew he needed to break things off and soon. Not because he didn’t care about her, but because he was starting to care too much. He was a selfish man, though, and he was going to hang on to her as long as possible. Kasey had hated him ever since. She reminded Shannon all the time that she deserved better than to be used the way he was using her. Maybe she was right. This ‘relationship’ you have going isn’t healthy. He’s using you.” He wasn’t lying when he told her that he believed Alex was his one and only because every now and then he felt he needed to remind her—that was how he felt. “I-I’m pregnant.” She held it up in his face. He didn’t react at all at first. She didn’t know if that was a good thing or not. Jonathon leaned toward her. “Get. Rid. Of. It.” “I hate you! I will never forgive you for this.” “I will never ask you for anything because this is my baby and mine alone.” I will never make that mistake again.” She opened her car door and climbed in, and in stunned silence, he watched her drive away. It was wrong, but he still had a bottle of Alex’s favorite scent hidden in his dresser drawer so he could smell it, and smell her whenever he wanted. “Do you blame her? I love you, man, but you told her to get rid of the baby.” After kissing the tombstone, he stood up and began the trek back to his car. While walking, something floated down in front of him. Jonathon held out his hand and a tiny white feather landed right in his palm. “Sweetheart, what are you doing? That son of a bitch told you to get rid of my grandchild and you’re still talking to him? Fuck me, and you’re watching his kid. Don’t get me wrong, because I really do like Josie, she’s a sweet girl, but she’s not your child. She’s got family. He shouldn’t be dumping it on you, especially after the way he treated you.” “I know, but maybe it’s time to start backing away and let them go back to their lives. You can start focusing on my grandchild.” For a year, you felt it necessary to remind me that I was good enough to sleep with…” “I know I agreed to it, but I hoped that you would see what we could have and that you would change your mind about us being serious. Instead, you reminded me. All. Of. The. Time. That Alex was your one shot at love. Your soul mate and your other half, and it broke my heart every time. “No, it’s not. I love you, but I deserve to be loved like Alex was.” Hell, he didn’t know what he wanted. Yes, he loved her, but he didn’t know if he wanted to get married again. He looked at his daughter in the rearview mirror. “I don’t know, baby. We haven’t really talked about it. When we know, we’ll let you know.” Henry’s last name was Brooks and he wanted Shannon to share it as well, but something was holding him back from doing anything about it. He didn’t know what was holding him back, but there was something. It wasn’t anything bad, but it remained in the back of his mind. He went to the bed, picking up the bottle of Alex’s perfume, her wedding band, and pictures. Sitting heavily on the bed, he picked up the piece of paper with his name on it. His hand shook because he knew...

Jonathan Brooks is still in a serious struggle after the loss of his wife, while raising his daughter, Joise. His sister helps out quite a bit, but she can't take the place of his wife. Even though it's been some years, he still hasn't moved on past, just indulges in random hook ups. When he meets Shannon, he offers her a friends with benefits situation, as he wants nothing to do with relationships ever again. It's working fine, but feelings are developing despite his protests. She takes Jonathan up on his offer, but things take a turn that neither of them expected, so he is doing everything he can to keep himself distant. As life-changing decisions must be made, will Jonathan hold on to the past, or will he let it go for a second chance at happiness? Finding Hope is an emotional journey full of angst that may or may not have had my eyes leaking a time or two. But it took me a bit to become fully invested for whatever reason, although I did get to a point where I couldn't put it down. Evan Grace's talented writing style pulled out my emotions like they were my own, and I absolutely LOVED the whole premise of Jonathan and Shannon, especially her realistic struggles that never held her down. He, of course, was frustrating on more than one occasion, although I did feel his heartbreak physically, which almost brought me to my knees, but he still used it to be kind of a douche from time to time. I'm sad that this series is over, but I'm excited to see what this author brings to the table next!

The Good- I liked that the (h) had a disability, and the reality of all the limitations that may sometime come with. I gave it 2 stars for that aloe. The Bad-The (H) was a weak kneed jerk who treated Shannon (h) like a piece of crap at the beginning, which she allowed for far too long IMO. His one redeeming quality was that he was a good dad but that was it. The book was an overall ok read by this author, who's other books are way better. This book was actually pretty good. Jonathan and Shannon's story was a story about Jonathan trying to find enough room in his heart and open up to another soul mate while raising a daughter. The one thing about this book I was not a fan of was it felt very rushed in the beginning and only until the very end did it slow down a bit. Other than that the book was good. I read the synopsis of this one and new I just had to see what it was about. Thank goodness, it was suggested to read the book prior to this one in the series as the characters overlap. I hesitate between 3.5 and 4 Hearts for this one. I am going with 4 simply because this book was a vast improvement over the previous book. The meaty parts of the story are good. There is emotion and Jonathan's broken heart just about brings you to your knees. There is family and sisters and babies, a single dad. However, the author's style of "telling" what is happening and the jumpy transitions from scene to scene take some getting used to. Like I said, this book had a little less of the narrative and a bit more of the character conversation and emotion over the previous one in the series so an 'A' for effort for sure. In the end, I did feel the connection between Shannon and Jonathan and could be happy in that they truly did have an HEA. *Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.

Rating: 4.5* We first meet Jonathon and Shannon in 'One Day at a Time' which gives a sneak preview of them and their story. Jonathon, having loved and lost previously, has been clear that a relationship is off the table. Whilst Shannon respected this, it all changed for her when there was a surprise addition and his reaction ran her off. Whilst you can completely empathise with Jonathon and the way he feels, you also admire Shannon for standing her ground yet stepping up when Jonathon needed her Rating: 4.5* We first meet Jonathon and Shannon in 'One Day at a Time' which gives a sneak preview of them and their story. Wow, what an emotional ride this book was. I have loved this series from the start and omg this one hits you with a bang. The pain that Jonathan was going through and to find Shannon when he least expect it was amazing. The passion between these two was smoking. She has spunk and is such a fighter no matter what is thrown at her.

3.5-4 I really loved this whole storyline. I love a book with a main character who is so strong and doesn't let a disability hold them back. This is the fifth book in the “Starting Over” series, and is Shannon and Jonathan’s story. Shannon is deaf and works as a bartender in her parents bar. Jonathan who is the over protective brother of Tessa, is grieving the loss of his wife, and I must admit, he was a total jerk in the way he behaved with Shannon. The chemistry between these two is off the charts from the very beginning. Will Jonathan be capable of letting go and moving on? You really need to read this for yourself! The title Finding Hope is more than just a name, it gives you hope that no matter what you experience in life in regards to loss, you can still mourn the loss and move on while keeping memories alive. This story will have you tearing up from the beginning with sad tears and ending with happy tears at the ending. Jonathon is struggling with the loss of his wife, Alex and raising, Josie at a young age. His sister, Tessa helps him out as well. They are a close knit family after the life they have had growing up. A few years pass and while he still struggles daily to move on he makes an arrangement with Shannon that they become FWB as long as no emotional feelings come out this or a relationship. It works quite well even though the emotions are starting to take over, but not all things continue without actions and boy do we get an action in here. Well a few you can say and while some where gut-wrenching they turned out to be a good spin for us. Jonathon must decide if he can move on from Alex and give Shannon the love she deserves. One of the things that truly captures your heart is that Shannon, her family nor Jonathon use her disability against her. It is not often that we find reads like this where a man falls for a women with a disability and the synopsis of this just made me want to read this that much more. We take for granted the things we can hear daily and this story shows you the struggle that occurs when you cannot hear and what would happen in an emergency situation. This story while sad leaves you happy and makes you feel as you are apart of the story as it is being told.

When Jonathan suggests a friends with benefits non relationship, Shannon says yes believing like all of us woman, he will change. But what happens when things don't change? When you have to make major decisions? And someone you loves says something horrible? Follow Jonathan and Shannon on their path. I actually really liked Jonathan, even when he was dumb. I understood where he was coming from but wished he'd opened his eyes and not his mouth sooner. I was glad that Shannon made the two difficult decisions that she did and wasn't just a doormat. Her fears at one part of the story were really understandable, even if she took them to the extreme. BTW I'm pretty sure I know what story she was reading at one part of this story....that gave me a giggle. My only complaint was ...Felix - I wanted resolution!!! I've always enjoyed Evan's writing style and this story is no different. I'm sorry to see this series end but I look forward to future work.

Shannon and Jonathon, they match each other perfectly, like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. He just needed some reality check, and to stop feeling guilty for moving forward. He loved Alex and it was tragic that she was pulled away so soon, but he was given a gift. A beautiful caring women. Shannon had some insecurities because Jonathon had these huge walls up and said some stupid things at times, but it just made him fight harder which is good. He needed that check. I would love to see where all these families are now.... Bell & Luke, Dustin & Stacy, Dylan & Jouney, Cash and Tessa, and more about Shannon & Jonathon. I'm also curious about her Shannon's sister, best friend and brother, plus Jared, Zachary and Skeeter. They're all supporting characters that haven't had their HEA. Even if it's only a short story about them. I enjoyed the series. Erotic, romantic, some tragedy, overcoming insecurities and babies. Well rounded characters and stories. Although I'm nervous to read about the kids as I don't feel I'm done with the parents stories I cannot wait to learn more.

I fell in love with this series a couple of years ago and I've loved every single book!! I loved this book from the first page to the last. This is a sweet 2nd, or 3rd if you count screw ups, chance romance. Jonathan and Shannon are destined to make a life together but pasts keep getting in the way. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series but this final book didn’t have the same power the previous novels did. I think it’s because I didn’t quite see the chemistry between the characters and as much as I know Jonathon was hurting he was a complete a-hole to the heroine on several occasions. Personally, I wouldn’t have been giving him all the chances she did but I’m glad they worked everything out and it closed the series nicely and with an opening for the next series focusing on the children - w I have thoroughly enjoyed this series but this final book didn’t have the same power the previous novels did. 5 Hopeful stars! Loved this book. I somehow enjoy single-dad trope the best. And this was no different. But there were a lot of time jumps. The H and h start off with a no-strings-attached relationship in chapter 2. And 2 pages later, Chapter 3 begins with a 1-year time jump when the h realizes she is pregnant and the 2 characters have been having a friend with benefits relationship for a whole year. Overall, I liked the drama, the angst, the climax, and the epilogue. This is why this book is 5 pe 5 Hopeful stars! Loved this book. I somehow enjoy single-dad trope the best. I have really enjoyed this series and Jonathan and Shannon's book didn't dissapoint me. If you have not had the chance to read this series, please read them you will not be dissapointed. I don't want to post any spoilers. The story is about a widower and single father Jonathan trying to move on from the past and coming to terms with the fact that you can have more than one soul mate. Love shannon's character and i'm so glad she got her HEA. I have really enjoyed this series and Jonathan and Shannon's book didn't dissapoint me. 3 1/2 stars. Heartbreaking and sexy. I've liked the stories in this series so much. There is a bit of a formula. H & h are madly attracted, something breaks them apart (usually the H running scared or something), H has to fight to get h back, she usually forgives pretty easily and then there's some injury to the h that causes H to pull his head out of his a$$. A bit like crack, I've enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll read move by this author. 3 1/2 stars. Heartbreaking and sexy. I've liked the stories in this series so much. There is a bit of a formula. Jonathon and Shannon This was a new author and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. All the characters were so dynamic. Jonathon and Shannon slowly fell in love with each other while being friends with benefits. Things get complicated when Jonathan's past still haunts him and Shannon doubts his level of commitment.
