Roads diverge, but the always seem to converge sooner or later.

Detective Comics 947 - rating 5/5 The Victim Syndicate - rating : 4.5 / 5 What I liked The story really explored what it means to lose someone , it showed how Batman's reclusiveness in the end can hurt those whom he loved . The plot was very fascinating and it was a surprise to see that no one in DC has explored this particular idea and it was explored very nicely by Tynion as the victim syndicate did prove to be quite a handful for the team to handle . The plot was very fascinating and it was a surprise to see that no one in DC has explored this particular idea and it was explored very nicely by Tynion as the victim syndicate did prove to be quite a handful for the team to handle . Meanwhile the art work was perfect as usual and really helped the story be illustrated in the nicest way possible . The best part of the book though has to be the characters as Nightwing and Spoiler get the major share of Character development while the plot kept asking via these characters if what Batman and his companions did actually helped the city of Gotham or destroy the lives of people living in it . What I didn't Like Despite the major twist in the end issue one can't deny that the Victim syndicate appeared a major threat before the final two issues and the way they were easily defeated felt really underwhelming and that's probably the only thing that I didn't like about this book Conclusions The victim syndicate is the 2nd proper Story arc in the Detective comics by James Tynion and just like the first arc "the rise of Batmen" it delivers , not as emphatically as the first story arc but still delivers

I have to hand it to Tynion, he made Steph and the Victim's Syndicate's perspective one that could by sympathized with and understood, even if it was pretty stupid to execute it the way they did. I can't help being disappointed in Steph though. Especially with the way Cass looked at her. I have a soft spot for Cass... Good art, good dialogue, and poor Tim.

And interesting conclusion to this arc.

The Victim Syndicate brought to life how the little guys can be the casualty of a heroic deed. Spoiler can get over Tim Drake and Tims last plans to Batman resonate deeply with the Dark Knight.

THIS is why what happened with Tim was worth it and not just some gimmick. It gives Stephanie Brown a reason to act the way that she does here. And there's this great discussion of whether or not Gotham would be better without vigilanted.

Batman Detective Comics. Vol. 2 – “The Victim Syndicate” #947 “I should have let her grieve. We all should have given ourselves that time.” – Batman regarding Stephanie …..

So many spoilers, in several ways, below: I appreciate that this issue showed Steph is actually competent, thinks for herself, and is a badass. They needed someone to question Batman, and Steph has always been that person. While I don't think old!Steph would have done it this way (damn you reboot), she hasn't agreed with his form of crime fighting in a very long time. Even when she was Robin she didn't mesh well. To be honest, girl needed to be taken off the team when Tim died. She needed to rest So many spoilers, in several ways, below: I appreciate that this issue showed Steph is actually competent, thinks for herself, and is a badass. To be honest, girl needed to be taken off the team when Tim died. She needed to rest and mourn, not be forced into a bunch of crime fighting psychological bullshit. No wonder she broke. The comic needed someone to, and she was the best option. Still don't agree with most of her actions. The comic as a whole, as a Steph fan, was very cringy.

Of all the five star books, this is the five starriest. This was effectively the epilogue to the Victim Syndicate arc and it was a hard-hitting one. I should have seen it coming, but I didn't. James Tynion IV has done a masterful (and I mean masterful) job bringing this team together and building both the team and individuals in a way that feels organic. Still the shining jewel of the Rebirth launch for me.

Not a very satisfying conclusion to t Victims Syndicate story. I didn't like Monster Men either. The Detective Comics Rebirth is kind of striking out. I'm not sure if I want to keep my order for the next story.

Very solid book. However i elevated it to a 5 star rating because of the big reveal ending with Red Robin a real big moment in the Rebirth universe.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Ok, Spoiler would make an awesome villain. But, I like the last conversation between Batman and Batwoman, allowing Stephanie to, in a sense, keep him honest.

God damn, still the best Bat book on the market. Really hope the big, dumb mysterious kidnapper stuff ends soon, but what is going on with Spoiler and the team in general is great and exciting.
