They say once bitten, twice shy. But I’ve never really been a fast learner. You don’t forget the man who leaves you in the dust – literally, driving off as you stand there sobbing, clutching your borrowed prom dress and shoes. You certainly don’t fall in love with him when you see him again after spending the better part of 15 years imagining his painful death from a They say once bitten, twice shy. But I’ve never really been a fast learner. You don’t forget the man who leaves you in the dust – literally, driving off as you stand there sobbing, clutching your borrowed prom dress and shoes. You certainly don’t fall in love with him when you see him again after spending the better part of 15 years imagining his painful death from a fall off a cliff into a pit of hungry alligators. Well, you shouldn’t. Should you? No, you definitely SHOULDN’T. Got it. So explain to me why, 15 years after that fateful night, am I standing here face to face with last man I ever wanted to see again, Finn O’Reilly, thinking, he is still the sexiest man I’ve ever seen? He does sell his apology well. Arrogant prick, always so damned charming. To make things worse, now I’m stuck with him for a week...in Paris. Good thing there’s shopping and restaurants and museums to keep me busy. Right? Right. Then why can’t I think of anything else other than knocking on his hotel door and telling him to pick up where we left off; no, not the dust leaving part, the hot, steamy, fog up the car windows kissing part. Question is, after 15 years, can I really forgive him for what he did? And how will I handle it, if all he wants is a week of ‘what happens in Paris, stays in Paris’? Maybe the only reason broken hearts heal, are to get broken again. Once Bitten is a sweet and sexy second chance romance by Bella Hunt, there are no cliff-hangers, no cheating scenarios, and happily ever afters await the main characters. It’s the getting there that’s the fun part. Once Bitten is the first of the standalone novels that make up The O’Reilly Clan series. Fool Me Twice, the second novel, will be published in December 2016.

Tissue alert! Parts of this book had me in tears, I was living the story with Kara and oh, what a story it was. There was sadness and heartbreak (all inflicted by Finn); there was loneliness (Kara wouldn't bring herself to trust another man); there was joy; there was happiness; there were wonderful descriptions that gave a real feel for the places in the story (especially Paris, my favourite city in the world); and there was a great cast of supporting characters...this could totally be a film! The writing was crisp, there wasn't a chapter that was extraneous, or slowed the story down, and yes, in the copy I read there was the odd mistake, but I made allowances as it was such a good read. Bella Hunt is a new author for me and I'm looking forward to book 2! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Surprising, sexy and emotional second chance romance. Kara was best friends with Heather growing up. Heather had a gorgeous, cocky twin brother named Finn and Kara had been in love with him for years, right up until prom night. To say that things went badly between them that night would be a massive understatement. She swears that she hates him and that she never wants to see him again. To say that things went badly between them that night would be a massive understatement. She swears that she hates him and that she never wants to see him again. Kara leaves town right after graduation and too humiliated to ever explain the situation to her best friend and too eager to never see Finn’s face again, she heads to college and never looks back. Never. Fifteen years later, she’s getting ready to go on a work trip to Paris when her boss calls to tell her he can no longer join her on the trip. But not to worry. The new owner’s step-son will accompany her instead as he is learning the ropes of the family business. His name happens to be Finn, but Kara hopes against all hopes that it’s not her Finn. Of course though, it is. The hate Kara has harboured towards Finn since high school has not mellowed, if anything it’s intensified. When faced with the boy who shattered her heart into smithereens, she cannot hide her feelings behind professionalism. The passion is too extreme to mask. Kara and Finn still have the other kind of passion too, but Kara is so angry that she resists his flirtatious advances for as long as possible. Eventually though, the old friends give into to the chemistry between them and find out what they missed all those years ago on prom night. Kara hopes she has finally found happiness with the one true love of her life, but Finn is very hesitant to commit to anything past their week in Paris. Near the end of the book, Kara finds out why he was reluctant to commit and it was gut-wrenching. Can Finn convince Kara to forgive him again or is their second chance at love just not meant to be? Great second chance/enemies to lovers romance. Very well written. The author had me truly caring about these characters. I was physically queasy reading some of the heartbreaking scenes. That’s got to mean it’s a good book! :) Told mostly in Kara’s POV. Some alternating POVs towards the end of the story. No cliffhanger, standalone novel with HEA. I received this book willingly from the author. This is my first O'Reily clan novel so I have no back story to go on for any of the characters. We have Kara, a plain jane personal assistant at a local up and coming company. Kara's boss requires her to travel at least once per month with him for business meetings. She's called into his office for another meeting and is not too excited about where they will be headed next. She's called into his office for another meeting and is not too excited about where they will be headed next. Larry pulls a fast one on her and shows her a piece of paper with their destination on it. Of course Kara's very excited, but then Larry psyche's her out. Only to realize his joke wasn't that funny and admits that yes they are headed to Paris for their next set of meetings. Kara's never travelled anywhere but she's dreamed of it. Kara grew up on the outskirts of the "cool kids" but she managed to have one of the "cool kids" Heather take her under her wing. Heather also has a twin brother, that happens to be our other character - Finn. Finn is a hot young millionaire working at his step-father's company. Little does Kara know who's door she's about to knock on. Turns out Kara's boss cannot go on the trip now, so the boss's son is filling in. I won't give away anything else but this was a really great book. I enjoyed the HEA but I was kept guessing as to how it would actually end!

Now 15 years later fate will step in and bring these two souls together but it wont be easy. I will say is yes he is married but he married a childhood friend and there was no honeymoon, the wedding was for a green card (3 years? in US its 90 days maybe 6 months at the most) There is no cheating in sexual sense, the ending was rushed to fast, first 24 chapters are in Kara's p.o.v. then Finn has 3 maybe 4 and the last few are in Kara's again. Loved the story even brought out some emotions when she had bad events happening to Kara. ARC was exchanged for a honest review

She was heartbroken when he left her and it has left her very distrustful. When he gets the opportunity for a second chance, he won't let it go by. I enjoyed this second chance at love story. The author evokes a lot of emotions in this romance. You can feel the pain and joy as these two remember their past time together and the many years apart. It is very well written. The characters are well developed and I could relate to their pain over the past. A second chance with your soulmate. I liked their story. Kara really deserved to find her hea. I am giving this book 3 stars (reason below) when it should have gotten 4 stars. I got this book as an ARC and decided to download it through my KU to see if the grammatical errors where fixed and most of the errors where fixed some where not. The characters names were switched around. Example instead of using Kara (main character) the name was Heather (Finn's twin sister). I voluntarily reviewed an Ad A second chance with your soulmate. I could tell pretty early on that this was going to break my heart (and it did, a few times actually).. and even had an inkling as to what it was that would do it... but I was hooked (from page 1, really), waiting to find out all the "why's" and "how's". The entire story was really sort of tragic, infuriating, funny, sexy, intriguing and sweet... and just SO good! This definitely won't be the last story, from the author, for me. This grabbed a hold of my emotions and refused to let go. I had to read it in a single sitting because it was so compelling. I'm not sure how Finn manages to be a sweetheart and a jerk at the same time but he pulls it off quite well. And while Kara is broken she's also stronger than she even realizes. And the cast of supporting characters makes me wish there were more books in the series to read already. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book. I enjoyed this second chance story. Really didn't want to put this book down. Kara and Finn have a great back story of pain and longing.
