Easy Desserts The book has a good variety of desserts. Many of the recipes call for mixes. I will, at times, make use of mixes. The problem is that not all of these mixes are easy to buy. It would be nice if alternatives would have been included. For example, instead of using (in my opinion) that disgusting frozen topping, how much real whipped cream could be substituted.

Great Treats For Large Groups! Great recipes using pre-made items such as boxed cakes, brownies or pie crusts. A picture for every recipe. Yum!! I really enjoy this book and can't wait to get started. Great Treats For Large Groups! Great recipes using pre-made items such as boxed cakes, brownies or pie crusts. A picture for every recipe. I like that some of the recipes do not require any Betty Crocker products. There are some good gluten-free options here. Nothing here is very nutritious, but that's not what this book is for. A lot of recipes require pre-made mixes (which is probably obvious given the book is published by Betty Crocker), but I got a lot of good ideas for quick desserts to pull together.

I love the simplicity of bar cookies, so this title caught my eye. I did find quite a few recipes in it that looked promising, and it introduced me to the concept of slab pies, which seems a brilliant solution to making pie for a large gathering. However, nearly every recipe calls for either cookie mix, cake mix, canned frosting, or other prepackaged products. Although the recipes don’t specifically demand Betty Crocker brand, it’s a pretty obvious attempt to sell more BC grocery products. I’m not a baking snob—I don’t demand that every element of a dish be from scratch. But I also don’t need a cookbook to tell me how to make a box mix and spread on canned frosting.

I had great hopes, but I should have known it would be full of cool whip and jello recipes. If you really want good sheet pan desserts, I recommend you seek out the "Mennonite Girls Can Cook" blog. I had great hopes, but I should have known it would be full of cool whip and jello recipes.
