Why? So many damn questions unanswered! My biggest pet peeve throughout this series has been the age of the three human siblings. Why not make them a bit older and living out from under mom and dad? The relationship between them makes absolutely no sense. Or why bother with the high school setup? And for dragons that have lived 500+ years and one that was trained from birth for the possibility of claiming the throne, they make absolutely idiotic decisions. Also, why bother with the "gift" giving if they are not utilized for the majority of the story. The worst offense for me was killing off the best character of the series. You don't get to see any of the resolution or see their relationships really progress. But it was successful in getting me to read the series in its entirety.

Really, this is what is keeping this book rated so high. Now the disappointments. Why was there no scene with the underground dragons? I am not even talking about the dragons, I’m talking about the humans. But it was all bad. The immaturity of every single one of them. They have all of this “leadership” and not one of them acts like it. Sid and Skye are over 500 yo but act like they’re 16. Aspen, i can’t even begin with her. Paul having any sort of leadership or voice in the army at 19 was such a joke. And he proposed to Hazel but they went back to be being chummy? I can’t even handle the whole president thing. I just shake my head at it. The dragon Kings and queens had all these gifts but no one ever used them. No one seemed to care that entire races of dragons were wiped out. They were literally 18 and 19 years old in high school. Eye roll. The high school scene was so stupid. I don’t know why they introduce secondary characters such as Tori and Ella and then never follow up. So many open ended story lines. I did liked that no character was safe from death but the main character responses were so inappropriate at times. Like when everyone was dying they just go back to living their lives. Always in the theatre room just hanging out. Then when all the fire dragons died no one even batted an eye at Val’s cousin??? Why even introduce her and her mate then! And they don’t even bring it up. It was just a casual mention she dies. The end. Like wtf? And Val is off the hook like no big deal buddy, everyone makes mistakes. And I hate everyone because Runa died. Like screw you for that. And how the hell was it the knights fault for killing the princess??? This whole book made absolutely no sense. And surprise surprise there was no follow up on it. But my biggest pet peeve is a shitty ending. And that was a shit ending. Literally nothing got answered or wrapped up. The follow up of the main characters was crap. This story line is literally a month long over the 5 books. And they don’t offer a sufficient epilogue to this. I read all 5 of these poorly written books to have it end like that. I honestly don’t understand how these books have any followers let a lone any star ratings over 2. I could go on and on about this but I’ll stop myself. There was a lot of potential lost in this entire series by horrible plot lines and character developments. I’m kind of angry about it. As one smart girl one said, “I literally can’t even.”

The story was an ok one, but the writing felt a bit juvenile. I know it is a YA series, but I think I'd recommend it to my 10 year old before my teens. The author doesn't seem to understand the use of italics to designate speech that is telepathic. She kept using the italics even when describing the speaker, not just when they spoke. Very confusing. Better editing is definitely needed. Ii tried to like the characters. They had definite promise. But the dragons in human form, even though they were supposedly well over 200 years old, acted like children. I didn't understand that. I would have expected more maturity from them even though it was their first time as humans. Being in human form shouldn't have meant having the maturity of the human age you take. Made it difficult to enjoy the characters personalities. I found it too frustrating. I kept finding myself angry that they were acting like such children when they apparently were leaders and needed to act older, more in control. The storyline was ok. A bit trite. Even when the author tried to throw in twists, they were predictable. But, with all that being said, I did read all 5 because they are fast reading and I guess had the same usual. hook where I did want to know how she ended it. But the ending was very lame. Very boring. She breezed through it so fast it was like it was all she could do to get it over with so she could move on. I guess I would recommend it to YA readers only if you don't mind reading books with many many errors. If you like dragon stories where they are the good guys and they interact with people, this series is ok. Not great, not horrible.

Wow, what a ride... This is the last book of the series and it was an interesting story. Even though I still think there’s a lot of unanswered questions, I enjoyed reading it. And the prophecy said the knight would be the princess’s death but it wasn’t like that. Or maybe it was Rowan’s decision to lock Runa before the war that made her forget her promise to stay home and go fight? Would the dragons rise up again from different races? How and why Everett died? Did they got the magic books from his cave? What about Damien? Did he survive? They didn’t mention him again in this book. What about that letter that Everett left Skye? Why did it have Rowan’s name if it was meant for Skye only? I don’t know, just feel like there’s a lot of things left unanswered and there was still a lot of story to tell. But, I enjoyed reading it. Good dragon book series.

But when the humans decide that the dragons are too much of a threat they must now fight a war on two sides because of what the arctic and canyon dragons have done in attacking cities and decimating them down to ash in a matter of hours with their dragon flames. Val, Sid and Skye must fight together or they will all fall and fail and all of the dragons with them. War is an ugly thing and innocent lives are always lost but they must remain strong if they are going to make it through. This book picks right up where book four leaves off with Skye and Rowan returning to try and decipher the riddle of the prophesy. Though dead Everett does his best to aid them in deciphering the riddle but even he can only tell them so much before magic precludes him from not saying any more. They all struggle to come to terms with their roles in this fight but one thing is certain…only one king will remain when it is all said and done. There are many paths to the end but will they be able to come together to achieve the one that is best for them all? This book for me was riveting and engaging. Every time that I put it down because of life calling I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. The characters are so engaging and the situations that they find themselves in at times makes you want to either reach out and smack them or makes you want to cringe for their sakes. The war is upon them and you really wonder who will rise and who will fall in the race to save as many lives as they can. There were many times that I feared for some or most of them but thats how you know you’re reading a good story. Not everyone gets a happy ending but there are so many beautiful elements to this story and I absolutely loved it. This is definitely a series worth reading and if you’ve made it this far and have enjoyed it as much as I have I say this…Read on. Read all the way to the end. You won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book but I will most definitely be purchasing them all so that I can reread them again and again. Two thumbs up to the author on creating such a great series. Well done.

I could not imagine a better climax for this epic series. The fight between good and evil forces brings us many breathtaking situations with many twists, dangers, challenges and hard decisions under the pressure of circumstances. We finally get the whole prophecy and the riddle how to solve it and who will play the lead role. The threat of humanity extinction makes the fight against the white dragon even more straining since the humans also consider dragons a threat and fight against them. Epic battles and the tension if the dragons would succeed in the desperate mission or fail the world kept me on the edge the whole time, unable to put the book aside. There were many possible paths this book could follow, but the chosen one was exciting and surprising enough to keep my senses on alert the whole time. Mystery, drama, suspense, action, and lots of emotions, this series has it all. I simply loved the characters. They are all complex, with unique personalities, showing both their strengths and weaknesses which makes them very realistic and easy to identify with. Each of them has its own life story that makes a thread interwoven with lives of others, building the story in an original way and speeding the whole pace up. I simply love this series and would recommend it to anyone!

This storyline carries on basically where the last one ended so it really is essential that you read the previous books in this series before you pick up this one as it won't make much sense in a lot of places without the insight that the previous books give the reader. The storyline is amazing and there were so many times i actually gasped out loud at what i was reading, you really do get sucked into the world of this book, while reading ths book you really can't get anything else done because of how it draws you in making you feel part of their world and going through their fears and feelings of hope with them. The books are written well and are quite fast paced. The characters are relatable and easy to fall in love with. I was particular sad with the last book and kept hoping something would happen to alter the losses endured. Only as good as the villain There is a lot of good potential in this book but the climax was wanting. This is probably because the villain is just...there. She has no personality, no motivation, no depth to her at all. Candide was a weak villain who never intimidated or was someone I could sympathize with. She didn't even seem like a lunatic. Or one of the previous books been about Candide,so we at least got to know her. Particularly with how the prophecy was framed as this earth shattering event, to get 3 books of set up for a brief, weekend blip of a war, felt like reading a fifty page introduction for a five page story. It felt like everything that happened, happened because it was foreordained and all the characters were just puppets on a string. As such, it was hard to get caught up in the action or care. The previous three books were quite good, but with stopping at four, the pacing of the series was terrible.

The kings This series started out so promising but books 3-5 didn’t live up to my expectations set in books 1&2. The story was interesting and captivating in the beginning but was all over the place in the second half. Sid and aspen were so strong and skye and hazel were so weak. Skye was a terrible “king” and she didn’t deserve the title. She did nothing but whine and complain and run away. Hazel also didn’t deserve to be queen. I liked that they didn’t just go out and kill all the humans but they certainly could have stood their ground a little more. They looked weak and let the humans walk all over them. I really hoped the conclusion to this story would improve but I was more and more let down with the way things played out.

This book was my least favorite of the series, but it’s not that it was horrible. I think my main draw to the series was the romances, and this didn’t have that. Why can’t the two remain dragons with human form like the royal line? I thought this story read the smoothest and had me the most emotionally invested. This isI 💯 a book that needs to be read in order of the series, but I do recommend reading the entire series!

This will be a review of the series as a whole. While this series has an interesting setup, I feel that it's execution is lacking. There is little character development for the main characters and they are quite often 2 dimensional. But there is one thing that bothered me more than the rest, and that was Rowan. He is no longer the hero fighting his enemies and his inner struggles, but instead a "knight" who has been "fixed."

Ok. I am not happy at all. It's over and I have so many questions left unanswered. This can't be the end! So, what about the underground dragons? How does Runa's father deal with it all? I want to know more about what happens in the aftermath of the war. What about the eggs? There are so many story lines out there just waiting to be told. Kim Loth could easily get a few more books out of these wonderfully developed characters. Right? Please? Pretty please? I am sure the vast majority of your rea Ok. I am not happy at all. A bittersweet ending to a good series. My heart hurts a little after reading this. Poor Runa. My sweet little Runa. Poor Val and Skye too but I doubt Skye is as bummed about what happened to them as Val is. My opinion for Hazel varied from extreme dislike to she's not that bad. Sid and Aspen are amazing. I felt that things were rushed a bit in places like the whole thing with the president. I've still got some questions left though. Like will Hazel and Skye still be able to have Dragon babies? Awesome Finale!!! This last book brings a satisfying conclusion to the story but, like everyone else, I hate to see it end. The characters are awesome and well developed throughout the books. There are many twists and turns along the way, a wonderful adventure filled with challenge and courage. I definitely recommend this book (and the entire series) for an outstanding read! You won’t be sorry.

The Kings What a great series this has been. A great last book to the series The Kings wrapped everything up in a great storyline. Each book was just as good as the first book, with the following books getting more in depth with each "king" in the series and their relationships with the other characters. Just a great page turning read with everything, adventures, intrigue, love, friendships, and interspecies understanding. The Kings What a great series this has been. Eh. I’m glad I finished because I was curious how the prophecy would play out. Everything that happened was quick and felt superficial. Nothing deep. Considering there was a war, I should have felt something, but I didn’t. I was glad the book was told via Sid for the most part and we got to see him and Aspen more then in the last two. I probably could have just ended at with book 2, but my curiosity got the better of me.

Showstopper Halfway through book 3, I told my husband, I hope that skye is the third king. Lo and behold skye was the third king. I was so happy! Love this series. I hate that Runa had to die and I kind of hope that there is a way for the dragons to embrace the magic and maybe give every dragon the opportunity to become human for 5 to 10 years so maybe more of them can find their soulmates.

Great series I loved this series but they needed a serious proofreading and comb over. I found several sentences throughout that didn't make sense and a few inconsistencies. However I didn't let it stop me from enjoying the story. I wish the ending worked out better for Skye and Val but it is what it is. I hope we see a new series with some characters brought back I'm not ready to let them go yet. Great series I loved this series but they needed a serious proofreading and comb over. A Truly Excellent Series I am a 56 year old grandmother and I am considerably older than your average reader of this series. I have always encouraged my children and now my grandchildren to read. Before I buy books for them, I read them to make sure that they are appropriate age and subject wise. This series is quite wonderful and I plan to get at least one copy. I highly recommend this series for ages 10 - 20.
