Wonderfully tongue-in-cheek. It pokes fun of some of the contrivances of the games (including Gwent!) while making things quite interesting all around. It also ends with a bang (no, not that kind. Well, almost that kind..) and continues its retelling of Geralt's meeting with his first Striga. Wonderfully tongue-in-cheek. As someone who's only watched the tv show so far, I can't wait to see that developed in the second season. Also, I hope book Geralt resembles more Henry Cavill's Geralt than this one (who, I understand, is from the videogames). Didn't like him very much.
