Barely fair series of stories I have to admit that this set of books are barely fair. The first story was terrible, the servants were running everything, the writing was stilted, and the whole concept seemed terribly disjointed. I almost gave up, but I decided to give the rest of the stories a chance. I have to admit they did improve. At the end, I gave it two stars mainly due to myself getting more acquainted with the time period in which the stories were written. Light, witty, thoroughly enjoyable novellas Novellas are often so frustrating that I try to avoid them. This author however is a master of the form! Just enough information to create complete characters and a satisfying plot. I loved the "stiff, upper lip" stereotype she used. It worked as shorthand for her characters and she had fun with it as well. These stories were a wonderful surprise! Immature characters and storylines with no depth Very immature characters, with barely any depth or complexity to the them. All of the storylines are also too simple. Would not recommend for anyone over the age of 16.

Enjoyed Enjoy reading the time period the stories are set in. The collection books make it easier to get and read as much as I do.
