Faster is right; from the starting line this installment takes off at an exciting pace. Caitlin has really hit her stride now that she has finally accepted her gifts and new lifestyle. She's like a leather clad and armed Rosie the Riveter! Situations and relationships quickly change as she races the clock to find the artifact that could send her fae posse home across the veil. The twists and turns carry you through to an ending that leaves the mouth watering for more. This is the second book in the series that started with Iron. It starts where the first ended. Caitlin is still a sarcastic, funny, and very entertaining character, but there is some character development which leads her to have a slightly less antagonistic relationship with the fae world. She had quite a shock finding out that she had the power to see past magic spells (not to mention the shock of finding out that some myths are real) and responds as many normal people would have. She had quite a shock finding out that she had the power to see past magic spells (not to mention the shock of finding out that some myths are real) and responds as many normal people would have. Caitlin is now settling into her role as Warder but struggling, like many working people, to find the ideal balance of work (her real paying job, not the, life, and fae related issues. She does start to have a love interest, but it is not the hottest guy in charge of everything, which is a nice change from the formula many similar books follow. It also is a nice change to see two people bumbling about awkwardly in the beginning stages of a relationship. This makes it more realistic and plausible to me (well, as plausible as an urban fantasy involving fairies can be). She also struggles with what to tell her old friends and making time for them. When you are in the middle of something that would get you tossed into a mental institution if you told information about it to the wrong person or didn't laugh it off as a joke, it is hard to keep up with those who would not believe you if they found out about what you did. One thing that made me cringe was the spelling of "per se" as "per say." This also bothered me about the first in the series; it does not change the plot or make it hard to understand, but still bugged me. Other than that, I have no real complaints other than not having more volumes to read involving these characters right now. I can't wait for the next book to come out. The characters were well rounded and there is personal growth that can be seen. The changes range from very little to much larger. They are not just characters there just to prop up Caitlin's story and give her something to react to, but have their own stories and are on their own trajectories that happen to involve Caitlin. Caitlin's sarcasm is great and makes for a very entertaining read. It is fun without trying too hard to be "sassy." Being a sarcastic person, I have the feeling that I might respond in the same way to some of the crazy situations that occur. This book (and the series so far) is acceptable for high school age and above. There is some cursing, violence, and some not too graphic sex. I received this book through the Goodreads Giveaways program. Thank you to the author.

I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Caitlin Moore is in the vein of Buffy - she's someone who thinks she's normal until she finds out she's anything but. In the second book of the series, Cat really comes into her own. She's strong, she's sarcastic, she's someone almost everyone can relate to. A big part of that is due to the writing. From the first page you understand this character and you're rooting for her, whether it's in her latest battle with an enemy or when she finds herself feeling like I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Fast and faster! I had read the first instalment of The Warding Series and jumped right through the second one, impatient to reconnect with Caitlin, Gannon, Mairi and the others. As the world woven by Robin had been set up, the story picks up and it's a lot of fun seeing all the characters interacting with each other, deep into their mission. It may not be the end of the story, but I can't wait for the third book and see how it all unfolds. A great read!!

. Great book with great characters. Robin is a fun and captivating author. This is a natural progression on book one. Looking forward to book 3. Cat is back with her fae friends. The goal to send them back to Faery. We see them through a continuation of establishing Cat as a defender of humans. Very enjoyable.
