3 1\2 "Visions" Stars! I liked this one, but not quite as much as book 1 The King's Executioner. Wrath and Verity were very likable, but just not quite as compelling as Paine and Anin. Plus I was left with a few questions about Verity's ability. How it works and what can happen to her ect.? And there were a few editing issues. I like this setting, the overall story and the characters so I will be moving on to book 3. I'm very interested in Talon and Hemera. Happy reading! 3 1\2 "Visions" Stars! 'The King's Warrior' by Donna Fletcher is book Two in the "Pic King" series. This is the story of Wrath and Verity. Now along with keeping her secret she is trying to find her sister. I fell in love with this series from book one "The King's Executioner" and cannot wait for the next installment called "The King & His Queen" which covers Hemera and the Kings story. Ms. Fletcher's writing is the best...she covers the alpha male with a strong women that I love...which makes her one of my Favorite authors! "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

I liked this one. Wrath is less of a dick in this book 🤣 Good fantasy story. These girls get kidnapped way too much though. Enough to start the far fetched eye rolling 🙄

I read all 3 in this series in a weekend. Really quick, fun reads - takes you away to another time and place. Complex characters, but in a good way (if that makes sense), and a heavy dose of steamy fun.

The excitement and the immense romance kept me just wanting much more. Keeping me right at the edge of my seat, not knowing who will stay alive in the end! Wrath struggled with the intense cold and extreme conditions with the snow. He had to return after completing all his hard work in the Northern areas. Now he would know who plotted against his King Talon. Wrath now wanted a woman for his own. Only to keep him happy and warm from the cold. I think he just felt alone. Excitingly Wrath saw another woman in the snow. She seemed so cold lacking colour in her face. Whilst he was staring at her he just knew she needed help, her neck was so badly marked. Whilst snuggling up with her to keep her warm he wished that Paine and his wife could help. I just adored this amazing, such beautiful book. Such a wonderful, sweet romantic tale bringing us all of these brilliant and most amazing characters. Another such brilliant book Which I just loved by Donna Fletcher. Thank you! I just can't wait until book three becomes available to buy also!! * I recommend this book to everyone!!

But Verity has lost her sister and asks for Wrath's help in finding her. Wrath knows she's keeping secrets and isn't telling the whole truth, but he can't help but feel protective of her, especially during her "episodes." Verity can't tell Wrath that these episodes are actually visions because she's afraid of what will be done to her if it's revealed. But it's for this and other reasons that the Northmen are so determined to get her back. The King wants to know more, so he orders Wrath to take Verity on a mission to find her sister and get his answers. The more time Wrath spends with Verity, the more he's certain they'll end up joining together, but he's not sure he can give her his heart. For Verity, it's already too late. So this was another very good story from this author. I'm seeing consistency and I find myself really liking the intense, no-holds barred attraction and love between the H/h in these stories. It's the whole destiny and "my love is my life" situation. In this case, Verity knows that Wrath is her future (in some way or another) thanks to her visions, and as she falls in love with him she sort of goes with it, eager to give him her heart. But Wrath, being a personal bodyguard and certain that he can't do love, fights and resists much longer. One thing I didn't really love was Wrath's tendency to order, rather than request when talking to Verity. It almost had a feeling that he was treating her as a slave and didn't give her a lot of choice. He even gets pretty upset when she doesn't want to have sex with him, though he does respect it. It bothered me a lot that he did this, but this was later softened quite a bit when the heroine acknowledged that he only ordered her when he was concerned for her...so she perceived it as a sign of caring. Added to the romance, which is quite good, is the suspense plot which thickens here. Despite the king's attempts to placate the rebelling tribes, some Picts are still fighting back and now they are joined by Northmen. So finding out who the leader in this is becomes pretty important. I'm curious to find out.

The King’s Warrior is book 2 of the Pict King series. This book is a complete romance filled with strong warriors, a land of unrest, unexpected hot, steamy passion, disagreements, mystery, laughter, tenderness, strength, and eventually trust beyond question. A fierce Pict warrior, Wrath, a man not known for his patience or kindness, is the leader of the King’s personal guard. One day he finds a lady in a snowdrift, and not knowing what to do with her, is made responsible for her. Verity, a woman with visions and too many secrets and her sister had been kidnapped. She escaped and finally made it to her homeland, which she had thought never to see again. Awakening from sleep beside Wrath, she’s shocked as she looks up into the eyes of a man she knew through her visions, but had never met. The fierce Pict warrior joins Verity in her search for her sister. Her visions will prove these two were destined to be together, but although many obstacles stand in their way, they find a love that cannot be denied. The story unfolds through a well-developed plot and characters, places, and long-ago times become part of the reader’s world and allow them escape for a while. They will read the last page, sigh, and want to start over from page one, or reach for another book by the same author. I highly recommend this book and anything else written by Donna Fletcher.

There is adventure, there is intrigue, who is causing the unrest in PictLands, and why are the Northerners making themselves known? There is of course a lot of romance. I was not thrilled with the character of Wrath in the first book, but I really like him now. And Veritas as a female lead. She is stronger than she thinks, she is determined and she completely keeps Wrath on his toes. This book enhances the first story while being its own. I don’t want to give too many spoilers, however I really like a new character that we meet later in the story and really hope that she has a part in the next book. I highly recommend this book

When the two are thrown together due to the King's decree, they find that they cannot fight the desire and longing between them. As the two become closer it is undeniable that they are in love. But with the Northmen roaming the countryside looking for her and her sister. Will they ever be truly safe. The king and Wrath have vowed to protect them, but no one has up to this point. Could it be safe to trust them? Great read, could be read as a stand alone novel, but in my opinion is a great addition to the first one. 3.5 stars. IMO - Not as good as the first book. I liked this book, but I didn't love it. This book had several similarities to the first book - the primary one being the hero telling the heroine to stay put and her taking off and needing to be rescued. Wrath is shocked that the woman seems to know him, but he doesn't know who she is - but then thinks he has "mated" with a lot of women and can't remember all of them. Sigh....man-ho hero (not a fan). Verity is looking for her sister and she has had visions of Wrath helping her. She begs him to help her and he reluctantly agrees. Once the king gets involved and joins them in marriage - things start moving along at a quick pace. Wrath and Verity begin to grow closer and form a bond - but Verity has secrets and Wrath fights his feelings believing they will make him weak. Something major is brewing and Wrath and Verity are smack dab in the middle of the action. This book was well written, moved at a fast pace, has steamy love scenes, a lot of suspenseful moments and a happy ending. But it also has a hero who sleeps with another woman (thankfully off page) after he meets the heroine, has many former lovers and has more than one woman from his past pop up and cause problems with him and Verity. I would have liked a bit more information on how Verity ended up with the Northmen, but I have a feeling that will be addressed in the next book. This is the second book in the series, but could easily be a stand alone title.

Awesome Loved both books of the Pict king series can't wait for the next book. Each book is so hard to put down once you start reading them. Awesome Loved both books of the Pict king series can't wait for the next book. Each book is so hard to put down once you start reading them.

This is truly a fabulous series. Wonderful story great characters, I hope this series goes on for some time. I hope the King finds his true mate soon too maybe it will be Hemera.

Yet another wonderfully written story with well rounded characters. I hated to put this book down and go to work. I just wanted to keep reading and find out what was going to happen next. The men in this series are strong, but the women are just as strong in their own ways. I love it! Can't wait to read more from Donna Fletcher!
