The book provides a framework for contemplating your psychological needs, which when met will theoretically bring you fulfillment in life. Using the worksheets to come up with your top four needs may help focus your goals in relationships, work, and other aspects of your life. The concept of the book is good; however, I feel it is quite superficial and lacks the depth needed to truly fulfill the mission of its title. I read it in about an hour. I admit that I didn't take the time to actually write out the exercises. The final section of the book discusses using the Law of Attraction to assist you in getting your four top needs met in all areas of your life. It provides a few scripts of affirmations and an observation log to achieve this. It is pretty "new-agey" and I came away thinking that the affirmations and log will probably just help you realize the ways in which your four needs are being met by bringing them to the forefront of your consciousness. Also, there was an annoying editing error on page 86 (The Uncovering Process for Relationships). Instead of listing the exercises for relationships, it listed the exercises for the jobs section. Makes me think the book was published in a big rush.

I won a Kindle edition of this book through Goodreads Giveaways - and - it's a very quick read! This book won't help you identify a specific career or role -- but it will help you narrow down some qualities that help you feel more personally fulfilled. The book is basically a guided exercise to walk through present/past/worst job/relationship/personal life so that you can identify what you most liked and disliked, then associate values such as "autonomy" and "creativity" and "safety." After you go through the pro/con lists (4 items each) for each of the present/past/worst situations -- you tally up the strongest values on the list of 30 or so. Then, when an opportunity presents itself - you can ask "Does it help meet one of my top 4 fulfillment needs?" It's really quite simple - and it's a great exercise for those who are stuck in a rut and not really in touch with what makes them tick. If you know yourself well - you may even find some surprises in going through this exercise. It's a positive, affirming exercise -- can't hurt to try!!

Received as a GoodReads giveaway. I haven't read the author's other books, and I haven't gone through the exercises and worksheets yet, but this looks like good food for thought. I especially liked the list and descriptions of the 30 main types of fulfillment and also the case stories that provide examples of how to go through the process. It's a pretty quick read and some of it seems just too basic, too obvious. But I'll give it the worksheets a try. Received as a GoodReads giveaway. I received this book through a goodreads' giveaway. It was just what I needed. Retired for 5 years from a job I did successfully but hated, I still don't know what "I want to be when I grow up". This book is easy to follow and useful. Doing the exercises provides insight into what will make you more fulfilled and happier. Too bad I didn't have a chance to read it years ago, but I can apply it to my life now. I received this book through a goodreads' giveaway. It was just what I needed. I found the list and identifying the Four Fulfillment Needs of interest and useful--however I found the book to lack depth beyond that. It is good for someone who is new into the Self-Help genre, but I think those familiar with the genre would be left disappointed beyond identifying their fulfillment needs.

3.5 Not ground breaking but it’s a good reminder to reflect on what’s important in your life. I like that he incorporates the law of attraction but it’s not the main part of the book.
