This book was great because although I have learned about Harriet Tubman many times before, this book contained some information I didn't know like Harriet's nickname being Minty which was given to her when she was born. This boy is very informational and the illustrations are eye catching. Minty, born into slavery, has gone all her life as a slave and is tired of being treated badly. Experience her life and her fight to freedom. Experience how hard she worked for her and many other slaves, including her family, to know freedom, and how she acquired the name Harriet Tubman. This book is an easy read that can used for a history lesson about slavery and African American history.

This book is about Harriet Tubman and how she freed black people. She was raised a slave and beaten because of her rebellious attitude. She married John Tubman who was a free black man but was mean to her and she wanted to escape so she took the underground railroad to Pennsylvania. She was able to take care of herself but she decided to go back and lead many people up North to escape to. When she died, she was given a military funeral. She was an amazing woman.
