“I spent years fighting it, but I couldn’t help who I fell in love with.” Flip! The hotness level of this book was OFF.THE.SCALE!!! We see Gemma and Bret a few months after the end of the last book. Gemma had cut off all communications with her stepbrother, but comes knocking on his door in Nashville to ask for his help – that’s what she tells herself. Bret is delighted to see her but he’s really not sure where he stands with her. “I’m willing to put things on the line, but I need to know what I’m “I spent years fighting it, but I couldn’t help who I fell in love with.” Flip! Gemma kind of drove me nuts as she was so unwilling to give their relationship her all, when it was obvious that Bret wanted her lock, stock, and barrel. Yes, he had a past. Yes, he absolutely pushed her limits. Yes, he wanted her to relinquish control. But he was teaching her to be free and to be herself. He was actually a really nice guy who wanted everything with Gemma – he’d do pretty much anything to make her happy, and Gemma’s attitude towards him frustrated me. There was a lot of push and pull in this novel. I felt that I wanted them both to fight harder for each other in the face of doubts, scandal, and disapproval. However, the ending was wonderful – it was as unconventional as this couple.

Wow, I'm the second to review this here?? Woo hoo! I don't normally write a review, but I feel compelled to. I really liked this second book in Bret and Gemma's story. They have lots of problems to overcome, and seeing them work through them to end up with HEA is nice. I fell in love more with Bret and continued to be frustrated with Gemma, but ultimately they are good for each other. Loved this hea Bret and Gemma grew up as step siblings. Her mother was married to his father. They had always gotten along like oil and water. Bret was in a band and Gemma was studying to become a vet. When his dad suddenly died, Bret stayed for the summer to help around the house. They fell in love but had many obstacles to overcome. Good editing and plenty of hot sex. Really enjoyed this author and will be looking for more by her.
