This one did not help my current reading slump. I disliked the "H" immensely and the h was just a sad, too understanding, lets-herself-be-pushed-around person that I could not get behind. Lisssa has been in love with Jesse forever and of course Jesse has also been half in love with her, but because his father was/is a giant douche nozzle, he thinks he is destined to follow in his father's footsteps, so he pushes the h away at ever opportunity "to protect her." If you've read some past reviews of mine, you know I'm not a fan of this plot device. And that doesn't change in this book either. I felt that the reason was just too weak. Maybe it was just the writing style, but I didn't feel any intense emotional turmoil over anything. I especially didn't feel any chemistry between Jesse and Lissa. Why did she like him? Honestly, I have no idea. Why did he like her? Probably because she handy and he could string her along indefinitely without ever having to actually make an effort, that's how malleable she was. Bottom line, I found myself bored too many times and no way was Jesse's apology enough for me to forgive him for how he reacted to the surprise baby news. Not cool, dude! Not. Cool. SAFETY (view spoiler)[Ages: Lissa is 25 and Jesse is a few years older, I'd say 29-30? Cheating: None. OM/OW drama: None. Separation: A few short ones of a few days to a week. Push/Pull: Major pushing away from H for 95% of the book. Small pushing away by the h, but she didn't hold out much (when she should would have been totally justified IMO. Main Pursuer of relationship: Lissa is the main pursuer. Probably another reason this one didn't resonate with me at all. I prefer the guys to be the aggressors but Jesse was to scaredy-cat and Lissa had to put her big girl panties on to go after what she wanted. So kudos for her determination, wish the H would have been worth it though... Triggers: Dysfunctional family (H's dad is a jerk, who put work ahead of his family, also serial cheater.) Discover of a child/sibling out of wedlock/product of an affair, surprise baby, rejection of surprise baby, too much push/pull/mixed signals from the H. HEA/HFN: Ends on a HEA after issues have been resolved. I felt it was too prettily wrapped up and needed more closure. (hide spoiler)]

Oh my goodness! Lissa and Jesse were such a fun couple! I couldn’t get enough of these two. They were totally meant to be. I loved watching them just as friends in the beginning of this series so to see them as a couple was great. I was happy they got their happily ever after! 💚🍩🐴

Good read Our heroine is bossy, nosey, and sassy. Our hero is hunky, and has a lot of baggage from his family. He doesn't think he can give her what she wants. Can the compromise? Highly recommend. Good read Our heroine is bossy, nosey, and sassy. Our hero is hunky, and has a lot of baggage from his family. He doesn't think he can give her what she wants. Can the compromise? I enjoyed this book very much. I thought it was a very well written book. I thought the characters were very well developed and very likable for the most part. I really enjoyed the main characters of the story, Lissa Winters and Jesse Kincade. I liked Lissa's family members especially the sisters and I liked Jesse's Mother and his new found half sister Abby. The only character I didn't like was Jesse's Father which was to be expected as there was nothing likable about him presented in the book. I enjoyed this book very much. The only thing that I did expect that didn't happen is that I thought there might be some additional dialogue between Jesse and his Mother. However, I liked how Jesse's Mother treated Abby even though she is a product of her husband's affair with another woman. It wasn't Abby's fault. I thought the pace of the book was good too. I especially liked how the book ended. "Got more than you bargained for, Kincade? He smiled, though he still looked a little shell-shocked. "With you? Always." He kissed her squarely on the mouth, then pulled back slightly so they were still only a breath apart. " And, I wouldn't have it any other way." There wasn't any profanity. I also liked how the Author handled the obvious love making sessions without having to be overly graphic about it. And since she did get pregnant the reader knows what went on. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

He believed he was never going to amount to being a good husband and father- which is what Lissa wanted eventually. But life had other choices. With the stresses of saving the business, him discovering his sister and her getting sick it was time he determined what he really wanted and could be. I think this is a powerful reminder that what we believe is only a mindset change away. That everyone has baggage and inner turmoil but you can overcome it. It's nice to see that both had loved each other for years and finally they had each other in all capacities. I'm glad he realized things before they were too late. I loved the update on Cassie and Jack. Now both friends will have close families as they'd always hoped.

Clean, but not Christian This is a nice and clean, but not Christian, romance. I categorize it as clean because there's mostly innuendo, but no sex scenes. It usually goes something like this, they're kissing and fall on the bed and all of a sudden it's morning and one of them makes a comment about barely sleeping. The sex is implied, but not detailed in any way. That being said, its not Christian because these folks aren't married, but are clearly knocking boots on the regular. The hero has daddy issues and the heroine has a crazy albeit close-knit family. There are setbacks and surprises, but it all works out in the end. If you like your romance with just a touch of steam, this is the ticket.

There were A LOT of gaps in this story. It was a fine read - a little light on actual romance, but it was fine. The characters are a continuation from the first book and I feel like they were slightly different in the first book, but it was fine and didn't detract from this story too much. I am interested in the third in the series, but based on the number of typos alone I'm not willing to pay more than $.99 for it. There were A LOT of gaps in this story. This is another great read. Lissa and Jesse have worked together for years at Kincade Supply. When Jesse tells her he’s selling the shop, she can’t accept that. Will her idea to save the shop work? Will Jesse ever accept Lissa’s feelings for him and acknowledge his feelings for her? Grab your copy and get ready to fall for the Winters family. Jesse’s upbringing was so different from Lissa’s, but he honestly doesn’t think he can have a lasting, meaningful relationship.

Terrific Lissa has been in love with Jesse for a point time but the has had his own issues about long term relationships. His dad gas not been a goods example. He finally running the store and he feels he may have to sell. But between Lissa and her sister they find as way to keep it. Now she just has to work on Jesse.

2.5 stars. This was a kindle freebie. And while I liked the setting and the characters, the plot just felt so formulaic. It was a by-the-book plotline that I've read a thousand times. I wanted something a little more fresh. The writing and editing were good at least. Just very meh for me. Deleted from my kindle. 2.5 stars. This was a kindle freebie. Meant for Love Enjoyed this story. Jesse let his father's short comings and lack of support growing up, color his conception of his own abilities. He and Lisa had both grown up working in the family store. Despite his determination not to let himself enter into a,serious relationship. But as usual live won out. I thought the love story part was sweet and clean. There are a few sexy scenes, but they are implied with no great detail. 3 star Character drive. Decent except he calls her baby. She tells him off once for babe but accepts baby? Why do some people find it endearing to be compared to an infant, implying one is incapable of taking care of oneself?

A sweet read. I found Jesse a little frustrating, he is moody and snaps at Lissa one moment then is kissing her the next, before once again pushing her away. This book is a journey of emotional discovery and growth for both Jesse and Lissa, it is a sweet, enjoyable, easy read.

Having grown up with a domineering father who was never faithful to his mother, Jesse believes that this keeps him from being marriage material. He believes his past will bleed into any relationship he tries to have. When Lissa finds an opportunity to spend more time with Jesse as she helps with saving the store, their attraction blooms and Jesse finally gives in to his feelings, even knowing that it won’t last – or will it? This is a great friends to lovers story that enforces the truth that love can overcome many things, including our own pasts and doubts. Being the second book in the series, this book is a great second entry. That being said, you needn’t have read the first story in order to get the full benefit of this story. But, if you enjoyed their friends Cassie and Jack in Lissa and Jess’s story, I would highly recommend going back and reading their story in Return to Love. *I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Enjoyable Story Really enjoyed the story. No waiting until the near end for the H and h to come together and realize their feelings for each other. The usual angst happened in the relationship but with a believable and satisfactory ending. Would have given the top 5 rating if not for the poor editing. Incorrect word usage, incomplete sentences and, at one point, it appears the rest of a paragraph was left out. But all in all I enjoyed it and would recommend it for other romance readers.

Wonderful read This is a great story of friends to lovers and shows that people can be more than they ever thought they could be. There are times when all of us need to stop and figure out where we want to be in our lives and who we want sharing that live and once we figure this out fight like everything to make it happen.
