After describing Tidal Wave as HOT, I feel I need more words to describe Whirlpool, since hot is not enough. How about smoldering, sizzling, on fire HOT? That’s more like it. I have loved Vivian Arend’s style for a while now and Granite Lake Wolves series is one of my favorite sexy paranormal reads. However, her Forces of Nature series takes it all to a whole new level. Vivian explore three-way relationships in this series and she does a great job at it. I’m not talking about a one-time, fantasy realizing night; I mean actual loving relationships. I really enjoyed the first in the series, Tidal Wave, but Whirlpool took it to a whole new level for me, because it explored the relationship between the two men involved in the ménage as well. Chelsea is a member of the Jeffrey’s Cove pod, but she has always dreamed of going away to college. Because of events out of her control she can’t afford it anymore and to make matters worse she has to housesit for the new Matriarch, Alexia, of the pod with the man she has desired all her life and who keeps rejecting her. Brenden is Jeffrey Cove’s Sheriff and his life has just gotten more complicated when the new Matriarch of his people left on her honeymoon. He now has to share a house with the woman of his dreams, who he has being trying to resist for a long time so that she can have her dreams. When Jamie, an archeologist hired to catalogue Alexia’s grandfather’s collections, rolls up into town and into Chelsea’s and Brenden lives, things just get more complicated because Jamie is human and he can’t know about the merfolk, but both Chelsea and Brenden feel a strong attraction to him and they can’t seem to have it in them to deny it for long. Whirlpool is not a whodunit and it doesn’t have any kick-ass heroines or heroes, but it is nonetheless a delightful quick read that will have you fanning yourself in no time and sporting an easy smile on your face. I loved the pent up tension between Chelsea and Brenden, they have had the hots and feelings for each other for a long time, but merfolk nature dictates that the women have needs that tend to taking more than one partner and he didn’t want to share her. Jamie was the perfect addition to this couple and I loved that there was actual attraction between him and brenden and the ménage relationship wasn’t solely focused on Chelsea. It gave the whole story a new depth and I simply loved the chemistry that the two men share, sometimes even more than when Chelsea was with them sometimes. Whirlpool is a fun, light and sexy read that I definitely recommend to any and all Paranormal Erotica readers out there. This was my favorite in the series so far I just hope Vivian has more in store for us, ‘cause damn, the woman can write a sexy threesome.

Another super HOT story about the merfolk. Chelsea and Braden have danced around each other for years. Add in a geeky anthropologist from the museum and this threesome gets down and dirty quickly. The first book set up the premise of life in the "pod". This one wasn't as informative but just as steamy as the first. Not sure where the author will go next, but it should be interesting. Keep your water bottle close at hand for this series! Memorable Scenes: - Opening scene of the book > It started with a bang and never let up - Jamie's solo sexy times scenes > Can I say HOT? - Chelsea and Braden's first time together scene > culmination point of a lot of sexual tension and chemistry Chelsea has had a crush on Braden Marley for 10 years but he keeps shooting her down and Chelsea is getting frustrated with it and with his every attempt to keep other male merfolk at a distance. Braden has had a hard time resisting Chelsea and now that she's not taking away the temptation by having to stay in town instead of leaving for college, it takes all his willpower not to give in. The arrival of Jamie Powell offers possibilities for a solution to Braden's dilemma, only not in the way he expected. Chelsea is a young woman who has too much responsibility to carry on her shoulders. Her college plans are hindered by financial family problems but she is protective of her family and carries the burden by herself. Chelsea is stubborn, willful, vivacious and a very smart cookie. Braden is the sheriff of Jaffrey Cove. He’s a big bald giant who loves to be in control, he’s commanding and straight to the point. His only weakness is his forbidden attraction to the young Chelsea, which he tries very hard to ignore and resist. Jamie is an archaeologist who comes to Jaffrey Cove to do an assessment of a marine-artifact/nautical collection, inherited by Alexia (heroine TIDAL WAVE, book 1). He’s a little scatterbrained and sometimes forgetful about mundane things. Jamie is my kind of hero, very observant, sweet, calm and analytical. But there’s also that very seductive and sexual edge to him that fascinates and attracts. There were so many moments in WHIRLPOOL where I wanted to say to him: “Come to Pearl, I’ll make you feel better.” From the start Vivian Arend pulled me straight into this story. Contrary to TIDAL WAVE, which took me a few pages to get into and stayed slow paced well into it, WHIRLPOOL reeled me in straight away and kept me utterly captivated. I really liked how the world building that was (understandably) prominent in TIDAL WAVE was toned down to a subtler and less intrusive level. This definitely benefitted the pace and the story. The small plot of the crazies/vandalism spree was intriguingly woven through the romance. And resolved wonderfully and in a way I never saw coming. I was speculating about what could have caused it but never thought it to be what it turned out to be. I also loved how once again Vivian Arend created a love-triangle that totally worked though I was feeling a bit sorry for Jamie at the beginning but he got his and got it good in the course of the story and my consolation was definitely not needed anymore. I also admire the solution for the practical sides of this threesome and the way it still was a great HEA, though not a conventional one. The build-up of the romance is excellently done, Vivian Arend created wonderful tension, building it up slowly and when the climax it was building up to came, it was titillating. Though, as might be known by now, I am not a m/m reader I did enjoy the subtle m/m parts of the ménage in WHIRLPOOL. they were beautifully done and not once did I feel uncomfortable with it. Kudos for Vivian Arend for joining the two other authors (Lorelei James and Lauren Dane) on my shelves who managed to keep me in my comfort zone while reading male on male sexy times! Opposites and sex-on-sticks Jamie and Brady and bubbly, charming Chelsea carried the story wonderfully and provide some scorch-the-pages scenes that are guaranteed to set your reader on fire and keep you warm on a cold winter night. Ms Arend turned up the heat for this one, and I can’t say I had any objection to it. The sensual heat bar was set high from the first chapter and never diminished and her writing never fails to draw me in and keep me glued to the pages. Favorite Quote: Braden tweaked her nose and she smacked his hand away with a laugh. “Okay, baby. We give. You’re right, and we promise not to organize your life without you again. What’s our punishment? You want us to take you out to dinner?” “I want to watch.” She crawled up on the back of the couch. Jamie flushed bright red and Braden grinned from ear to ear. “Watch?” “Yes, Jamie.” She fluttered her hand at him. “Just pretend I’m not here and go back to what you were doing before I came home.” Her sex tingled in anticipation. “You don’t want to join us?” Braden asked, giving her a slow clothing-melting stare from top to bottom, and the tingle increased to an electric pulse. “Oh, I’ll let you know when I want in on the action.” She crossed her arms and tapped her lips. “I think you should start by taking everything off. Makes it easier for the watching, you know.” Jamie leaned over her to nuzzle at her neck, caging her on either side with his strong arms. “You’re a naughty girl.” She reached down and pulled his shirt from his slacks. “You, Braden. Naked. Now.”

Its really good. Even though they tried 2 keep their secrets from him he still managed 2 keep his memories probably cause of his past. Its good that they figured out the possibility about the chaos vandalized things, etc. So they can hopefully fix it ASAP in the future. I hope more is 2 come of this series.

Chelsea's always wanted him, but her plans for the future are looming, and she knows that she will be leaving Jaffrey's Cove for college. Only those plans have come to an abrupt halt, and Chelsea might be staying right where she is. What better time to express her feelings for the handsome sheriff? Though Braden would like to be with Chelsea, he knows that her hormones - her merfolk hormones - are in full swing. And, sometimes, one man isn't enough for a lusty merwoman. Sometimes, she needs two men to assuage her need. Braden doesn't think that he could be with Chelsea, and share her. But, then a very human Jamie Powell enters the picture. As a marine biologist, he's supposed to be cataloging the various finds in the merfolk leader's house. The chemistry between Chelsea and Jamie is instantaneous, and doesn't wane when they decide to make Braden jealous. What starts as a sensual game, soon turns into a three-for-all, with Braden and Jamie putting Chelsea in the middle. Vivian Arend is one of the authors that I have spoken to on Twitter. One of those authors, that has such a personality that I think to myself, I bet I'd like their books. And I do. Without even realizing it, I've had her GRANITE LAKE WOLVES series on my computer for several years. In fact, WOLF SIGNS is one of the few e-book novellas that I have read more than once. So, I jumped at the chance to receive an e-ARC of WHIRLPOOL. Not realizing that it was the second book in the Forces of Nature series. The great thing about WHIRLPOOL though, it wasn't really necessary to have read the first, in order for me to immerse myself into the world of Jaffrey's Cove. I've read menage stories before, but because there are so many combinations that can occur, I didn't really start reading with any particular expectations. Character-wise, I liked that Braden, Chelsea, and Jamie were all fully-fleshed out. It did seem as if Braden and Chelsea would be the focus of the menage, by the description, and I had high hopes that Jamie wouldn't fall by the wayside. He didn't. Actually, in terms of love scenes, I would have liked to have had more of Braden. Chelsea and Jamie formed a bond early on, and Braden never really seemed as if he was truly Chelsea's preference. Almost all of the menage stories that I have read, were written one of two ways: a smutty, smexy, one-night stand, or a group of men sharing a woman as a lifestyle. Not that I have any problem with either, but WHIRLPOOL straddled this line very nicely. Braden was the more intense, husband-type guy, while Jamie was the younger, not-staying-permanently-in Jaffrey's-Cove guy. While the end seemed as if Braden was left alone somewhat, while Jamie and Chelsea went off together, I was happy at how Arend resolved their arrangement and commitment to each other. 4/5 for plot 4/5 for characters 4/5 for language My Rating: 12/15 Highly Recommend Bonus Cover Points: 4/5

Whirlpool is the second book in the Forces of Nature series that centers around the small town of Jaffrey's Cove. In the second installment things have heated up for the sheriff on both a personal and professional level. Strange incidents are occurring all over the cove that require his attention along with his duties as acting leader of the pod. Alexia has hired Jamie to catalog all of the collectibles sitting around her house. He shows up while she is gone and is instantly attracted to Chelsea. Strange incidents are occurring all over the cove that require his attention along with his duties as acting leader of the pod. Alexia has hired Jamie to catalog all of the collectibles sitting around her house. He shows up while she is gone and is instantly attracted to Chelsea. Jamie is very curious about everything. He has a photographic memory when it comes to cataloging items but he can't keep up with a set of keys to save his life. He knows that there is something going on between Braden and Chelsea but he keeps having erotic dreams about the three of them together. He genuinely likes them both and doesn't know what to do about his growing feelings for them. Chelsea has been in love with Braden for as long as she can remember. He is her protector and wants her to be able to experience life. He doesn't realize that he is controlling who she dates or even has contact with until it's pointed out to him. He wants her but he doesn't want her to regret staying in Jaffrey's Cove just for him. The sexual tension between these two is so thick it is ready to spontaneously combust. Jamie offers his assistance with the situation but things get out of hand leaving him wanting more when Braden and Chelsea finally come together. He becomes the voyeur. I love how the characters feelings are clear from the beginning. You know that in the pod, two males and a female together is not uncommon. Throughout the story you get glimpses of Braden checking out Jamie and vice versa. There is something there but the anticipation of whether they will act or not is what kept me reading on. The ménage scenes actually start out pretty light with the focus being on Chelsea but then at one point the focus shifts to Jamie and Braden. That scene is so well written that even if someone has a hot button issue, I don't think they would be uncomfortable. The true connections and love are what come out of the scene for me. I liked the first book in the series but this one is my favorite so far. The story is awesome, the character development is right on track for the length of the story and the sex scenes are HOT!!! Jamie's acceptance was also believable based on his past experiences. One of my favorite scenes occurred after their first ménage when Braden and Chelsea were standing in the kitchen and Jamie walks in. There are many humorous moments in the book. Overall I thoroughly loved this book and give it 4 flaming hearts and suggest you pick up a copy of it (and Tidal Wave) when it comes out Tuesday, August 10th.

While there is an instant attraction between Jamie and Chelsea, she has her sights set on the local sheriff Braden. When Jamie and Chelsea come up with a plan to make Braden jealous, the sparks start flying all over the place, with all of them. Like I said before, I absolutely love the premise of mer-shifters, and love Arend’s writing. Her stories are always super sexy, and I am a total sucker for a great happily ever after. While there are times I don’t really like reading about triad relationships because really, I just can’t see how they work in the long term (I can also be an insanely jealous woman!), but this one worked. I love that Chelsea and Braden had their shifting abilities as a common ground, and that Chelsea and Jamie had their love of history and education as common ground. The three of them just seemed to really work together. If any of your paranormal fans out there are looking for a steamy read about sexy shifters with a pinch of nerdy historians, then you should definitely pick this one up! All in all, I give Whirlpool 3 out of 5 ancient merfolk artifacts!

This was the second book in the Forces of Nature series and it was ooookaaaaaay! That seems to be a really bad comment from me, but it didn't drew me as much as the first book, and it left a lot of questions open, as well as most of the romance behind. I like my books a little more balanced. It was basically about unrequited feelings and how Chelsea was pining after Braden. Poor Jamie was just in the mix. And what the heck was up with that glimpse in the past - which was part of the shifter discovery, but left completely unexplored after. I would have expected something out of that story part, but except for the "oh, I remember seeing something similar in the past"-moment from Jamie, that's all. Duh. Also nearly no shifter moments in this book. *sigh* It left me hanging a little and after finishing the story I was expecting a second book - just so everything else could have been explored. In my opinion: not Vivian Arend's best plot.

Okay, where do I begin? This book was not what I was expecting. I have read a ton of ménage books and usually I can choose well were there is one woman and more than one guy. In those that I have read the men have nothing to do with each other they only focus on the girl which is okay. This book however was a relationship with all three with men on men. I did not realize this until I had already gotten into the book. I was so not happy I do not like to read about men on men just NO!! Therefore, Okay, where do I begin?
